So, I've recognized and am at peace with my nail polish addiction. I don't know how it happened. I tried to stop, I tried to cut back. I just can't help myself. I'm addicted to buying nail polish. I paint my nails a different color every day, right before I head to work.

I am a nail polish addict and today I wear: 430 Hard Edged, made by Rimmel (Play Fast).

Wow, how do your nails deal with the nail-polish remover? I think mine would be weird if I painted them and used remover on them so often.

Posted by: superstitious Nov 12 2007, 05:15 PM

I used a non acetone nail polish remover, so my nails (or fingertips) don't feel odd or weak. I also keep my nails really short, since it's easier to type that way.

I rarely, if ever polish my nails. Manicures are nice though. _smile.gif

when i got one the asian lady grabbed my hand and put it up the light while saying, "oh you so white!!"

XD

^ Hahaha.

I got my nails done once last year, and I got the gel nails. The person who did them pretty much cut up the skin around my nails and then my fingers got infected from the gel stuff. It hurt (and looked) so bad! Never again.

I like to paint my nails, though, usually a nutural color. I don't know why, it makes my nails feel stronger and shinnier.

Aww, thats cute.
The lady I go to is Vietnamese, and super sweet. She can't say my name so she just calls me "Dawenes doytah".

I figured out what "doytah" is, but what's "Dawenes" supposed to mean?

I've never heard of gel nails. It sounds painful what happened to you, Dee. pinch.gif

It's been a really long time since I even used clear polish on my nails.

Posted by: superficial Nov 12 2007, 05:54 PM

My nails are glow in the dark. eyebrowes.gif I bite my nails a lot, so putting on nail polish restrains me from doing so.

Dawene = Daylene, my mom. It's an uncommon name.

My collection is still growing with my cosmetics collection. I'm not really satisfied with the colors I have now since most of them are "boring." I'd like to get brighter colors. I have a slight addiction and paint them a different color every week. :3

Posted by: na-nancy Nov 12 2007, 08:26 PM

im a nail addicted freak!
i grow or try to grow them long
and i used to have a biting habit on them since the 2nd grade!
Polishing my nails keeps me from biting on them, i know..EWWW...
out of the habit now..
anyways, i love doing french manicures on my nails, they're pretty long so it looks really nice.
I'm not so addicted to keep on buying more colors, i just paint my nails a new color every week.
And do touch ups EVERYDAY....> <
better then biting nails,right???

Posted by: WickedDreamer Nov 12 2007, 09:01 PM

I repaint mine every few days. I can actually count on two hands how many days I've gone without nail polish in the past six months. My fingers just look weird without polish on them! I like to go with brighter, unique colors. Right now they're a metalic-y purple. I think I'm gonna go lime green next. I always keep them short though since I type a lot for my blog and novel.

Posted by: revoltaire Nov 12 2007, 10:37 PM

i love dark matte purple, matte navy, or nudes and neutral shades on nails. i almost never paint my nails though because i do a lot of rough work.

Posted by: RogueVanity Nov 13 2007, 03:50 AM

I loveee nail polish, my nails look naked without any! I used to be hugely addicted as well, but I've come to stop buying 5 bottles a day, haha.
I do keep my nails short though, so I go for bright bold shades.

I love nail polish too!
Except my parents get pissed if I wear it, for some strange reason. blink.gif

I wear my toenails painted regularly now. I began this practice after receiving some 'less than positive' comments on the condition of my feet when wearing sandals at a family function. I decided right there that I would do something about it, and so I scheduled my first pro pedicure at a nail salon for the very next week.

The pedicure, foot massage, nail trim and buffing was a very enjoyable experience and the results were amazing! But, my feet were not instantly transformed, it took a few months of care to get them to look neat, smooth, properly cared-for and presentable.
Near the end of one of the pedicures, it was suggested that I might try nail polish to make them look 'more professional'. I thought they meant 'colored' nail polish, so I chose a darker blue metallic color that I thought looked more masculine. Once applied, I rather liked it, so I continued to wear it with sandals. That generated a number of positive comments from people I would meet (many women!) and so I decided that it was something I would continue to do. It was a lot better feedback than what I had experienced in the past! Even my family (after getting over the initial shock) prefer the way it looks over what my feet previosly looked like.

I cannot say that I ever intended to wear my toenails polished, but now it is something that I thoroughly enjoy because it looks great! I enthusiastically encourage men to give this a try (or maybe girlfriends or wives suggest it) because it is nothing short of amazing what it feels like and how great it makes your feet look.

BTW, I am not sure why anyone would think this is only for an 'alternative' group. I am happily married and 100% straight, and I really enjoy having my nails complimented!

Oh, I am so lazy with my fingernails. I often absentmindedly bite a finger or two and so become too lazy to paint them. I do love nail polish though.

Recently I've been addicted to painting my toes. Right now they're a hot pink colour, looks greeeeat with sandals.

