I'm 19 years old, have been seeing my boyfriend for near 18 months and intend to keep my virtue until after we're married.

^Same:]. I don't believe in sex before marriage unless I am hella in love with the guy. Even yet, I might not because losing my virginity means a lot. Girls that lose their virginity before before they are marry are obviously desperate in my point of view. I can wait thnx.

Obviously desperate?!? Have you ever heard of trying it before you buy it? Sex is an important part of a relationship, and if the sex is miserable your relationship is likely to be miserable.

I'm not saying go out and fornicate with every dude you have ever had a crush on. I am saying, when you've been with someone for years and you really love them sex is okay. Even if you don't end up marrying that person you can look back on it and be happy that you lost your virginity to someone you cared about so much.

You make a good point Missfits; but some girls (some boys too!) are very protective of their virginity. It can be through upbringing, religion or just a personal choice. It was choice for me; and although I love my boyfriend dearly and would love nothing better than to diddle his brains out sometimes, I make myself wait. I love the idea that virginity is a 'gift' that is given on a wedding night, and I do so want to give that gift to my husband.

As for the 'trying it before you buy it' side of things...I'm sure practise will make perfect even if either of you suck! You have the rest of your lives together to perfect the art of lovemaking. laugh.gif

It's not that I don't agree with waiting until your married. It's a sweet thing to to, but MadGamer said "obviously desperate" and that didn't sit right with me.
Sure, sex is a gift but just because I gave it to someone before I was married doesn't mean I am "obviously desperate".

I lost it at fourteen to a friend.

Sex doesn't mean much to either of us. To me, it's not that big of a deal. O_o

I find that such a difficult concept to understand, crueldade! Sex is the ultimate expression of love (and lust!)...

I guess it just goes to show.

No but seriously I don't think its that big of a deal, I hate the idea of it being a gift, you lose something and no one gains it so how is it a gift? idk I just don't think its a big deal. Im still a virgin though.

i was 16. i even thought about it for like 2 hours. i didn't really care. it was going to happen eventually and might as well lose it to someone i "loved" at the time. i'm celibate now, i don't regret it. [it sucked so bad haha] even though i sound like i'm saying, "whatever idc", i'm not saying go have sex with everyone. i couldn't have sex with random people like at parties and live with myself.

"Have you ever heard of trying it before you buy it? Sex is an important part of a relationship, and if the sex is miserable your relationship is likely to be miserable."

so true. on every talk show they talk about cheating and it's 99% connected to not getting their sex fulfilled.
personality towards relationships can only go so far, seriously.

Haha, maybe jeanna! There is the whole 'seize the moment' philosophy vs the 'wait and see' one. But I do think that people that go on chatshows have more issues to them than just bad sex lives laugh.gif To be frank, I don't think I could sleep with anyone besides my future husband. I'm a bit fastidious about it really.

Though I feel I've got to say (again) that although I have been seeing my boyfriend for a year and a half, we're both very happy to wait and consummate our love until after marriage.

It is a personal choice; it's always about choice. There is no right or wrong with this. _smile.gif

I believe I lost my virginity when I was 13 to my ex boyfriend. I don't regret it. =) I mean, sure it would always be nice to wait til marriage but in most cases that doesn't happen.

What is virginity but an imaginary thing? Is it physical? Or is it emotion? Or is it mental?

Physically, it's the hymen. But it is more than that and virignity refers to a purity in spirit and mind, as well as body. It's often referred to as innocence - which is why in a lot of myths and legends, virgins are often gifted with foresight or magical abilities. Once they lose their virginity, they lose their gifts. Sounds to me a lot like an incentive to remain celibate! laugh.gif Not sure if I'd like the trade-off though, haha.
