Makes me wish the cB Make-up Contest still existed. I would join!! AND WIN! No that's just my competitive side talking.
Post what you used too, if you remember. Which I don't.
lol. i lurk on specktra and mua.
what did you use?
I wish I remembered. I'll try.
First 2:
UDPP

MAC Folie (crease)
MAC Club (very little, outer v)
MAC Fluidline Blacktrack
Some Korean brand for teal/blue eyeshadow
MAC Springsheen blush
MAC Nymphette l/g
Second 2:
UDPP
Estee Lauder Honey Drop
MAC Vanilla
Some Korean teal/blue eyeshadow
Some Korean wine/plum eyeshadow
Clinique Crushed Plum

And all the boring mascara/foundation/concealer too.
lol, thanks Tung, much appreciated.
YAN LIN post your FOTDs :D
i need to take some first. D:
does this count?
Yes ma'am. Lookin' good!
This thread is gonna die soooon.
Don't worry, Arjuna will soon post his.
He'd better!
Gigi, you should do my makeup. Haha.
my makeup goes to hell compared to yours.
easy/lazy fotd.
Lol, where is the pic? That you promised.
Promised? Sike.
Your make up actually looks really good, Gigi. Ha ha, but dang, that does look like a lot of stuff you had to use.
Yeah that shit looks real pretty.
Back of the line.
You can't be in two lines at the same time.
powder
^ That reminds me of the MadTV parody of Memoirs of a Geisha.
um...
MAC Carbon e/s
L'oreal Liquid Liner
Hard Candy Butterscotch e/s
Hard Candy Suede e/s
Hard Candy Caramel e/s
Hard Candy Techno e/s
Hard Candy Pixie e/s as blush
some other silver e/s
MAC 3D Glass in Boundless
that and foundation+mascara
makeup from last night. i have shaky hands. and it looked a lot better irl.
gigi, what settings do you use on your camera?
Oooh, nice, Gigi! And you too Yanlin
I'm going to have to do this soon/now.
YAY more contributors!
Carrie that colour looks lovely - what'd you use?
Yan lin - I use a fluorescent desk lamp
Yes mine's Hello Kitty too, and looks almost exactly like that XD. I tilt the head so it shines directly in my face, then take the photos with a digital camera. I keep it at Macro, no flash, but all other settings are default. You just have to make sure that when you're taking the picture, your hand isn't blocking the light from the lamp and you get a shadow.
Oooh, fluorescent desk lamp, I'm gonna have to remember that for later.
And thanks, Gigi I used four different colors: a dark purple ("Purple Silk," The Body Shop) on my lid line (although it doesn't really look like it), a bright green ("Sprout," MAC) and bright gold ("Eldorado," Urban Decay) on my lids and a lighter gold ("Gold Chiffon," The Body Shop) right near my eyebrow. And then smudged it all together with my finger.
LOL, Gigi! I lurk on Specktra. I drooool over the haul section. Oh and I love that blue and purple look. I tried something similar but it didn't turn out as pretty. I'll re-do it and take a picture when I don't have fugly brows.
That's a lot of Hard Candy, Yanlin. I want to push myself to like their e/s, but they never seem to work for me.
i got a palette. it works really well for me though. i'll take a picture of the palette i have sometime.
Nice of you take a picture so bright where barely anyone can see the makeup.
I can't even tell with all the contrast and blurriness..
Word, even my picture was better.
^ooh i love it!
ect: the blue looks really good on you... though it's an old pic. : )
i love guys who put on make up. =]
not the best picture. it looked cooler in person. but i love applying on funky make up. i'll take more pictures when i do tho.
uh...which one are you?
i'm the guy. lol jk the one in the middle with the most make up on...obviously.
Most guys period won't be interested.
Wise words.
lol im not in love with guys who put on make up. i just love them, as in i love to party with them. aka i love gay guys.
okay then. is this better??
^^ Your cover up is lighter than your actual skin tone. And it looks like you put it all over your face and didn't blend well at all. Idk I may be wrong... but yea pretty tho. =]
wow, kevin + javon are fucking mean. poor girl ;(.
looks like cancer
lmao ZOMBIE
Hm, I love colored eye-shadow, but they tend to make me look like a clown, so I usually just stick to naturals.
lol, the nailpolish is me being stupid at Sephora and trying out one of the orange shades ><
I'm pretty sure I'm using some Duane Reade brand eyeshadow I bought because it was dirt cheap. And eyeliner & mascara are some shade of brown from Maybelline
Hm, you can barely see the eyeshadow, but it's a combo from the "Meet the Stones" Bare Minerals pack. And eyeliner & mascara are probably something from a convenient store.
And I only show one eye because I was born with a birth defect that makes my left eye stupid.
^ I can't believe I missed what you posts. Very pretty! Love the sparkliness :)
So I'm totally going to bump this thread, 'k?
prettyyyy. I haven't worn makeup in so long. hahahha.
gigi, i love the goldish brown shade! what did you use? i seriously think i'm gonna go get it. i can never find a good gold color that isn't tacky and i really like how natural it plus i'm a fan of sparkles =) it looks like you used at least 3 shades right? the goldish one by the tearduct, the light brown in the corners and i think a reddish brown above that? oh and plus the white highlight under your brows? good blend! looks.
^ Pretty much. I used 4 shades though. Light pale, frosty yellow in the inner corner, mid-tone orangey-gold in the middle, coppery colour in the outer corner, plus a matte brown in the crease. Under the brows I used a satin cream colour, and then a pop of the pale frosty yellow I used in the inner corner RIGHT under the arch of the brow.
