srry if there's a poll on this already... and srry if the poll doesn't work or something. this is my first so i'm not sure if i'm doing it right.. anyways, how do you react/what do you say when you're complimented on your look? i always think that ppl are joking or making fun of me...

i blush when people i don't know say that...when it's someone on the street i walk away but i'm secretly pleased...and when my boyfriend says it i tell him that he's pretty/hot/beautiful/sexy too

When someone i don't know says something nice to me i just smile and say thank you. But if its someone i know i will say thanks and give them a compliment too.

I always say thank you if its strangers, cuz theres no point in shooting down someone I dont know for being nice to me...But I never belive them. The reason is, no one I know ever really compliments me. My boyfriend NEVER does. And I guess I'm not really around many other people, except some of my chik friends, all with serious self esteem problems, meaning they would come closer to shooting you down when you look good instead of complimenting you...No one really ever gets genuine compliments around here...everyone is so mean!! I mostly get "oh ur hair looks cute" or "I like ur make up" not "Danelle u look pretty today." Only when I'm leaving for an audition. My cousin always tells me I look nice, to help my confidence a little.

I voted joking. Mostly because some people actually scuttle away laughing after they say it. I say thanks and everything.. and if they don't laugh, I'm happy. But when they do.. it really brings me down.

if i hear it from my friends, i think they are just saying it to be nice. but if they mean what they say, i think that they are crazy. i've also had a few people say that i'm not good looking. although it did hurt. i appreciate that they weren't lying to me.

this one time, a guy i don't even know came up to me and said something good about the way i look. i really thought he was joking and trying to insult me. because i just couldn't believe it to be true.

I feel the exact same way, but of its my bf i compliment him too and say stupid crap like your too good for me. but I blush on the inside.

I feel like most comment are directed to a girl across the street, and usually always to the girl walking next to me, I've been only complimented like 3 times by other guys in my life, and told I'm ugly by at least every other guy in the world.

i have like werid eyes like on the outside there dark blue but then going in they get lighter and lighter and then they turn white and they look freaky so when people look at my eyes they think there the best things in the world so i get it alot and i just get embarrsed

Usually it just makes me feel better..someone told me today I should be like a Vicotria Secret model, I was flattered although I knew he was crazy, haha.

So I guess I take it as a nice thing but don't look to much into it, because if you are so dependent on how people compliment you..when they insult you then you take that in just as much.

Once it was really funny though...this girl, she's my best friend's brother's girlfriend, & three years older than me- Once, she said that I had pretty eyes, & I just kinda blushed & smiled a little & softly said 'thanks'. It depends. If they say 'You're beautiful' or 'You're pretty', I feel really flattered and tell them thank you.

But if they say 'You're hot' or something like that, I get quite pissed. I just find saying it that way rude and ingenuine.

And if it's from someone that I don't particularly like or know, I might think they're joking. I find it rude when people comment about my look behind my back too. Whether it's positive or negative.

some people I cannot stand like to be sarcastic, and like to fool around with me. so, when they say I look nice, I know they are kidding. so, I just say something sarcastic back. but when real people say something, I grin and say, "aww, thanks!"

I get really shy. And, I'm kinda insecure about my looks, so I usually try to correct them in their wrong thinking, depending on what they're complimenting me on. If it's my eyes, it doesn't really phase me; people tend to talk about my eyes a lot, but anything else I usually try to say that it's not all that great.

I can't help grinning and I feel stupid and embarrassed. Most of the time I just say "thank you" while smiling when it comes from friends, and actually it mostly comes from friends. They especially compliment me on my clothes and my general appearence. When it's my bf, even though I don't always agree with him because I really don't consider myself pretty, I try not to hurt him so I accept his compliments and I blush with a shy "thank you" or "you're nice"

it often depends on who's saying it...if its my mommy, I take it gracefully, if its friends, i brush it off or act funny about it "oh i KNOW...thank you...get it all the time..." if its aquantences i am embarressed and don't know what to say, if its a boy....well its only happened like once but i either try to act funny or get embarressed...like "why are you telling me that?" you know? its hard to take it gracefully sometimes...even though thats the best thing you can do.

If I know the person, I say "No, stop it." But deep inside it, of course, makes me feel good. I blush and smile at them.
If it's someone I don't know I smile and sometimes say thanks.
But it's a rarity, so it's nice to hear it when the time comes.

Overall, it makes me feel good inside.
