Hopefully this works. I want to start this as a topic where the guys of cb can kind of give advice on certain things or tips on certain things. I like going to the askmen.com website, and I see no reason why we can't have one of those tips like spaces on here. Examples of this include:

Tung telling people how lemons can make your pits not smell

Brandon giving advice on what cut you may want for a certain suit

JC telling people what he thinks is a good dish to make

Reidar giving good advice on working out and what not

Things of that nature and all are allowed to input their opinions, tips, etc.

I thought of this because you have guys like Tung and Brandon who are really good with fashion and people like JC who is good with the arts and Juna with photog and Steven with being white ha ha and KC with being asian and what not. So start posting and let's see where this takes us. Just one rule....YOU MUST BE 18 or older to give advice in this topic. Juna is the lone exception.

Is photography manly?

Does photography epitomize the essence of masculinity? Of course not, but it goes well beyond that. Photography is an art that can allow one to capture a moment in time.

What do you guys think about Aldo shoes?

Posted by: brooklyneast05 Dec 3 2008, 11:02 AM

i feel bad that no one has replied to this, so i will even though i don't have a real answer.

i'm anti-dress shoe. a couple years ago i worked part time in an accounting office and was always going back and forth between there and my classes. it resulted in me having to constantly wear suits and dress shoes all day long and i f*cking hated it. i don't think i could ever be a real buisnessman seasonal0.gif i like my comfortable shoes too much.

i had like 4 pairs of dress shoes but i only have one now. i don't think any of them were aldo's, my girlfriend bought them for me so i guess they could have been. if they were, I HATED THEM!

Haha! I hated wearing dress shoes too, but I got used to them over time. I am now more of a casual shoe person, as you can wear them in business and casual settings.

Not Martha Stewart lol but you give good cooking advice.

i'm gonna check those out. last time i asked a barber he was like "it's cause your black" and i thought he was kidding and then i realized after reading stuff that he was being serious haha. supposedly black dudes have worse problems with ingrown hairs since the hair naturally grows curly and will curl back up in the skin?

I have this awesome electric razor that works really well, and very flexible so you can get all the areas you need shaved. Tmi? _unsure.gif Yeah, but most of the time, I'll trim it. Posted by: DoubleJ Dec 5 2008, 04:51 PM

I don't think it is at all. I was actually going through the same thing this semester, until I decided to let the girl go. When girls first get into college, a lot of guys are going to impress them. You have a lot of good qualities in your favor, not to mention that you are a military man. The age thing would scare me a bit, because girls at that age tend to also be too clingy. I mean if you want to do it, then by all means go for it.

Their multivitamins are good. Animal Pump is garbage, like all NO2 supplements are.

Posted by: DoubleJ Dec 5 2008, 07:47 PM

So would you say that you are a fan of the animal pak? I know the one that he gave us, had like 10 pills in it, but it did give me a boost while working out.

Hey Tung did you ever pick up that book that I recommended? It's a good read.

Posted by: Reidar Dec 5 2008, 07:59 PM

There's nothing to be a fan of, really. Multivitamins are multivitamins.

They only caught my eye because of their awesome http://www.animalpak.com/journey/index.cfm, so I mostly like them from an artistic viewpoint, not because they make exceptional products.

Nitric oxide supplements (like Animal Pump and NO-Xplode and all that) suck because they act as hemodilators. Most of the so-called studies with finds of unprecedented vasodilation conducted on it don't apply because oral arginine only has 70% bioavailability, and up to 50% of this can be broken down to ornithine, so using powder is impractical for research. Consequently, it's usually infused directly into the blood via peripheral IV for scientific studies, and even then, an impractical dose of 30 grams of the amino acid is common.

Posted by: DoubleJ Dec 5 2008, 08:10 PM

In English please. What is the big deal about multivitamins by the by?

Posted by: hi-C Dec 13 2008, 06:58 PM

^ I'd buy a suit. You can always get it tailored once you've gotten to an ideal weight.

Posted by: DoubleJ Dec 13 2008, 07:42 PM

Truth, but idk any tailors in my area. I wonder what I would have to look for in a good tailor.

Posted by: hi-C Dec 13 2008, 07:58 PM

Your closest dry cleaners should have tailoring services. Or wherever you buy the suit, they should have tailoring, too.

silver is subtle, and blends with any colors esp. black and white, gold is just better if you want something that's eye-popping. I don't wear a lot of gold. If I do, it may just be a neck-chain.

For those of you that wear suits...should I get my suit side vented if it doesn't have any vents at all?

Posted by: brooklyneast05 May 21 2009, 04:52 PM

^yes imo, vented is way more comfortable, especially if you're wearing the jacket on an everyday basis and sitting down/moving around a lot. did you think about center vented vs side vented

Posted by: DoubleJ May 21 2009, 10:04 PM

I thought about center vs. side and I tend to like side a lot more than center. To me center seems to be a bit more of a classic suit, and I want to save that for some of my more pricey suit purchases in the upcoming months.

Here is a new question:

What do you guys think about men wearing hunter boots?

Posted by: kryogenix May 21 2009, 10:29 PM

Side dawg, side.

Posted by: DoubleJ May 21 2009, 10:45 PM

Yep sh...I for the life of me cannot stand center vents...It gives off that old fashioned look to me. I am 22 not 52

Posted by: kryogenix May 21 2009, 10:47 PM

I am 20 not 52

Posted by: DoubleJ May 22 2009, 09:56 PM

lmao so I got one of my suits out of the cleaners today and I am taking my other one to get vented next week! My first visit to a tailor. I have looked at askmen.com for a guide as to what I should look for, and the tailor has gotten all positive reviews. Anything else I should ask for?

Does photography epitomize the essence of masculinity? Of course not, but it goes well beyond that. Photography is an art that can allow one to capture a moment in time.

tell us more man

Posted by: DoubleJ Oct 11 2009, 02:38 PM

Long story short I have lost a friend for apparently saying some things to his current "girlfriend". There were just some things that she confided in me about and somewhere along the way she told him and now we aren't speaking. I spoke to my best friend about it and their response was to just let things go. It is kind of hard to let 9 years go down the drain, and we have stopped speaking for periods before, but I am unsure this time if it will be temporary or not. We are in the same circle of friends, but it seems like they are gravitating more towards him.

that's a shitty situation javonn. are you thinking you're friends are gonna ditch you and be on his side

Posted by: DoubleJ Oct 11 2009, 08:29 PM

I feel like it is happening but my friends say otherwise. I am actually working on trying to become a better person before anything and I am actually taking some time away from things to just focus and clear my head.

Yes I am late...but just for future reference, never wear brown shoes with black pants. It is NOT a good look whatsoever.
