This is the CB Book Club! Once a month we will read a new book. The suggestions for books will be rotated among the members. The person who last chose the book will choose the next person.

The second Book we'll be reading is What is the What - Dave Eggers
(Thank You JC for helping me choose!)

Previous Books:
- Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer
(Previous Thread)

For those of you that read Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close feel free to discuss your thoughts on it.

i liked Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. i didn't like the ending, it was too sudden. one minute things are going normal and 20 pages later the book is over all the sudden.

were we the only three who read it?

i got What is the What today, so i can get an early start instead of waiting two weeks in like last time. it has really good reviews.

you're welcome toya

I liked the climactic ending. He had spent all this time checking on every person and developing relationships with them and then he finally decided to do something about the key. His grandfather motivated him.

"CAN I HAVE A KISS?"
Nothing beats that. At first I didn't think the book was something I'd get into. But It was amazing. Some of the grandfather/grandmother parts were confusing but overall still good.

I was confused at first when they didn't really explain who was saying them, but I figured it out later...mostly. The whole airport business was a little fuzzy...they were there twice, right?

Yea towards the middle was when I started to figure out who was who. And I think he was at the airport twice because it seemed like they were doing somewhat different actions each time. The "yes and no" hand thing was pretty cool.

So, yeah, I read A Rose for Emily by Faulkner instead. I have yet to finish the recommended book. Anyone willing to share their thoughts on that short story?

I'm re-reading The Awakening this month. I have a feeling I'll be reading it more than three times. I'm in a Kate Chopin mood... forbidden sex with French words. Yummy.

I'm 50+ pages in. Right now it's a little...I don't know. Trying to be sympathy-inducing but...it's not getting too much out of me purely because of the presentation. If something wants to be sympathy-inducing, it usually doesn't work.

Let's hope it turns me around.

You know what was weird. I was going to go and borrow the book from the library but on Sunday I was at my friends house to use the bathroom and there was this one book on the floor, guess what it was? blink.gif What is the what.

I'm going to read Twilight this month, if that's cool. It should be arriving tomorrow or the next day. I've just been meaning to read it and finally have the chance.

Man I am not feeling this book....I get it; Sudan sucks. It's Sudan. Alright. You walked, and people died, and no one knows what you went through. What's the point?

Oy.

I'm like 220 in or something? I don't remember. It's not better yet. It's still the same thing. I think he's going to keep talking about this for the next 300 pages....