Which goldish brown shade are you talking about? Since the shadows I used are different from what you thought they were, I'm not sure what area of the eye you're talking about. Tell me and I can suggest what to use. :D
Most of the shadows I used were cheapo ones though, or very old eyeshadows, and hard to find. I could suggest a few alternatives though.
Oh, and it's probably helpful to note that I used a gold cream eyeshadow underneath it all as a base.
Thanks!
i like the satin creme color right under the arch of the brows & the yellow-gold in the inner corner & the matte brown by the crease! have any suggestions on where to get those colors?
and please enlighten me on how to apply eyeshadow as an lower eyeliner cause it also turns out weird/the eyeshadow flakes. i think it's just the brush i'm using. i use a sonia kashuk angled eyeshadow brush?
I used MAC eyeshadow in Vanilla for the satin cream colour.
Matte brown is pretty easy to get anywhere, the one I used was pretty neutral toned (i.e., not a lot of red in it). I might suggest MAC eyeshadow in Espresso for that.
Yellow-gold, maybe Ricepaper by MAC?
I suggested all MAC products because I'm pretty familiar with them, plus I know it'll be easy to find. Of course there are a lot of alternatives, so don't think those are the only ones you can use. I'm sorry I can't recommend the exact colours I used because they're impossible to find online or anywhere now (I tried!).
I've never really experienced eyeshadow flaking so I'm not really sure what you're talking about - do you mean like, the powder goes everywhere? Maybe use an eyeshadow base on your lower lashline - either an actual eyeshadow base or some sort of cream eyeshadow, anything "sticky". I used the tip of a flat eyeshadow brush for the lower lashes, but an angle brush should work. Try dabbing the shadow on instead of sweeping it across.
you have just introduced me to a new realm of cosmetics! i now want to buy every single shade of eyeshadow that mac has to offer... they're all so pretty! and i'm only shopping online - imagine what i'll be like when i'm in an actual mac store! so instead of buying like a bunch of eyeshadows, i was looking at the eyeshadow suite. how about http://www.maccosmetics.com/templates/products/shade.tmpl?SKU_ID=SKU30775 maybe?
i don't own any cream shadows cause they always creased very easily, but i'll try the dabbing idea! i think i might just not have the right features for that. like your lower lash line is more inset than mine so it looks really good. erhm it's a hard feature to describe, but it's a good thing! =] i usually don't wear anything on my lower lash line for that reason. if anything, i'll put on top eyeliner. speaking of, i'm running out. perhaps i'll get a mac eyeliner lol. i'm just gonna go on a mac extravaganza. thanks for the suggestions!!
Don't let online pictures fool you! MAC product photos are infamously deceiving. They're never the same in person =_=.
The Suite Array shadows have been getting crappy reviews, but you never know until you really go and try them. Sweet Liaison looks like an appropriate colour though.
http://pics.livejournal.com/karlasugar/pic/0000cebq
^for swatches
Yeah cream shadows crease for me too, not unless I use Urban Decay Primer Potion! :D Love that stuff to death. I would recommend it to anybody.
I'm glad I fueled your MAC addiction (maybe? LOL). Check out http://specktra.net if you're really into it. The ladies over there are very, very helpful.
yeah. mac doesn't work for everyone. but I do know what couple of mac products I'll be picking up this week.
I actually had makeup on today...and I'll post pictures tomorrow.
^ Sweet!
I'm definitely picking up one, maybe two of the holiday eyeshadow palettes or lip gloss combos in a few weeks :D
I just really want the Emmanuel Ungaro see through lip color and one of the Dual Edge Eye pencils from the old Heatherette collection since mine was stolen a couple months ago.
Are the Heatherette pencils still being sold now? And to the bitch who stole it.
I want the Manish Arora stuff just for the packaging.
well, they're still online, so I'm assuming that they still have them at the stores. haha, a lot of the manish arora stuff is sold out already though. D: but i wasn't a huge fan of their colors.
I know, it sold out in like 2 days! I wasn't a fan of the colours either (when am I going to wear yellow eyeshadow and bright orange blush?!) but the packaging was purty.
Gigi- you have perfect eyebrows.
I'll admit it, I'm a bit of an eyebrow aficionado.
gah dayum Gigi, you gotta be my make-up artist
day:
night:
quick question gigi - what do you use for your skin? it's so smooth and shiny! lol
I used MAC's Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Light-Medium. I love it!
http://www.maccosmetics.com/templates/products/sp.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CATEGORY31026&PRODUCT_ID=PROD10342
Yan lin - Very nice! I wish I could pull off dark colours. I always look like I got hit in the face, or really bitchy LOL.
ugh. I really want to get MSF but I hear it only works for some people.
^ Some people have complained about it breaking them out. I find that it's okay. If you don't use too much of it, it looks quite natural because it's very sheer.
Oh I also used MAC Mineralize blush in Nuance if that's what you meant by what I used on my face, Irene.
I can't, for the life of me, use liquid foundation unless I've exfoliated my skin like twice. And vigorously. I have these patches on my cheeks (they're not even dry patches, I have NO IDEA what they are), and they are greatly accentuated by liquid foundation. I have no idea why this happens. So I'm pretty much limited to powder. Plus I have oily skin, so it all works out.
I can't really recommend you eyeliner because I hardly use it (smudges like a mofo on me). So I'm not even well-informed about eyeliner, because I don't care about it. I've heard Urban Decay's 24/7 liners are AWESOME though, apparently they are very long-lasting and glide on smoothly. It depends on what you'd like your eyeliner to do...
