A lot of what I do is just for "fun". I draw when I'm bored and design things on the computer when I'm bored. Designing things shouldn't be something to stress over or something that feels like a chore. If that's the case, maybe you're doing it for the wrong reasons? It's never bad to take a break from certian things in your life and designing just might be one of those things. Just don't delete/ripup/burn/throw away... whatever you want to do... with your artwork, because you might regret it. Just put it aside for a while.

I design for fun, and also out of boredom a lot of the time. So no, I've never really thought that.

I agree with Dee though, don't ever just discard all of your artwork, you may eventually regret it.

Many, many times. Graphic designing was always a hobby for me until I found out my mom was making me go to a tech school to make it into a career, so now I feel pressured and not good enough. But you should always keep a hobby if you love it. >_> Doesn't have to be your path in life, but you're in trouble, it could get you somewhere.

Yes. I find it pathetic that I do spend so much of my life on this stupid machine. So pathetic.

But i'm really good. And why give up something that you're really good at.

I wouldn't give up designing stuff.
Actually, I think I'm still quite in the beginning stage so I ought to try learning more stuff and advancing my skills.

Agreed. Except I would've gone with that (> dat).

I design solely as a means to pass time. To have fun and express creativity. Schoolwork and such doesn't really allow me, so I definitely view it as an outlet for a number of things. I actually would call it "fun" in many regards. Nothing can really compete with 03 AM Photoshop + iTunes sessions. Apologies for however nerdy that may sound, but oh... I love scenario dearly.

I do get the whole "whoa - Zen" aspect of this thread, xDoofus. I think it's more so the shift in passtime/career/interest that's so interesting. Like being a telemarketer for 10 years, and then suddenly taking up professional skydiving. It's a complete turn-around: you're cleansing habits and former lifestyles, and essentially "becoming a new person". More power to you, if that's where you're at in life. But speaking solely for myself, I do graphic and design just for kicks, and nothing else. It also keeps me from going out and getting smashed on weekends, smoking pot, and all the other jazz cool-kids my age get into. That said, I just don't see myself giving it up anytime soon.
