has anyone else made a catapult or trebuchet?
i made one this weekend that launches 80 feet. i'm aiming for 100 or more, so i still have a ways to go. but it is rather fun attacking the neighbors. i don't think the really mind. we put a golfball into my neighbor's across the street and three door's down's garden. but that was with pulling the arm by hand. we're limited as the the counterweight (it's for a competiton) ahh, the joys of siege warfare. i should get two catapults and have a war. hurl tomatos at each other from 80 feet away. that would be quite fun. this makes me wish i lived in the north. i could so pull it out for a snowball fight. imagine, hitting someone 80 feet away! the possibilities are endless... mmm... [evil smiley that doesnt' exist because such evil smiles have never before been seen] yea, my catapult is 75 cm tall. just wait till i build one 3 meters tall... then it's not so much as "lets attack the neighbors", but lets attack the neighboring counties. well, only if you live close to the county line. but still. i bet you with a 10 meter trebuchet i could attack my school, which is about a mile away. i wonder if that's illegal. oh well. i want to try a flaming tennis ball now, filled with gasoline. hmmmmm. |

Haha...oh dear. But yeah, first in grade 4 for a project I made a very small catapult then in Phyics 11 we did a trebuchet project. It was pretty cool. I didn't do much in the actual making of it...the guys in my group did that while I took a nap. |

Oooh, I made one in fourth grade. At the high school, I'm going to, you get to build catapults and trebuchets and you get points based on how accurately you can hit a target. Very cool.

I made one in school a few months ago. It was part of a project. We had to shoot marshmellows into a container. ;D

ooo we made one in 6th grade. it was about the romans vs the spartans and greeks and stuff. anyways, we all built little catapults and launched marshmallows at each other. that was fun...

^ That reminds me of those horrendously sticky marshmallows we used in 5th grade to make extremely flimsy structures with marshmallows and spaghetti. That was a disaster, and some mean kid came up and smashed mine. I got up and smashed his back though.

I made a fairly powerful onager in 8th grade. Problem was, the wood was pine, so the torsion spring caused it to cave in on itself.

or instead of a flaming tennis ball filled with gasoline, you put grass on a ping pong ball and wrapp it with foil and set it on fire and it makes a smoke bomb.
these guys i know did it when we were all in the neighborhood. and then they accedently blew up a can of ax and it blew up in this guys face. |

^ HAHA you know some pretty crazy people. Interesting thought though. I can already see these poor little kids going into class and going "Hi, Teacher! How are you today?" and then crazy Justin pulling out his trusty catapult and burning the school down to the ground.
That would be pretty incredible. |
