I'm not sure if anyone here even watches Lost anymore but final season premiere is near (February 2). I'm actually glad that the series is ending. It's sort of time. Last year was terrific and I'm hoping that many loose ends will be tied up in the next few months.
i'm interested to see how they finish stuff off. it seems impossible to tie up THAT many ends in one season, but then again the whole show in general blows my mind, so i don't doubt they can do it. i didn't really like last season that much so i'm hoping i'll like this one more.
I stopped watching when a f*cking polar bear showed up.
what i didn't like last season was i felt like it was too unrealistic. i mean, i know the other seasons weren't realistic either, but this was to a whole new level. i guess i liked it best when they were "surviving" on the beach. i liked the surprised unrealistic "magic" elements tied into that. the last season, or seasons, kinda let go of reality completely and we were in this never ending mind game with ben and everyone. i'm hoping they tie this up in a somewhat realistic way. that seems pretty impossible to do, but you know. before even when weird shit was happening, like polar bears were showing up on tropic island, something about it always sorta made sense enough that you kinda believed that could happen.
idk if you know what i mean, but that's what i hope they do with it and i think it will be hard to do at this point. tie it all up in a reaslitic-ish way.
i needa buy all the seasons
I know what you mean. Netflix has some seasons in HD (I think 1-3?) in their demand section right now and I started from the beginning a few weeks ago. First off, Lost in HD is goddamn amazing.
Second - you realize (or at least I did) how brilliant the story telling was in the beginning. Each character had their own intricate plot and history but the story of Lost itself was simple - airplane crash survivors in a strange and seemingly distant island. It was so magical and mysterious yet somehow grounded in what could be deemed as realistic.
Season 2 followed the same pattern, to an extent but things got crazy with the introduction of far too many characters. Don't get me wrong, I liked a few of the tailies but all that Anna Lucia shit was ridiculous. The other thing that was ridiculous was the overplayed and stale love triangle between Jack, Kate and Sawyer. Speaking of Kate, season 2 is when I began to lose interest in her in general. Season 2's saving grace? Eko. I STILL miss that motherf*cker.
Season 3 I loved, actually. I won't get into detail, but the season ender devastated me, as I lost (no pun intended) my favorite character.
Season 4 was great in that it introduced "the others" in a way I wasn't expecting at all.
Season 5 was sort of a cluster f*ck. After watching it a few times, I understand more but at the time I felt a psychological whiplash during every episode.
yeah season 5 never let you get your footing at all
and i agree about season 1. i feel like the characters made that season, not the back and forth twists and turns. i like the twists and turns, but i think last season you lost the characters. when you lose the connection the characters it makes it harder to care what the hell is going on for me.
Definitely. I mean, when I re-watched the Boone death scene, I sobbed. SOBBED. That scene, Jack's reaction... my god. That type of emotional impact has been really dulled over the years.
here you go rebecca, just what we needed
Clear as mud. haha
I'm probably not going to watch it tonight. Pounding headache and I'd rather watch it from start to finish and not risk falling asleep during it.
Ahhhhhh does anyone else think Sayid is Jacob now?!
^ That's where my head went.
Hate, HATE that Juliette bit it. I loved that chick.
so has locke been the smoke monster this whole time?
i liked juliette too, couldn't they have made someone else die.
i could barely keep up with it before and now we have to keep up with the island as well as an alternate reality
I think that the smoke monster takes form of a dead person. I don't think that it's been "Locke" this whole time. In fact, the smoke monster/Locke was dissing Locke like crazy.
It wasn't as dizzying as I thought it would be. It was comfortably challenged (mentally). haha
I don't think Locke is the smoke monster because that isn't even the real Locke. The real Locke is dead and the 'man in black' that was always seen with Jacob is the new Locke... that man said that he would find a loop hole in order to kill Jacob and Locke was that loop hole.
Sooo the reason I feel Sayid is Jacob now is because Jacob told Hurley that he needed to take Sayid to the temple so that he could live... but the main reason he wanted that to happen was because he was actually dead and needed to find his loop hole into coming back to life.
I bought the super mega deluxe all seasons blu ray set of Lost on black Friday and have been doing the marathon for a few weeks now.
Lost is a good marathoner. Things seem to make more sense when you watch it all smooshed together. In my opinion it does, at least.
It's also gorgeous on blu-ray.