Posted by: dhxdezigns Aug 29 2008, 06:53 PM

I rarely paint my nails. They used to chip too easily because of the sports and stuff I did. Now I'm just too lazy to paint them all the time. Most of my polishes are neon though ^-^

Posted by: Lahlizzdah Aug 30 2008, 12:05 AM

i haven't really been able to have long nails in about ten years, thanks to piano, but i still love painting them when they're short. i used to only go for purple, but now i like (as well as purple) red and pink, light blue, silver, bronze/brown and black. my mom hates the black, but i think it looks classy.

whenever i do two tones (on each nail) i get a ton of compliments, and everyone says that they would never have the patience to do it themselves, but it really doesn't take very much skill or extra time.

I love nail polish. I change it daily to match my eyeshadow. This company, milani, they make very pretty and bright eyeshadows and nail polish that matches.
Today, it's a very sparkly green.

Posted by: greeentea Aug 30 2008, 06:37 PM

i still continue buying multiple bottles of opi even though i never paint my nails cause i have gels. i think i have around forty bottles of opi. i buy colours like bright orange or dark gray even though i know i would never wear colours like that. i like to think its "cute" ;).

Posted by: hi-C Aug 31 2008, 05:32 PM

OPI is kind of expensive, no?

I love Milani! =D

I'm addicted to nail polish when I have nails to paint. Since I've stopped (again) recently, they're now a nice bright pink.

Posted by: MissFits Sep 1 2008, 05:39 PM

Mine are pink today, as well.

I don't know what the color is called, but it's milani. That's the only kind of nail polish I have, I think.

Bumping this because I want to know your opinions as to who makes the best nail polish. I need to invest in some because Sally Hanson is not working for me right now.

Posted by: Gigi Dec 12 2008, 05:44 PM

OPI
China Glaze
essie

Have also heard that Sinful Colors is good for the price...$1.99 I believe :D

Posted by: WhiskeyBattery Dec 12 2008, 05:54 PM

Nail Polish: Sexable.

I love nailpolish. Especially the sparkly ones tongue.gif rolleyes.gif

aw, why not?

i like sally hansen nail polish. i usually get bored and change my nails after a week, so durability isnt really an issue for me.

^ I'd like my polish to last longer than a day. I did my nails on... Wednesday because I was going to a holiday party and they started chipping that night. Now they look atrocious. Well my left hand doesn't look nearly as bad as my right, but as I'm right handed that's to be expected.

But look at my right ring finger.

That's ridiculous!

Posted by: Gigi Dec 12 2008, 08:26 PM

Do you do the whole base coat, polish, top coat deal? I find that when I do that, even with cheapo polishes, they last a whole lot longer. I still can't get a week out of it though.

Posted by: hi-C Dec 12 2008, 10:13 PM

I do! I guess I'm using the wrong polish for my base/top.

Posted by: hi-C Dec 19 2008, 10:15 PM

I just got some Rimmel polish (http://www.rimmellondon.com/US/products/nails/product.aspx?id=275 in "Grape Sorbet") and it is amazing. It said it didn't require top/base coat, so I tried that out, very dubiously might I add, and that night I cleaned the dishes AND washed my hair and there was no chipping whatsoever. I instantly became a fan. With the Sally Hansen Advanced Hard As Nails I bought today, I'll be pretty confident the next time I do my nails. My only complaint is that it goes on pretty sheer; I did 2 coats but a 3rd would've been necessary.

Posted by: Joss-eh-lime Jan 2 2009, 05:38 PM

i change nail colors at least once a week. i hate when it looks chipped & i love bold, bright colors!

my sister, however, is addicted and always comes home with a wacky color that i end up borrowing.

Posted by: Rachel Jan 2 2009, 07:06 PM

I just bought OPI for Sephora and it was fantassstic. The color is so dark but sparkly and fun too. It lasted pretty well and I'm sure if I had used a base+top coat it'd be bangin.

Posted by: IWontRapeYou Jan 2 2009, 08:52 PM

^ My friend just bought that for me for Christmas, same color plus a red one I think.

I like really bold colors, I have been looking for silver nail polish but can't find any.

Posted by: hi-C Jan 2 2009, 11:16 PM

I stay seeing silver polish. I got a Sinful Colors metallic-y silver from the beauty supply the other day. Which is lame because I'm looking for just a plain flat grey, no sparkles.

Posted by: YukkaPukka Jan 5 2009, 01:15 PM

I suck at putting on Nail Polish, so I have to have other people do it for me thumbdown.gif
Last night I attempted to put on some kind of blue shiny neon color. It's already messed up ;______;

Posted by: gojira Jan 5 2009, 01:21 PM

rofl when i werked at trade secret, i almost shat my pants looking at the price of OPI or essie. five finger discount, yes prz. i was in love with opi's charged up cherry (this bright ass pink).

mellow.gif Well OPI for Sephora is just the brand OPI with special colors for Sephora and I didn't say what color mine is. Either your a mind reader or just false.

Anyway, I'm bout to use it and paint my nails. It's called "I'm With Brad", how spiffy is that?!
