I had closed the old thread and made this new one while Thomas was posting. :x

There's no "line" XD.gif it's certainly not on a first come first serve basis. There have been times when people have been hired and there wasn't a "hiring thread" too. Generally that's happening more and more, since why hire 4 people when one steps down? Have the right forum etiquette, know your stuff (if you should be on design staff). And be able to be here. Even though it's voluntary, you should still come on for at least 1-2 hours a day.

(so here's the last post of that thread)

Superstitious has been doing a helluva job! :P

//

But seriously, I've seen mannythedino....... I totally don't even know if that's her name anymore, but She's been very acting on the forums and I've noticed :D She's answered my questions a few times. She's quite helpful.

//

Hopefully that was helpful o.O

I haven't noticed any mods doing a bad job.... Yeah.. I'm pretty sure I would notice if a mod was doing something that I didn't like, so great job everyone! :D

Posted by: Beenly Mar 8 2009, 01:42 PM

When I meant line, I meant if you started to apply, usually there will be a plethora "x" amount of applicants.
Every staff as of now is doing a good job! cool.gif

No new "Staff Member of the Month" topic was made by staff.

There wasn't a clear winner in last month's SMotM thread: one vote each for Carrie and Diana, and one (or two? I couldn't tell if the "go jc" in http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=216728&view=findpost&p=3139824 was a vote or not) vote for JC who isn't even a staff member, technically, but deserves the title anyway.

Staff seems to be doing good, in general. We're at a good place right now, guys.

honestly thomas you need to just let it go already. I am not going to defend my ability to be a serviceable staff member, because obviously I must still be around for a reason. Your constant and never changing pretentious attitude is the reason why people really don't want you on staff tbh. Maybe if you just humbled yourself for once instead of acting like you are entitled to a position on staff, people would actually get along with and respect you better.

I don't know what that means, but I have no problem with the guy. I just find it amusing that he clearly is not taking it well that he has not been let back onto staff. My whole thing is that you are a teen in college....shouldn't you be out partying, getting drunk, and f*cking random tail?

I have called you pretentious on more than one occasion front and backstage, so if anything that is - 10 for you lol.

Didn't Jusun say that every mod should at least be here everyday, as well as post? We don't need more people ending up like Sang

Actually, Amanda posts Backstage more than she does outside of Backstage and I usually see her post once or twice everyday. She said she was having computer issues. I remember Kristina saying something about school or something hectic which is why she's not online that much. JaVonn's last post was on the 8th and it was in the Boardroom saying that he has some personal stuff he has to deal with. As for James, his last post was Backstage too but that was in January. "/

no worries, because you aren't on staff anymore so you don't have to worry about such things.

Quit being such a douchebag, you know as well as I do that the staff should be posting just as much on the community side of the boards as they should be posting backstage.

how am i being a douchebag by saying you don't have to worry about him telling you do that anymore?

Posted by: karmakiller Apr 15 2009, 08:33 PM

I don't post everyday. There have been plenty of times when I'm not here as an Admin. In all honesty, I'd rather not have mods posting useless things in the community just so that it looks like they are here.

Kristina - She was having some computer problems, and she probably wasn't able to make an announcement to CB that she was going to be gone. But she did let staff know that she was having computer problems, so DS/HS was prepared to cover for her if she couldn't get online.

Amanda - She still posts. She hasn't been as active as she was before, but she's well aware of that.

Javonn - He's going through some personal stuff, and I'm not going to put him on blast. He did the right thing by letting staff know that he won't be here until he gets things resolved.

James - He was a Mentor, which technically isn't a mod. He isn't a Mentor or Mod, so chill.

Honestly, just because a mod doesn't make an announcement to all of cb that stuff is going on that they have to take care it doesn't mean that staff doesn't know. I wouldn't want anyone to put cb first... and I also wouldn't want to hold it against someone if they had to step away from the computer to deal with some personal stuff.

If you're letting your personal life take over 100% you should have the decency to step down. Yah? This isn't the first time that Javonn's completely bailed out on cb and been gone for weeks at a time.
He didn't bail. He let staff know that he was going to need some time to tend to things that are going on in his life. He didn't know how long he'd be gone, which is why (I'm presuming) he didn't mention it to the community. Had he said he was going to be gone for __ amount of days, you probably would have said something in feedback when he wasn't back after that, right?

As far as Kristina and Amanda are concerned, they haven't been gone since being on staff. I guess I don't see the big deal, because all three of them let staff know that they were not going to be here. Had they just up and left then I'd be concerned.