Between the two I'd get Teddy since you would get more use out of it, especially if you don't have any eyeliner to begin with.
liquid foundation works on me. but i use both. :X
and I prefer to buy liquid liners because pencil does not stay on me (other than MAC's dualedge liner). You should try MAC's liquidlast liner, because that shit works really well.
I have MAC Fluidline too. I think gel liners, in general, are much easier to use than liquid liner, and are quite long-lasting.
^ i think i'm gonna try that, cause i need like a powder to set in the liquid creme. otherwise my face looks just a tad shiny.
liquid liners are too harsh on me (tho they do stay very well!). and i don't know, it just doesn't look good... probably cause i've only used a clinique creme liner and a crappy covergirl one. the creme liner smudges like crazy, as do most eyeliners for me. i ALWAYS get a faint eyeliner mark on my crease from blinking and it looks retarded. i've been trying to find a eyeliner that battles this annoying problem (currently i use http://www.lancome-usa.com/makeup/eye-pencils-and-liners/le-stylo-waterproof.htm#anchor001 in prune, but it ran out. it works the best so far) but i'm starting to think that it's just my stupid eyes yes, i have tried setting the eyeliner by dabbing eyeshadow on it after application - it doesn't work.
I get the liner mark on my crease too, but only if I draw my liner too thick. Your crease could be different from mine though. If you have a pretty thin crease, maybe try doing your liner thicker, up to the point where any creasing would just blend into the actual liner...if that made sense.
The only way eyeliner doesn't crease is if I use a primer underneath (Urban Decay Primer Potion), and setting it with eyeshadow on top. Although lately I've just been using eyeshadow straight-up as a liner.
If it REALLY REALLY bothers you, try using an eyeliner sealant like Benefit's Shelaq.

^ I just got this and I LOVE IT!!!
only clowns wear makeup
Only girls collect shoes.
I wish I could pull that off without looking like a corpse! Byooooteeful.
Yanlin - LOVE the lips!
I can't pull off pale lips.
It took me forever to figure out how much eyeliner was enough, lol. I tend to overuse.
and since Sandy doesn't get my eye "defect"... this is the only picture where you can sorta see it. People say they don't notice it until I point it out, but that's probably because I have side-bangs to cover that shit up.
My left eye (to the right) is single-lidded while my right eye is double. -_-. makes me super self-conscious.
^ I now understand what you mean about being self-conscious. My allergies have now made my right eye have hundreds of folds (or no folds at all on some days) while my left one looks totally normal.
^ stop rubbing them! & take non-drowsy allergy meds! & use ice packs (esp in the morning)!
it works, i tell you! this was my remedy routine after my eyes were like that for 2 weeks... except both my eyelids had like a ten folds each. i looked spectacular those 2 weeks haha
I try very hard not to rub them and I take a Reactine pill every morning. And I don't use ice packs because usually when my eye feels like shit and has a bunch of folds, it also gets kinda pink-eye-ish, so I have to used boiled water to sooth it. Thus making it puffier.
why don't you put wet drops in? or take a hot shower?
then use the ice packs! =] seriously, ice packs does wonders. i use it on/off for like 20 minutes in the morning and my mound-of-fat of an eyelid heals instantly!
I've tried using eye drops, but they just screw up my eye even more. And I can't take hot showers because my skin is very sensitive to it. Yes, my health is super f**ked up.
Anyway, enough about my eyes. LOL
ohh i also hear sideswept bangs can do that too or in the longrun. whatever. your eye still looks good a-hole
psht melissa, I couldn't really tell. My eyes kinda look like that too
Mine are wide open ^_^
How does one do the pale lips thing?
Pale lipstick ^_^
Steven's the expert now.
oh, he's always been an expert.
But what kind of pale lipstick? Like nude? And since I'm, you know, chocolaty, it makes it hard to pick that stuff out.
^ You could use a little concealer with some gloss on top to get the pale look without having to get a pale lipstick. Just a tiiinnny bit though.
Hmm... Interesting. I might have to try that out. I never thought about using face stuff on my lips. Thanks, Gigi! =D
That's what they did at one of the oooold Gucci runway shows. Black smokey eyes + pale concealered lips FTW, says Tom Ford.
I've never been able to do the smokey eye, mainly because eyeliner and me don't get along well. I hate putting it on, I never do it right, and when I think I do it right, it doesn't show up. That might because I have (had) cheap ass eyeliner.
I know people use concealer or foundation on their lips first and then use a paler/nude lipstick on top.
I've been into bright lips and nude eyes lately.
Hm. I love the Bourjois glosses.
I think this is the color I have, too - rose a l'eau
I usually wear that or something clear. If I'm going out, I usually wear this pear color by Estee Lauder:
So yeah, I'm pretty into light/pale lip colors. If I go dark or bright, I look really gaudy -_-.
I focus more on the eyes, though, lol.
I think these pictures are from various nights of going out last year:
;)
keke y u so kute?
all4u
lol, my friend and i had a girls' night and experimented with makeup.
Don't look at the eyebrows. I tweezed in the semi-dark and messed up horribly :(
^ Looks cool! That would've been so awesome for Halloween!
i know, right?!
I've already decided I'm going to be a super-villain next year and do some awesome face-makeup. Maybe Poison Ivy :D
omg i love that.
Poison Ivy would be awesome! There are a toooon of Halloween FOTDs at specktra.net so if you need inspiration for next year, head on over there. Some of those bitches are insane.
dude i did the eye mask thing with make up forever, that shit took 2 days to come off.
