i cant wear eyeshadow because i have no eyelids, it pisses me off to see other girls wear eyeshadow and eyeliner on the lids!!

know what i mean..?
its such a hassle to put make up on that i just give up!!

Posted by: Dragonfly_babe Jun 17 2006, 11:09 PM

yes u can wear eyeshadows. Just apply the shadow to the top of ur lid. Smoky colors looks best on asian women.

Let me get this straight, you have NO eyelids? That would mean that you'd have your empty eye socket, and then an eyeball just hanging there surrounded by bone.

Everyone has eyelids, dear. But I get what you mean. I'm Chinese, too, and I don't have deep set eyes, but at least I do have some sort of a crease.

I avoid harsh dark eyeliner because it makes my eyes look even smaller (and, plus the fact that I'd look like a whore, but that's besides the topic). If I were you, I'd avoid it at all costs. Unless you're going for an evening out and want to make it more dramatic. Even then, I'd avoid liner on the lower lashline and NEVER line around the entire eye.

Matte shadows look horrible on me. Sparkles are a little overboard. I go for something in the middle. I find that using a more shimmery, glistening cream shadow in a pale gray on my upper lids and the inner corners of my eyes really catches and reflects the light, and makes my eyes look bigger and more awake. Especially in the inner corners/tear ducts. It really helps.

I drew a picture on Paint because I was really bored, and also because I'm a visual learner.

The areas circled in red should have the highest concentration of colour. Notice how the upper lid is shaded so that it follows the contours of the brow bone. =)

^wow thanks for the diagram:)

LOL, no eyelids?

Posted by: salcha4u Jun 26 2006, 11:31 PM

She means she doesn't have double eyelids.

Posted by: yanners Jun 26 2006, 11:45 PM

Quite a lot of Asians do have double eyelids actually.

I'm pretty sure we knew that's what she meant, but I was just poking fun at her exagerrated-ness. happy.gif

And also...even if you're Asian and you do have double eyelids, the eye shape is way different than that of a non-Asian. There is almost no depth in the crease and so less of the eyelid is exposed. They're much less deep-set.

just put fake lashes on the top to replace eyeliner. it looks better than eyeliner anyway.

i'm not asian but i know where you're coming from
my friends are always like ahh i cant see my eyeshadow or eyelashes
and my friend even buys different stuff to stiffen her lids.
either like these tape strips or this sticky glue-ish stuff
she told me about people getting surgeries too
that's a lot for eyelids but i guess i cant really see it from your view

Posted by: Endless_Symphony Jul 1 2006, 11:25 PM

most asians i see without double eyelids is koreans.

learn to use makeup past your crease.

Posted by: lanbexx Jul 2 2006, 12:00 AM

Posted by: APPLEjuicex Jul 2 2006, 01:01 AM

Oooh, I know those tape stuff. They sell them a lot in Japan and a lot of my friends use them too. Or there's that glue stuff for your eyelids so you can get a crease. Heard they work really well and it's hard to notice the glue... or something like that.

It's not just Korea. Cosmetic surgery for double eyelids is available all over the world, but it's just especially popular in Asia, in this case Korea because many Koreans don't have double eyelids.

Posted by: swaying Jul 2 2006, 10:36 AM

i want creases but i dont think im gonna go through surgery to get them..haha...or travel to japan(although i want to) lol

Posted by: n_Oodles Jul 25 2006, 02:02 PM

Ohh, I know a lot of Filipinos that have double eyelids. Pretty sure it's natural though.

I'm Korean and I have double eye lids.

Posted by: xchrystizzle Jul 28 2006, 10:50 AM

i'm half asian. and sometimes i have double eyelids. sometimes only one eye decides to have a double eyelid, and the other one decides to go asian. joy. _dry.gif

but gigiopolis, i think you're awesome, your explaination + diagram is too. i've saved it on my comp for future reference whistling.gif

Posted by: Kathleen Jul 28 2006, 01:08 PM

You did the diagram on Paint? That's crazy. worthy.gif Hmm.. well.. I have double eyelids myself (duh), but I know this girl who doesn't, and well, her makeup's usually pretty sweet:

Posted by: Shortiiex Jul 28 2006, 08:52 PM

i know what you mean..it annoys me too, so i apply a lot of eyeshadow..

so when I'm 18 i going to get the double line done. biggrin.gif

Posted by: febek Aug 12 2006, 09:41 PM

haha its weird cus i am chinese..and i do have eyelids and deep folds so..i guess i can wear it

nice diagram :)

Posted by: lilvietdevilgrl Sep 5 2006, 11:50 PM

I don't have the crease but i wear eyeliner and sometimes eyeshadow and it looks fine.

If you wear eveyshadow, make it darker near yuor eyelash and lighten it as you go up, you might want to make it go a bit high just beacuse when you open your eyes part of the eyeshadow disappears, so if you had put it high it gives the illusion that you have the crease, or at least it does to me.