Posted by: brooklyneast05 Apr 15 2009, 08:49 PM

I just wanted to say (not that have a place to say anything) that since I've been apart of this site Jusun has pretty much rarely been around. Nothing against him or anything (I'm not taking sides), but that's how it's always been for the most part and staff members (and community) just have to deal with that.

Also, why should mods be forced to post everyday? Seriously? I can see if you stop posting for a month or so, but every day? It's not that serious, I promise.

Posted by: heartquasm Apr 15 2009, 08:58 PM

my god, thomas. do you ever read what you post before posting? are you not aware that you come across as a complete dick who has no life other than to backseat mod cb?

Posted by: Deetard Apr 15 2009, 08:59 PM

We all knew you were f*cked up and all, Thomas, but seriously. The f*ck. I don't think that "poor people skills" can excuse your behaviour anymore.

That post alone was way bigger of a deal than a few staff members not being active all the f*cking time. I'd much rather have a few competent staff members that aren't on all the time, rather than an always active douchebag of a staff member.

So, they have to be active posters to get on staff, but once they're on staff they can just leave whenever they want and call "personal leave"?

No, they do not have to be active posters to get on staff. There are plenty of members who are active (posted a lot) who weren't on staff, in the past. I'm only referring to the past because you're bringing up old shit that isn't even important anymore.

Staff members are chosen because of their contributions, regardless of how much they post. Consider this: Someone posts 100 useful posts versus someone posting 500 posts that don't really contribute much. Who is more worthy of being on staff?

Yes they can leave whenever they want as long as it's personal leave, however it does make sense that people should not be constantly disappearing for long periods of time. I also went through this and I eventually stepped down. This was only a problem because I was ADMINISTRATOR and the fact that I was gone during a very crucial time (transition of cB to cb2 or cB3 or something, I forget) and a bunch of other stuff (by-laws, cB revolution, etc.). I did long in once every now and then (lol probably once a week or something and posted quite a bit when I could). shrug.gif That was the past though, and I would have to say that cB was MUCH MORE ACTIVE overall [back then]...

blah blah blah I'll post more later if I feel like it, but anyways the point I'm making is (sorry for being redundant) that at this time, it shouldn't really matter in terms of activity. Activity hasn't been a big problem because there isn't a bunch of spam or issues that need to be dealt with forum-wise, so what's the point in posting all the time? Shit, cB staff members aren't even getting paid for their time.

It doesn't happen every time someone speaks their minds. And in this case, the one who started the "nonsense," as you called it, was in fact, http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=219540&view=findpost&p=3173255. So while I do understand your call for maturity, and indeed, your instinct to defend Thomas, this time, it's better to leave well enough alone.

i don't get how re-reading the community guidelines would change the outcome. i don't think there's anything in there that says we can't disagree with someone when they are misinformed. which is what thomas is when he calls out people who have legitimate reasons for being gone and have already informed the staff of their reasons. on the other hand, i'm sure the community guidelines have something to say about thomas' bashing and racial comments shrug.gif

duno, i get what you're saying and i'd agree if it was anyone else fixtatik. i just don't agree when it comes to thomas becuase he's so irrational, flips out to such extremes and insults people personally when people disagree with him here. any provoking i did was after he'd already called me a douchebag so i don't feel that badly about it really, not to mention it wasn't even on the same level as his reactions to me.

Ok, first I'd like to say that I think it's great that you are trying to look at things from a go by the rules perspective and being the bigger "man", so to speak. However, when someone like Thomas (who I still believe needs a psychological evaluation) insults you on such a personal level, the game changes some... even if for a few posts. It's natural and understandable to defend yourself. Sarcasm is often the first weapon of defense. I think that for the most part, this situation was handled maturely and the counter posting stopped (especially after Dee posted, requesting that everyone move on).

I've made no secret that I refuse to read anything Thomas posts, unless he decides to use a different account to respond to me or someone quotes him, at which point, I can't help but see it. He insulted my child and myself (for having a disabled child), for no reason other than he couldn't come up with something logical or intelligent to counteract whatever drama he had cooked up for himself. As a mentor (and someone who helps out administratively), I shouldn't put people on ignore. However, staff understands and I am without doubt, that Jusun would also understand. That being said, I refuse to entertain such a blatent attention seeker. That's my style though. I intentionally did not respond in this topic because I felt that a) I don't have objectivity where he is concerned after his personal remark and b) why give him what he wants? (attention).

thomas just let it go, your suggestion of staff members triggered nothing but fire. not everyone spends their lives on Cb like you do. like everyone said we have other things in our mind than cb, way more important. staff members are to make it better, yes, but cb doesn't need "fixing" or staff members EVERYDAY. i do agree with you however, but you can not remove them for their job if something else is important. maybe to you it seems like there are no staff members to make your vision of cb better, but there is enough for the cb we see is fine. you should less-stalk the mods on cb, cause it seems like your doing that a lot. plus thomas, we have many mods now.. i don't understand why your bringing up the people who can't be on cb, when there are ones here. i'm not against you or anything but some points i agree with you and some i'm far from it.

re-reading the community guidelines is pointless, just like what Jc said, all the members know the rules. we know our limits, somehow some of us like to disobey the rules every now and then, it's like school basically. we all have our flaws, and there isn't anything wrong with that.

