Ok, so I got Adobe Photoshop CS4 to actually work on Linux without doing some stuff that tutorials kept telling me to do. However, I think it's not really as good as I thought it would be without actually installing Photoshop with the installation wizard. See, I'm using Wine to open .EXE application files and such and Wine comes with it's own "C:\" drive, so to speak. So, I figured why not just copy all the Adobe Photoshop CS4 files from the Windows FileSystem (which I already have Photoshop on) and place them into Wine's Program Files. From there, I configured Wine's library to override amtlib.dll (to fix a font layer issue with CS4) and all that good stuff. Then, I managed to find a file called "Photoshop.exe" which opens the program (if you go into any of your computer's program files, you should usually find the name of the program and then .EXE after it, which "loads" the program). My brain hatched an idea; Right Click "Photoshop.exe">Select "Open with Wine Windows Program Loader". And hoozah, it opened successfully. I can create new files, choose dimensions, pick different colors, use gradients, use the paint brush, and basically any other tool.

But, here's a biggie. A lot of the "commands" or whatever they're called in Photoshop (like the File Menu, Edit Menu, etc.) don't seem to be functional (I can't click on them). If I try to open a file (CTRL+O or File>Open) and I pick a file; it freezes and it tells me if I want to wait more or just close the program. That can't be good. I also tried to paste stuff into Photoshop; no dice. I even went as far to open the File Manager, drag a program, and drop it into Photoshop, but that didn't work either.

I know I'd probably get some responses like "Just use Windows if you really need Photoshop" but meh, I really want to stick with Linux from now on and besides, I've come pretty far to even open the damn program. So, I beg of you, would you be willingly enough to help to get Photoshop to fully operate?

EDIT:
Also, I just figured if I try using the Type tool, the program just completely exits out.

And here's a nifty screenshot for y'all:

See, my CS2 installation doesn't have any of these problems.

also on winehq, cs2 has gold/silver/platinum ratings all across while CS4 is all garbage ratings.
