The one gadget that grabbed everyone at Engadget's attention right at the beginning of the show was Toshiba's new Gigabeat S Series Portable Media Center. Portable video players are a dime-a-dozen these days, but the new Gigabeat looks like it'll have the skills to take on the iPod: a sleek, thin, light brushed aluminum casing, a crisp, bright QVGA display, and -- and here's the really important part -- it offers full integration with Vongo, that new online video download subscription service from Starz that'll let you download as many movies as you want from their catalog and watch them on your portable device.

amazing. 20 hours of music and 5 hours of video is awesome. so wait lemme get this straight you can download from the Gigabeat like download video?

I was telling a few guys at work about this awesome player, pity they wouldn't believe me. They keep going IPOD! IPOD! IPOD! I think I might consider giving up my H10 for this neat little device. One thing I don't see though is the voice recorder which may come in handy for me.
and for $299, that would be a better deal than the 5th Generation iPod, since you get a few extra features, and a smaller player.
This is a really nice looking player as well...

Anyone have pics of the Piano Black 60 gig one ? Im interested in this, but my mind has been set on the u10 for so long. But although the iRiver has better features IMO, the toshiba kills the iRiver with its storage capacity.

theoretically, it can play anything windows media player can play ( i think. i think it plays a certain few, and windows media converts the rest to one of those)

i don't know how my class did, but most people i talked to had over 210

don't think there'll be vorbis support.
it does, after all, run on microsoft's PMC software.
what i want is this, and a toshiba quosimo.
why buy shows when you can use a media center TV to transfer to this player?

I read the cnet report on it. The side buttons were confusing? Lmao. Play/pause, next track, last track, etc. Unlabeled?!
