Just a suggestion (not finalized so don't freak out) . Do you think this would improve the layout community? Would designers be willing to create Gaia layouts? I think it would be good but I'm only one person with one opinion.

It's not a bad idea since I know there are a lot of people that use Gaia, but I'm not sure if we'd get many submissions. It might end up like the Friendster layouts. Very rarely do we see any submissions, and when we do, they're not up to CB standards.

It wouldn't help. And since none of us use Gaia, we wouldn't have any submissions.

Yeah i think it's kind of like when that person suggested the vampirefreaks layouts, although a lot of people use those sites i don't think we would get enough interest let alone submissions for it to be successful.

^ I think even more is that we might get submissions, but vary few if any would meet cb's standards.

True it would take a really long enough time to put tigether a significant base of layouts and we're still working on the friendster and Hi5 ones

I think it's a great idea. Gaia has profiles coded similar to Myspace. It's a site I know many people use (I know I never heard of hi5 or friendster). Createblog didn't start off on myspace layouts in the begining. If cb does start offerring Gaia layouts we could attract some of the designers here to the community.

Eh. The only issue I have with it is that would mean that little kids would swarm the shit out of cB and the last thing we need is this place to turn into is a kid's pisshole.

If we try it, it's going to end up like the Moveable Type and Wordpress crap that used to be here.

Gaia isn't only full of little kids, Myspace is. Many of the people there are over 20. Both ways kids use both of the sites. Right now I can't think of any Gaia layout site except for one.

as to sum up; there isn't a great demand for it. Thats not a very good reason not to make it an option. I mean considering there is a Hi5 Layout section on this site and there isn't ONE design there. :/ GaiaOnline should be added I think. If we can have an empty Hi5 section we should be able to have a GaiaOnline section. |

If we can have an empty Hi5 section we should be able to have a GaiaOnline section. The only reason the Hi5 section is still up is because the moderators can't remove it. Only Jusun (the site owner) can. And he's never around so it just sits there. Otherwise, it would have been removed a looooong time ago. Tbh, I'd rather have Hi5 up than Gaia. I mean I've never even heard of that site. |

If I were to see people posting up gaia layouts in showcase, I might be more apt to entertain this (serious conversation further, that is haha. We admins don't have access to make these types of changes). Not only have I not seen much interest in an actual subsection, I can't recall seeing any interest or any type of showcasing for these, at all (certainly not recently).
Don't get me wrong, I think that having a diverse selection of different types of layouts is great, but there has to be some interest and more importantly, there has to be people willing to create and submit these layouts, lest it fall under the same fate as Hi5 and Friendster. |
