Posted by: iExquisite Jun 15 2009, 03:28 PM

Yes the SAT's!
its just one of those exams that i feel i have and i want to do great on
my score doesn't have to be the highest i just want a score that
get get me accepted into colleges
i am currently out of school for the summer and i will be in the 11th grade the next school year
would you recommend me start practicing now or
should i start 3 months before the test?

And any other SAT practice resources would be very appreciated!

I recommend just getting some sort of study guide, there's tons of them out there. Then take the PSAT it will tell you what you need to work on.

Get SAT for dummies.
It helped me.

I would focus on that then retest.

ok but what to mean retest?
you mean like retake the PSAT?

Posted by: ley Jun 15 2009, 03:56 PM

Nope i think you can only take that once, but i hear there are other practice tests out there.

Posted by: iExquisite Jun 15 2009, 03:57 PM

Yes you can only take it once
i asked that just to clarify on the "retest" thing

Pretty much every bookstore has a section for SAT/ACT prep with books and materials. Also, your school will probably have study groups after school as the date for the test is nearing.

should i get the books and start going over them now or
should i wait until the test is? near

You can pick up books now. A lot of books have practice tests in the back of them and it wouldn't be a bad idea to go through one of the practice tests to see what areas need improvement. Work on it little by little so that you don't have to cram everything in the week before the test.

Posted by: darktron55 Dec 1 2009, 12:04 AM

My school makes us take an SAT prep course... its getting me to do a lot more work than I would have done on my own

Posted by: HeartOfPandora Dec 1 2009, 12:13 AM

Wow I'm behind. Graduating in half a year and I haven't done SAT or ACT.

^What state do you live in? It's required to graduate here.

I took my PSAT this year, and I'm planning on taking the SAT next year or in 10th grade. :|

MN and yeah it's required, I just haven't done them yet. We don't have a specific date set where everybody takes it and then you're done. You do this shit on the weekends whenever you sign up, but my f*cking school doesn't even tell us when the dates are coming up which is why I'm still lacking. hammer.gif

I had to go through that not too long ago

I took tutoring twice (one for three months prior to my act then one for the whole summer stubborn.gif): ) and I didn't do too hot on my first 2 ACT's
The third time i did nothing, i was in school by then and i did better

So imo try things out, trying tutoring, and know that you can always try again (cant you for SATs?)
but also relax the stress will definitely get to you

The S.A.T.'s are a huge bitch but I never took any classes or studied for them. The first time i did really well, the second time i did significantly worse (hungover) and the third time I did awesome my finals scores were something like 690 math 710 reading and 720 writing after combining all my best scores. Just be chill about it and relax stressing out does nothing but hurt you.

Posted by: Beenly Feb 26 2010, 05:04 PM

Thank god someone invented PSAT.

Posted by: spambot Feb 26 2010, 05:06 PM

I only passed one of my set goals on this shit. BUT I MET AVERAGE

Posted by: Uso Feb 26 2010, 05:15 PM

This may sound really dumb
....Do you guys have ACT's or does Michigan only do that?

Posted by: spambot Feb 26 2010, 05:20 PM

lol we have those. I always mix them up with the SATs. I think the ACTs is what I bombed.

Posted by: LittleMissSunshine Feb 27 2010, 02:05 PM

you can take the PSATS again in your 11th grade year. you have just have to pay, i'm pretty sure that you can cause juniors are allowed to take the PSATS for the national merit scholarship. take it again, and if you don't do so well. it's otay, cause you still have till spring to take your SAT. so just practice in the SAT guide. if anything buy old ones from online, they are cheaper and it is the same thing than buying the new ones. good luck :D!