^ lol, damn. i dont have makeup remover and the makeup didn't come off when i washed my face, so i tried using handsoap... and it magically came off after one swipe.
Olive oil!
Just fuckin' around:
Question: how y'all clean your brushes?
In between uses I use MAC Brush Cleanser. I take a piece of tissue and put a few drops of the brush cleanser on it, then swirl the bristles into it. When I'm out of brush cleanser though, sometimes I just use water-based eye makeup remover.
Every month or so I'll wash them with a little bit of shampoo. Just make sure that when you rinse them, don't do it with the brush ferrule pointing up or else the water can trickle down the bristles and mess up the glue.
im digging the colours carrie
I have no idea, but I think it'd be fine. A lot of mixing mediums that you can use with brushes are glycerin-based, so it certainly wouldn't do anything harmful to them.
Ah okay. Thanks, Gigi Such an expert.
Also, any recommendations as far as foundations go? The one I'm currently using is Clinique Perfectly Real but it makes my skin REALLLLY greasy and after a few hours it starts to look like I'm wearing a mask.
Foundation is a pretty personal thing though, so I'm not really sure what I could recommend you, except to always look for a formula that's oil-free, or even one that's especially for oily skin. Look for words like "matte" and "oil-control" as opposed to "dewy" and "glowing". On the Clinique site, you can even browse foundations by your skin type.
Without recommending you a foundation though, there are a few things you can do. These have worked for me:
- Use a primer before foundation but after moisturizer. Something with silicone, dimethicone, any "-cones" will instantly mattify the skin and help keep oil in check. I'm thinking Smashbox Photofinish Primer right now, but amazingly enough, http://usa.adflakes.com/index.php/view+classifieds/id/12170/The+Truth+About+Monistat+Chafing+Powder+Gel+as+a+MakeUp+Primer+ works the same way. You're probably like, shit Gigi, you want me to put that on my face?! I promise you that it's fine XD. And it's relatively cheap! I don't use it too often though in case it DOES do something weird, like clog my pores or w/e.
- Might seem obvious, but cleanse and moisturize before putting on foundation. If you don't moisturize, your skin could overcompensate for your dry skin by producing more oil.
- Set any cream or liquid foundation with a light dusting of powder.
- Apply as little product as possible. I find that if I use too much foundation, it gets seriously nasty. Try using a sponge to apply it so it goes on more sheer.
- Oil blotting papers, or even brown Starbucks napkins in a pinch to blot the mess away :D
Here's a great thread on Specktra with tons of suggestions:
http://specktra.net/f188/perfect-foundation-very-oily-skin-89507/
I LOVE the urban decay primer potion <3
I got it as a free gift from Sephora a year or so ago and have been buying it since.
lol i hate paying for makeup
LOL wat. watasillyboi. naw you know how sandyeezy does tings around hurr. 5fingerdiscount
I LOVE HER! I read her blog every day. Along with Temptalia. But I could never wear eyeshadow like that, ever. Maybe only to post an FOTD in Specktra, or for Halloween.
http://nessasarymakeup.blogspot.com/
http://www.temptalia.com/
Damn should have posted my Halloween makeup...it wasn't too crazy, but I loved it.
Oh and my new favourite make-up thing - MAC shadestick in shimmersand. Fan-freakin'-tastic.
haha I LOVE temptalia. her blog is the pretty much the only makeup blog i read.
damn...you guys are so good with make-up.
i'm terrible with it...so i usually don't wear it.
I also like http://www.pursebuzz.com/ I think you might like her too, Gigi (she's a devoted MAC fan) :-p But pursebuzz is ALL tutorials (makeup or hair) and products evaluation.
my new favorite must-have is the L'Oreal Colour Juice Stick Sheer Light Lucious. it has the color of a lipstick, but the moisture of a lip balm. say goodbye to chapped lips and hair-stuck-to-your-face-lipgloss cause this is amazing. there's an array of gorgeous colors to pick from with silly names. or if you just want a slight tint, i got the shade "Chai Love You", which offers just the faintest touch of color :D TRY THIS, LADIES! you can find it at Target, Jewel, Walgreen's, and pretty much any drug store. they're about $8 i think? i got mine on sale for $4 at Walgreen's
I love Pursebuzz too, especially since she's Asian and I can learn some good tricks from her! I actually read a LOT of makeup blogs so if you're interested, I can tell you all of them. btw the Colour Juice Stick looks really pretty! Reminds me of the MAC Slimshines that I never got. I'll definitely look into it.
Steph - I heard the Shadesticks were awesome, I wanna get one in Beige-ing. :D
I watch Pursebuzz too! haha I actually discovered the MAC Shadestick through a makeup tutorial..someone else, but yeh.
so is juna gonna post his makeup or what?
blending is extremely nice but the rainbow shit reminds me of a baby prostitute
I thought that shadesticks were getting d/c'ed
I think only some of them are. Not sure if that's true, but I know that Sharkskin got dc'd recently and everyone shit their pantZ.
I think they're dc'ing them slowly but surely. Because I remember reading last year that they're phasing them out or something
^ Pretty, but the eyeliner looks a little uneven near the inner corner of your eye on the close-up shot. Do you use liquid or pencil?
yay new makeup.
testing out the palette for my sat date. ;D
Gorgeous, Anisha!
I just got the Urban Decay 24/7 liner mini set in VIP and here's me messing around with them. THEY'RE SO PRETTY!:
How are you able to get the lines so perfectly even?!
