QUOTE
Author J.D. Salinger, who wrote the iconic "Catcher in the Rye," has died at age 91. The author's son, through Salinger's literary agent, said Salinger died at his home in New Hampshire of natural causes.

QUOTE
A statement released by his literary agency today said "Salinger had remarked that he was in this world but not of it. His body is gone but the family hopes that he is still with those he loves, whether they are religious or historical figures, personal friends or fictional characters."

RIP.

How so? Granted, I didn't find Catcher in the Rye superb, but still.

Because everyone thinks Salinger is such a great writer. Sure, Catcher in the Rye is allegedly a "classic", but look at Salinger's style, his penmanship -- the guy's a phony. I could write a better novel, but that's because I'm the only genuine person in a world full of phonies.

You're also an English major. If you can't write at least a little, you die and get raped.

Humanities majors are phonies, too. My undergraduate degree is actually in computer science (but yes, I studied English, too).