Posted by: x.d.o.0.f.u.s Sep 6 2006, 04:32 PM

well i think it's go out for asian general because some chinese does have eyelids and many other kind of asian doesnt either

i wear eye liners all the time, it's just sometime ppls that doesnt have eye lids wear eyeliners sometime can look like MAJORLY evil LOL. i only have a little bit of eyelid but it's still something.

Posted by: knakano Sep 10 2006, 01:30 AM

love your eyes for who you are and it wont matter =)
i wouldn't suggest surgery though x_x
one of my friends had it done to her eyes and..
uhh..
lets just say it came out kinda weird
(plus the fact it was like "WHOA" when i first saw her)
for makeup though, eyeliner on the bottom works well
but going overboard on eyeshadow doesn't help much

p.s. i dont know if this works for all
but sometimes i wake up and i dont have my double fold
*staying up too late at night makes them puffy*
and i get vaseline and crease my eyes
and they come back O_o

Posted by: This Confession Sep 10 2006, 05:59 AM

I don't see how it would be really hard. I see people pull it off great all the time. maybe you just need some practice at getting it down?

Posted by: JenxCrazii Feb 28 2007, 05:05 PM

i`m asian too. i kinda have the same problem.
i have eyelids now; but not before.
when i was little, i used to have no eyelids.
then i had it for one eye; my right eye.
i wanted it for both of my eyes. but no.. i dunno what happened.
i don't think mine is natural.

Posted by: hixfive Mar 3 2007, 06:08 PM

im asian and i have deep folds
but once again you can put it on the top of your lid

Posted by: mishyerr Mar 12 2007, 05:06 PM

i wear eyeliner on top and bottom of my eyes, and i have single eyelids. shrugs*
you can wear eyeshadow. just learn how to do it right.

Posted by: aznxdreamer Mar 14 2007, 11:54 PM

most asians have double eyelids but its jsut that we dont have deep set eyes like white people do. our faces are flat.

Posted by: pandamonium Mar 15 2007, 12:31 AM

lol im asian and i have no eye lids muahahaha

Aggh! Me too! How do you put makeup on? Mine always turns out uneven and looks stupid, so I just don't wear it.

Posted by: Chérie. Mar 15 2007, 10:46 PM

Um. I am Asian and I can put eyeshadow just fine.

What are you guys complaining about?

ME TOO....
mad.gif it bugs me so much.
also... i don't know if it's just me but when i put on eyeliner (on double eyelids) it doesn't really show obviously. is this just me?

Posted by: gigiopolis Mar 18 2007, 12:12 AM

^ No, it's not just you.

It's a not a surprise, really, just the structure and appearance of an Asian eyelid. Single eyelids don't usually show the lashline at all (the one eyelid covers it up). So you might end up putting more eyeliner on. But that ends up making you look whore-ish. Which is why I stray away from eyeliner.

But, on my good days, when my eyelids are more defined, I use eyeliner, sparingly.

I like to use an eyeshadow more, to create an illusion of depth in the eye socket. I use a lighter, light-reflecting shade of eyeshadow to catch the light in the most beneficial areas - inside corner of the eye and under the brow. This makes the eyes look bigger. Curling your lashes also works wonders to open up your eye.

Posted by: &/degradanca. Mar 18 2007, 03:13 AM

^do you find your lashes stay curled throughout the day?
pinch.gif my eyelashes are of medium length but they point straight down. i'm currently using shu uemera's eyelash curler and it doesn't pinch my eyelids but the curl goes away in only a few hours... sometimes i feel it's a waste to even use eyeliner / mascara?

Posted by: gigiopolis Mar 19 2007, 12:37 AM

^ Do you use mascara after curling your lashes? That should hold your curl for at least a few more hours than that.

Posted by: &/degradanca. Mar 19 2007, 05:19 AM

yeah, i do. i don't know if this is related but it's always super freaking humid here and a lot of asian girls complain about this. blink.gif

should i curl in 3 places, maybe? the curl at the top, middle and bottom of your lashes technique?

Posted by: gigiopolis Mar 20 2007, 12:51 AM

^ That's supposed to work, although it liks...totally doesn't for me. It gets all weird...

Try professional eyelash curling, that'll actually last you a good month.

Posted by: lilxl0ser Mar 21 2007, 10:16 PM

you can still wear eye make up...just apply it like above-ish? lol i have like really small eyelids i think. so yeah i do that a lot :P

Posted by: cupcakex Mar 23 2007, 12:11 AM

Yeah, you just need some practice.
The best thing for you to do is put a darker shade on the actual lid of your eye, because you DO have one, and then a lighter shade, just above, right where the crease begins.

Using too much make up will make you look trashy, since you are asian, and you have smaller eyes.

One of my friends, who's white, has a situation like yours.
She gets very frustrated trying to put make up on, but we recently started expirementing, and things have gotten easier, since she's been getting practice.

And, as so many other have said, for you doing that diagram in paint, good job.