Usually I'm pretty bad with liner, like I have to go REEALLY slow or fix with a Q-tip afterwards. But damn, it's because these liners are awesome and just gliiiide on, so you don't have to really tug to try to get the colour to come out. Plus they're already nicely sharpened.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Right now I'm still wearing the liner and seeing if they smudge on me or not - if they don't, these are definitely my holy grail eyeliners.
^ I keep thinking you're Natalia.
Wow, these are all so nice. I'll be sure to put mine up soon
^ Post post away!
'k so the UD 24/7 liners are officially the best liners I've ever tried.
I used the copper-ish colour today, with just a tiny dusting of translucent powder on top, and NO SMUDGING WHATSOEVER, and even after 8+ hours. You probably don't understand how important of a revelation this is for me. ALL. PENCIL. LINERS. SMUDGE. ON. ME. And this one does not. I am so very impressed.
Need to buy the other colours now!!!
really I have no technique when it comes to eyeliner. I just started from the inner corner, drew along my top lashline, then flicked out lightly near the end. It's easy because this liner is so smooth.
damn. this might mean that I'll have to invest in UD liners too. I don't use pencil because it all smudges, and I've gotten used to liquid.
ahh, i'm a little late, but i LOVE urban decay's 24/7 liners. i bought the bourbon liner a little over a year ago and it's a dreeeam.
Ok the pictures don't do the make up much justice but i tried doing the flourecent light thing and i just looked like a ghost =/
I used:
Smashbox tinted moisturizer
Lise Waters liquide liner
Lancome long lasting waterproof eyeliner (black)
Lancome Hypnose waterproof mascara (black)
Clinique soft pressed blush (plum gorgeous)
Clinique colour surge eye shadow duo (like mink)
Loreal perle (turquoise)
And just some black eyeshadow
need more on the eyes.
Yeah I know it doesn't look like im wearing alot, that's what I ment by the picture doesn't do it justice lol. The makeup was done for the dinner I was going to tonight so maybe i'll take some better pictures there
No foundation on as I was just messing around with eyes and lips. Horrible skin =(
On the eyes:
Revlon EyeGlide eyeshadow in a beige-y color on the lower lid
Covergirl Eye Enhancers Shadow in "First Light" on the upper lid
(Damn, didn't even put on any mascara)
On the lips:
Fashion Fair lip liner in "Passion"
Covergirl TripleLipstick in "Rum Raisin"
Fashion Fair lipstick in "Grapesicle"
I love the lip color, Carrie. The color looks really good with your skintone.
Out of a split second of insanity, I decided to buy this Too Faced set:
http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P216402&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=4225#
I tried out the pallet at the store and fell in looooove. I've never found a set where I'd actually wear all the colors, but this is perfect for me. Pictures later :D
^ I find that cameras don't ever do justice to what makeup looks like. You have to a heavy hand just to get the colours to show up even a little bit. I had to try out a lot of different settings and types of lighting to get anything to show.
To be honest I never wear that much eye makeup on a daily basis, only for a special event. In the pictures it looks pretty natural but in real person it's actually a LOT. Normally I'd just wear some powder, very natural eyeshadow, maybe eyeliner, mascara and blush. If I took a picture of myself on a regular day, you probably wouldn't be able to see any of it.
I think I have finally mastered the smokey eye, but I have nowhere to wear it to! I will rock it one day at a party or something. Stila has some cool "Talking" palettes (there's one for smokey eyes) that gives you step by step instructions, although I find them pretty useless. Youtube tutorials ftw. ;)
Mel that palette looks great. I want to try out the Urban Decay palettes too, they always come with a lot of great colours.
Carrie, I love the lips as well!!
^ Teach me the smokey eye! I want smokey eyes!!! Flora always makes her eyes somewhat smokey, but her way of doing it doesn't really end up being smokey for me. She uses a shimmery brown eyeshadow as a base on her eyelids, and then a darker brown eyeshadow to make a thickish line above the eyelash and a thinner line on her bottom lid. And then she uses a black eyeliner and draws a thin line over the dark brown.
^Omg im jealous! Whenever I tried to do the smokey eye, I end up looking like a big black buggy eyed freak hahaha!
How does Flora do it?
I'll totally teach you how I'll do it. I'll even try it on you! :D But remember, the last time I asked, you didn't want me to touch your eyes. :(
Whoops, just edited my post haha. And ^ probably because my eyes were super crappy at the time? I'll totally let you do my eyes next time. =]
I was so confused at first, then I looked at your PREVIOUS post. Alright. You know what we need to do? Another makeover day. A real one. HAHAHA
That sounds a lot like how I do it in terms of colour placement anyway. I usually line my upper lashline with a pencil, smudge it out a looot. Then go over it with a dark shadow, blending it out. I use a midtone to dark shadow above that up to my crease, then a midtoned to light colour in the crease. Highlight browbone with a light colour.
What a shitty explanation.
When you said it doesn't turn out smokey for you...what did you mean by that?
Maybe it's because I don't make the lines thick enough, but it just ends up looking like I just used eyeliner and that's it. LOL.
Not the best pic but my eyes were closed in a drunken pic and here's what I did for my bday night. It's not as perfect as at the beginning of the night though obviously, lol.
MAC shadestick in shimmersand
MAC eyeshadow in cranberry
Victoria's Secret eyeshadow in smokey night
Then just brown powder on eyebrows, and black mascara and liquid liner.
i love the color, steph :D
So has anyone tried the L'Oreal HIP eyeshadows? I like the colors they have together. They're pretty cheap too.
