My Host is was Freewebs. Then I had Godaddy & Yahoo! I loved it there.

I get a cheap godaddy domain name and I also get UNLIMITED bandwidth and space, hostees, emails and MORE! If you are looking for a host I'll host you. go here to see the rules!

NOW, I am hosted by Kya of Bubble.nu. She has her own forum, too!

okay so in the future, Im planning to buy a VPS plan but Im not sure who to go with..

preferably I would like
Linux not windows
at least 256RAM
at least 20GB disk space
preferably no plesk, instead Cpanel
bandwidth and burstable ram higher the better

all for max 25 a month. do you think its possible? I looked at surpass and dreamhost but im not familiar when dreamhost says its like a shared account and surpass is over my budget. {Mt} is just way too expensive, or should I just wait? until I become more financially free?

max $25 / month and actually very good? probably not. the least you can get a dreamhost vps for is $21 / month, but only if you pay 10 years in advance. if you do it monthly, the cheapest one (with 150 mb ram) is $26 + the $50 setup fee.

honestly, to get the best out of a virtual private server, your best bet is to up your budget to at least $50 a month. though, dreamhost would be a good choice for less than that, since you order a vps with your shared plan (meaning you get the 500 GB space & 5 TB bandwidth on your vps).

in all honesty, I just want to learn, Im very curious about the computer and internet, and I think it would be a great experience to learn how to install programs, and my other hosting plan is coming to a close soon (in about 3 months), so I was thinking about switching to VPS and offering hosting, but I dont really need it, I just want it cause Im greedy lol :]

Honestly, I am hosted by hiddenfake.com
and i think the 2 best hosting sites are so-pink.org (olivia kitty) and erin or hiddenfake. Olivia hosts everything for free and has two domain plans, one with 250mb and one with 10000 mb. Erin has one free hosting plans for 400 mb and like 4 other "budget plans" that coust under 5 dollars A YEAR! plus they are super nice!

Vintagehost.net has domain names for 4 bucks. Plus if you work for best buy's geek squad you get some kind of special offer. They're pretty trustworthy.

I'm currently purchasing a sweet domain on
Parade Hosting.

I have to say that it's one of the best hosts that I've seen overall. 20 GB w/ free domain and unlimited FTP Accounts, Cpanel, add-on domains & sub-domains, and so much more for only $10 a month?!

Can you say heaven? biggrin.gif

Yeah I'm currently being hosted by So-Pink, too! I think it's great but I kind of feel pressured to be part of the So-Pink network since the host is so mature and uptight with web designing and such. sad.gif I guess that's why I'm buying my own domain, so I can be freeeee. happy.gif

Either way, So-Pink is awesome and they're really helpful when it comes to random hosting problems. biggrin.gif

I was wondering ... what about those free web hosting places like

http://www.byethost.com
http://x10hosting.com/
http://www.hoxt.com
etc

They have a decent amount of disk space and monthly tranfers. A couple of them allow ftp and all the scripts and all that.

I don't have my own domain and I'm willing to use their subdomains (even though some of them are not that appealing. I just want to try to use these free ones to test out having my own site so that I know if it's worth it for me to buy my own hosting later on down the road.

But I don't know what's a good one!! Anyone have any experiences with these kinds of free webhosting and suggest what's a good one to use as experimentation? I want to do a blog/small portfolio kinda thing.

I am with some free hosts now , want to go for paid hosting soon.

Which free hosts are you with? Are they decent for someone who wants to try out making a website before they buy one?

the list of hosts you guys have provided are very nice but most of them add Advertisements, strange pop-ups, add their own codes to track the site material, never actually spot any hackers or bots, and block some users that their main domain doens't want entering, they are extra friendly by keeping a small unprotected database where hackers can easily find flaws in the code & you can end up without a subdomain.

one of my affiliates had an issue with some hacker and he/she destoryed their files and now, my affiliate no longer has a site to offer. so be sure to read between the lines of these so called "free" hosts, read their terms of services, private policies, abuse page if they have one, and the terms of use for your own safety. i know it can be a lot of reading, but know for sure you're getting the better end of the deal.

that's all i wanted to comment on since you guys are so helpful in offereing so many hosts, many of which i've tried but have had some unpleasent results from doing so. don't fall into plans or tricks by hosts that view you as a future asset, watch your own back.

best of luck!

I once used Bravehost and 000WebHost for free hosting. I think 000WebHost was pretty good for a free host and if you're just wondering, I'm currently with a paid host called FatCow.

I use godaddy; my only issue is that they don't help in any installation of third party scripts like ioncube.

I actually ended up signing with ByetHost and so far so good for free webhosting. You just have to use Firefox in order to sign up for an account.
