Or at least these pictures!
COLOURIZATION CONTEST The Pictures: Pick ONE. The Objective Well, to, uh, basically color the picture the best. Ouch, that sounded like it broke like every grammar rule, but, basically make it look THE MOST realistic as possible. Remember, your skin tone has many shades and different tones of one color. It's not just one layer. Add depth and realism! Don't be afraid to get detailed! The Particulars -->Final product must have some colourization added to it. Don't turn in the b/w. Come on, people. -->Dimension must be NO LONGER than 600px in length or width. All of these pictures either have 1200 as their length and width, so, just change that 1200 to 600 and leave the other number alone. Just some uniformity. -->Strict colourization. Don't add brushes (Major big brushes..small ones to add some influence are okay) Borders are okay, of course. YOU ARE ALLOWED TO CHANGE THE BACKGROUND, but don't use brushes/textures on your colourization -->NAME YOUR FINAL PRODUCT! Be creative. It's fun. :D --> DEADLINE: JUNE 1, 2007 BY 12:00 NOON CENTRAL STANDARD TIME (US) --> SEND ALL ENTRIES TO ME WITH "Colourization Contest" as SUBJECT. DO NOT MAKE A THREAD DISPLAYING YOUR COLORIZATION Knock yo' self out! |

Question: is it alright to change up the background? I'm planning on using a texture, but I'm not sure if that breaks the "strict colourization" rule. The texture covers only a bit of the hair and a bit off her shoulder, everything else is the picture in its original colourized form. Is that alright?
Oh, also: is cropping of the image alright? Not crazy-cropping, of course, but I'm talking maybe half her hand, a bit of her shoulder or something. The reason is that when I resize it to 600 px min in width/length, the image is incredibly small. (I had to expand image to include a title). Actually, you'll probably get a better sense of it when I send it over, but thanks anyway. |

well i don't think u want to over do it with the cropping, and texture shouldn't be a problem if its just the background and not her since it breaks the "strict colourization" rule
i guess its it some small cropping with a final length of 600 things are fine right? |

Gigi- Your entry is perfectly acceptable. I meant the brushes/textures towards more of the colourization of her face and what not. Some people use those, and, I don't think its well, a colourization if you did. But you coloured her and it's beautiful! Totally acceptable.

I think she meant she doesn't want people to turn in the original black and white photo with either nothing or barely anything done to it.
The other question she can answer for you when she gets back. |

Toya was right. I was saying just don't turn in something not edited.
Well, about the sepia. As long as it DOESNT look like all you did was add an adjustment layer on top that changes the whole thing to brown then it should be okay. You'd still have to create multiple layers to get the multiple tones of anyones skin colour. AND ABOUT TIME ROBBI! God. Your colorizations are amazing. I should've PM-ed you. |