Oh man i Have my lancome eyeshadows I never use, plus my mineral glo eyeshadow. D:
Gigi u should post a tutorial ;x
My SORTA attempt of smokey eyes but this pic was from a couple of months ago
This is what I looked like overall before my friends party
And after the party. Sorry, my eyes are kinda red..
I wanna post some pictures up of my attempt of a smokey eye, but I have no camera as of right now.
Pooball.
Did it look better this time, according to you?
Eh, I couldn't really tell... I think I'm going to try again tomorrow, just for fun. LOL
Playing with makeup is the funnest thing imaginable! For the past few days ever since I got my stuff in Sephora, I have been staring fondly at my new goodies. Like my new NARS blush. Holy crap. I didn't know a blush could be so enchanting.
I can't work with this lighting in my room. Ugh.
Anyways, here's the "classic smoke" from the Too Faced set I got.
with flash
It's a lot darker in person :(
Oops, never saw this thread
^ I really want the Velvet Rope one now. I have the VIP set and I love Lucky, the copper-y colour. Electric (blue) is pretty awesome too. I wish the purple one was more sparkly and lighter.
How's the Sephora palette?
Your typical generic black smokey eye. You can hardly tell in the first picture.
Hm, didn't try it yet. But I have Sephora liners and duo eyeshadows and they're not bad at all. The duo's creme creases though, even with UD primer potion (which is GODLY). I just end up applying it over my regular eyeshadows.
And wow, you have looong eyelashes, not fair ): I barely have any..
Want to try Stila smudge pots next...been eying them for a couple years now
I can see it pretty well from the picture, Gigi. GAH you are so pretty
^ Oooh, I like that a lot!
^ Hey at least you'll be plump for longer, hence less wrinkles.
Melissa I loooooove that eyeliner you used, it's a nice contrast. ALSO, I bump this thread up again because there's a 25% Friends and Family discount at Too Faced that I thought you would enjoy, BUT then I read the Cyber Monday thread and realize you have no way to use it :(
Well, if you find something...the code is TFFriends. Oh also, if you spend $25 you get a free full-size eyeshadow duo. :D:D
Also, Bobbi Brown Friends and Family 20% discount, code BFF08A. I loooooove BB.
f*ck i'm so pissed. my $15 gift card from Sephora doesn't work because it says that it's either "invalid or used already". wtf.
Hey guys,
all of your make up looks amazing btw!
I'll post pics of my makeup when i get home! lolz.
All of your skin looks so perfect/pretty!
Whats all of your guys' skin care routine?!
Oh, do tell!
lolz
XOXO
I hit dat last night and now he all up on my jock.
Umm... i did this makeup look on a bus one day >.< lolz
So its kinda...uneven and smudged.
But i was on a bus! what can you expect!! lolz. hahah.
Detail/diff views~
sorry its smudged
sorry about the glare! lolz
http://www.myspace.com/forsakenyou
^ I'm hopeless with liner even when sitting still and not on a moving bus and I couldn't do anything nearly as good as you did. I'm jelly =(
^ How do you even keep eyeliner on your waterline? No matter how much eyeliner I put on it, it never stays. It always smudges out, but I guess it's because my eyes are watery, lol.
^ You'd have to use a super waterproof one, which usually aren't safe for the waterline anyway :X I heard the Urban Decay 24/7 liners stay well on the waterline, some people have also used gel liners on their waterline to get it to stay. Some even set the liner with powder eyeshadow on top, but I find it weird to put powder on your waterline =\
But yeah just straight-up eyeliner on the waterline rubs off in like an hour for me.
powder on your waterline irritates your eyes like hell. or at least they irritate the hell out of mine.
I am slowly becoming addicted to makeup. And I just splurged on my first "big" purchased. Can't wait to get it in the mail!
I'm paying 30 dollars for 120 e/s! So excited. And Youtube reviews have good reviews; so does MUA. I'm mostly a beginner but once I get a hang of more complicated looks, I'm going to invest in Coastal Scent's Neutral Palette.
SO EXCITED!
Not a fan of Avon. I think their makeup is cheap and tacky.
You did do a good job with the eyeliner though. I can never get liquid liner straight. Pencil all the way!
I really want to try Coastal Scents! All the eyeshadow palettes look amazing. I want the 10 blush palette and the contour palette too! And their brushes!
5finger discount di. don't stuff in your purse, bring a shopping bag.
From what I've heard from the people on YouTube and on forums and whatnot (which are a LOT of people), they all really like it. I mean you can't really go wrong, it's 88 colours for that price, and the colours are all pretty pigmented and bright. There's a matte version and a shimmery version.
I paid my shipment and I should get the palette soon. I opted for the 120 palette because the coastal scents 88 palette is all shimmer. This one has matte, shimmer and some pearl =) I'll definitely do some swatches if you want to see.
I'm just a little worried because I didn't get insurance (it was half the cost of the actual product and the shipping/handling was more than the actual product). Hopefully, if it does get damaged, it would only be cracked and easily repressable.
^ The CS 88 palette has a matte version, actually I'm sure that was the original palette. Then they came out with the 88 shimmer.
Matte (although they never really describe it as matte, just "not very shimmery", but I hear from other people that it's pretty much just matte.

Not the best pic cause the lighting is messed but yeh. It's my attempt at a Cranberry gold look (inspired by PurseBuzz on youtube lol). So yeah. I really like it but this pic doesn't do it justice. =p
MAC shadestick in shimmersand
MAC cranberry eyeshadow
Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush eyeshadow in Copper Feel
Maybelline Mascara
Prestige eyeliner
^ That looks really rosy and pretty. But I can't really see any gold. I guess it's the lighting.
^^
Yeah prob.
Played around some more tonight. Not the best pics b/c just taken on my laptop but yeh I really liked it.
MAC shadestick in shimmersand
MAC cranberry eyeshadow
MAC real drama eyeshadow
MAC trax eyeshadow
MAC sweetjoy eyeshadow
MAC prep & prime for lashes
MAC dazzle lash mascara
Prestige liquid eyeliner
Love it Steph! The colors work really well together and with your skin tone. I need to get some good blending brushes.
Testing out my Clinique smudge pot eyeliner. YAY!!! And have some Sephora Limited Edition lipstick. Oooh, and with Covergirl Mascara, the one for specific eyecolors.
Seriously, you are a whore. A drunken whore.
^_~
Rachel, how do you like the cream eyeliner? And you have gorgeous eyes, btw.
I've been testing my new wunderfullll palette.
Layer 1 (
Layer 2 (which I have yet to use)
I've been using the browns the most. I played around and smoked out my most commonly used look. The blending could be better.
^OOH the marbly colours look so cool. The last row in the top layer has me droolin'. I love neutrals. I reeeeally want that neutral palette from Coastal Scents! Ugh and you have such nice bone structure.
Steph, I swear Cranberry just looks great on you!
Love the lipstick, Rachel! With the liner it looks so retro and gorgeous. You do have very pretty eyes. /jealous
Playing with my new MAC stuff. Huge-ass picture alert.
Eyes: combination of a few random browns + purples, and new Femme-Fi (LOVE THIS. Best. Highlighter. Colour. Ever.) And of course I used my new brush, the 226!
Cheeks: Nuance mineralize blush + new Redhead MSF
Lips: The redder one is the new Strawberry Blonde lipglass, the lighter one is Live and Dye lipglass. Dunno when I will ever wear the dark pink/red one but it is very pretty! It's also not as neon-looking as it is in the first pic.
Corny picture, but it really shows off the MSF well. :)
Thanks =)
The marbly colors are amazing. Very bright and multi-dimensional even after blending. The browns are what I use the most. There's one that gives me a yellowish tint that's weird but I keep forgetting which one. The shimmer is amazing.
Love the Live and Dye lip glass. I think the eye look works great with both lip colors. Flawless like always, btw.
Ah, more neutral.
Ahh so pretty, Gigi <3
you don't need makeup ***hole. show me moar nudes prz!
OOH Christina pretty, what did you use?
...n00dz would be nice too.
jeeeezzzz, gigi. your make up and pictures are always so gorgeous. <3
you've inspired me. i'm gonna go play with my makeup and take pictures. ;)
gigi has perfect eyebrows T_T
I got a free eyelash perm last night and I am finally experiencing curled lashes for the very first time (eyelash curlers + mascara never worked/s for me)!! I want to take pictures of it but... cellphone camera = not good.
Dude that's SO COOL! I always wanted to get an eyelash perm because while eyelash curling alone suffices, it's still a pain to do it every day.
i wish i knew how 2 do eyebrows. i remember i accidentally shaved my eyebrow off, so ever since then, i haven't really messed with them aside from plucking.
Haven't posted here in awhile :P
Decided to mess around with my makeup last night (on only one eye though). Sadly, the pictures don't do it justice, the color got all washed out Just did a basic smoky eye.
Without fake eyelashes
With fake eyelashes
Hate that my eyelashes don't curl... an eyelash perm sounds great
I'm getting kind of annoyed with my eyelashes now... the ones on my left eye are a little bit more curled than the ones on my right, so it looks kind of unbalanced. And it gets really frustrating when I have my glasses on because my left lashes touch the lens and it feels funny.
lol i have a habit of plucking my eyelashes and i like the noise it makes. is eyelash perm the shit where they glue each individual lash to your eyelashes? shit, i had that for two weeks before it started irritating the crap out of me. though they told me not to, i ended up waking up in the middle of the night to pluck every single one out.
^ Gahh, that sounds somewhat painful!! No, the eyelash perm I got involved some rod/stick and some thing that looked like saran wrap. I think they just put some chemical on my lashes and rolled them up. It smelled like a hair salon afterward. =\
yo im tired of waiting
f*cking juna needs to post his makeup pics
You. Pluck. Your. Eyelashes...? That freaks the hell out of me LOL.
oh okay I read it wrong, you plucked out your individual ones that you got put in. I think those are called eyelash extensions or sth, and they're semi-permanent. It's too much of a pain for me, seeing as how you have to be suuuuper gentle and you can't use mascara (WTF?). Yeah.
lol they say you no longer need mascara. it does somewhat make a difference if you have nonexistent eyelashes like me. girls are critical so most will notice. the most annoying part was showering because the eyelashes tend to droop down.
i do pluck my real eyelashes. i always feel like there is something in my eye. instead of rubbing them like normal people, i have a tendency to pluck.
^ Dude, the plucking sounds really scary. Does/did it hurt?
Has anyone ever cut/trimmed/snipped their eyelashes? My mom said she cut my sister and my eyelashes when we were babies to help them grow faster.......................... so dangerous.
nope. oh i don't use tweezer or anything. just fingers. man i should do a video so you can listen to the noise too but it might gross you guys out.
I have never intentionally cut/trimmed/plucked/removed any of my eyelashes. It sounds scary, and plus I don't want to lose what little length I have.
LOL the noise. I'm curious. I'm imagining this weird twang sound.
Umm... where can i go to get an eyelash perm? it seems plentiful in Canada, but not in the States :(
^ I got it at the facial place I go to. I wouldn't have ever gotten it done, but the lady gave it to my sister, my mom, and me for free for Chinese New Year.
What kind of f*cked up head-shaped pears are you eating?
My haters have commented on my fruit-shaped heads before (e.g. Vyrrei and her peaches). Am I noticing a trend here?
Look, if you want to offend me, wax poetic on something that actually matters to me (not that other people will agree with you). And if you weren't trying to offend me, you seriously have the same people skills as Thomas does.
LOL
oh, gigi, your eyes are like... two luscious kiwis and your mouth is like a delectable banana!
At least Vyrrei got the general shape right. Never have I seen a round pear.
And yes, your attempt at being funny was horrible.
chyeah okay, so after getting back from my friend's b-day celebration, i thought i'd start experimenting for the makeup contest and ended up going a little crazy. >.<
i think i'll blame the beer.
i think i might delte this later.
You know what that means.
*SAVED*
;) Cute btw, we should use that as the next theme!
^x2 You're so creative!! And hehe so cute too.
Ugh Gigi, I am in love with your eyes and the way you do your makeup. I need better brushes!! Suggestions? Preferably ones that don't break the bank, haha.
Bored and getting ready for an End of the World Party!
Clinique Brush On Creme Eyeliner- True Black
Bare Essentials
BADgal Plum Mascara
Bourjois Effet Lumiere- Les Argents 46
Ulta Loose Eyeshadow- Platinum
Sephora Glitter Powder- #22
Philosophy Lipgloss- Raspberry
^I have an ace bandages around my wrist FYI. Slipped and fell on ice in front of my apartment and really effed my hand up.
I LOVE THAT SECOND PICTURE GRR. Sexyy ;) love your brows too!
Hmm, cheap brushes that are good...I remember the first ever makeup brushes I bought were from Costco...Borghese I think? There were like 12 brushes under $25 CND. They're not amazing in quality but great for the price. I love the big eyeshadow brush in that one - it's so soft! They come out with a new one every year, and the one this year had a bunch of synthetic bristle brushes.
If not check out the Sonia Kashuk brushes at Target (personally have not tried because I don't live near a Target but heard great things about them), Eco Tools (I think that's the name) with the synthetic bristles + bamboo handles which I'm sure they sell at Target too.
If you want to get serious about your cheap brushes then check out http://www.crownbrush.biz/and the ones from http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebstore/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_ID=37 (Crown Brushes supplies Coastal Scents so they're essentially the same brushes).
Quick review on Crown Brushes: http://nessasarymakeup.blogspot.com/2008/07/crown-brushes-nyx-jumbo-lip-pencil.html
shit rachel. 2nd picture. sexy, can i?
gigi, sonia kashuk brushes are real good quality cheap brushes.
Rachel, you look like a hot librarian type. Lol.
I have some Essence of Beauty brushes from CVS. The face brushes aren't so great but the eyeshadow brushes are really good.
I've heard really good things about Loew Cornell which are actually artistry brushes but are soft enough for makeup. And they are only a few dollars each.
Some people use paint brushes instead of makeup brushes.
I would try that except I have no idea where a nearby craft store is. I don't want to spend money on a 239 brush from MAC if I can get one for like $3.00 at Michael's.
I was just watching that a few nights ago to get some info on Loew Cornell.
I got like 5 art stores near me. Might go check them out soon.
yep. just need to feel the bristles on art brushes.
This should be in wishlist but too lazy to go there.
What it claims: Apply this morning and night for longer lashes. Protects your lashes throughout the day, hydrating them and providing them with greater firmness. Apply before using an eyelash curler to give your lashes a longer-lasting curl. Can also be used as a base for your mascara, increasing volume and helping application of mascara. Transparent, so won't affect the color of your eyelashes.
Apparently, it works.
a lot of that stuff claims that it works. i use lipocils.
^That's almost 4 times as expensive. =(
i actually have the loew-cornell maxine's mop. koren talks about it at 4:40 - got it from michael's for 2.50! michael's has sales semi-often and they DO have coupons (where you get them i dont remember...) so that's extra-win.
something i did for my sister at 3AM. lol. :)))
*images taken down
she currently claims to not be able to wash her face because she thinks its too pretty.
-_-!!!
f*g, man. f*g.
damn dawg your make up skills is so clean
HAY SANDY remember to post that video of you plucking your eyelashes.
Try putting concealer on first then. Usually people advise to do concealer last since foundation tends to rub off the concealer, but since you're having the reverse problem...
Or revise how you're putting on foundation/concealer in the first place. How are you applying it?
It just sounds like you have oily skin and your makeup ain't staying. My concealer rarely stays and my face always looks crappy at the end of the day too. It's been better now that I use a powder foundation versus a liquid. Maybe try a foundation more suited for oily skin?
^ I hate Bare minerals! I used to use it. But I def need to get a primer.
Thanks for the help guys :) Once I get a little money, Im heading over to sephoras and getting a whole face set.
ooh. which active ingredient is it?
Dimethicone
i like the cat eyes / wings effect with the eyeliner.
D:
It all comes with lots of practice.
Has anybody tried the Too Faced Shadow Insurance? My UDPP is no longer liking me. I owe pics of my makeup, keke.
People say it's not much different that UDPP.
Mmm, yeah? I heard it's easier to blend our colors and isn't a pain in the ass to use. f*ck you genie bottle.