I think it's time to implement an automatic system. Either mods are abusing their powers, someone(s) simply don't know their math, or finally... someone(s) just isn't doing there moderating job. WARNING SYSTEM
QUOTE
A member is warned when they violate the Community Guidelines or the Terms of Use for this site. When warning a member, post a reply in the topic of Warned/Suspended Users. Make sure that you check back to that topic to make sure that an users warn level is decreased when two weeks pass.

http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=167152

It's a notch every two weeks, depending on whether or not you have been warned in between warning decreases. I can't speak for anyone else, but I have no personal grudge against you at all. Sure, I don't agree with many things that you post, but that doesn't stop me from lowering warn levels. I honestly don't know of anyone who has a personal grudge against you on staff as well, but I'm not a mind reader. haha

In fact, in looking at your warn log, Dee lowered a warning 5 days early at one point. It's an imperfect system (since it is not automated and automation would have to be added/implemented by the site owner) executed by imperfect people. :) It also looks like she moved a warn level more than the typical 10% notch once.

Nope, as this was/is not always the case. I got on staff with a very few amount of posts, and there were other past staff members who didn't have a shitload of posts nor would I say there were "actively posting" but still became staff members. But to remain on staff, "actively posting" isn't really important if the staff member is still contributing, such as helping out with the queue, answering questions (less or more), etc.

if he's wrong in the way he's speaking his mind, then warnings should be in place. and with all the negativity i see in his direction (meaning examples i've been given of him acting out of place), it should be a pretty high level by now. and yes, i have been insulted personally, though it was nearly a year ago and i don't hold grudges, so there's no point bringing it up.

however you may think, re-reading the guidelines is not pointless.

PERSONAL ATTACKS
Flaming, trolling, member bashing-you name it-will not be tolerated here. If you're making an argument, it's always better to retort with reason and composure. Personal attacks are childish and have no place in these forums.
"not tolerated" means not tolerated. it just feels to me that it's a rule that isn't enforced very well.

edit: hell, re-reading the guidelines i've realized should be warned too, as the banners i have in my signature aren't for a "personal" site. it's commercial. =\

Posted by: Gigi Apr 18 2009, 02:09 AM

^ tbh we've always been very lax on warnings so it's no surprise that Thomas didn't get any warnings for his crass behaviour. I think on a certain level the mods/other members think that it would be unfair to warn Thomas and not other people as well for giving him a taste of his douchebaggery.

And anyway, for the most part people HAVE been retorting with "reason and composure". It's only JC who really bashed Thomas, but only after he said "black douchebag name" (so in this case the bashing back, although not entirely necessary, was provoked and understandable). It's Thomas who has resorted to the personal attacks time and time again when he realizes that no one is on his side. So you're right on one thing, it's that Thomas need some more f*ckin' warnings.

But to keep quoting the Community Guidelines in a situation where many liberties were taken is silly. When the guidelines were written up and agreed upon, there was an understanding that we would judge any incidents on a case-by-case basis, not just blindly following the guidelines.

Posted by: Deetard Apr 18 2009, 07:59 AM

that still doesnt make it right to attack someones son because you dont get your way ***hole. if you cant fight fairly stfu and go cry. that is unfair to resort to insults of that nature. now move along. you took leaves of absences just as they are so dont bitch about something you once did. besides its not even that big of a deal you just have a sour taste still because they kicked your ass off staff and you act as if they cant function without you but theyve made it this far so you dont seem like too much of a huge asset. besides who wants some ocd ridden fool running the forum? no one. this is over.

To address what fixtatik brought up about the Guidelines, the guidelines are actually being enforced. Usually the rest of the community doesn't know when a member is warned unless said member mentions it. Or if it's in a topic and a mod steps in and tells people they are have taken bashing too far and the topic is being closed, then one can assume the people who were bashing were warned. Honestly, though, it isn't anyone's business who was warned for what (only the person who was warned and mods). Unfortunately things don't always turn out that way. They are called guidelines for a reason and obviously there are cases where they are not enforced.

I see no reason why an entire thread needs to be dedicated to a mod criticism. That's what Moderator Performance is for.

I'll catch up on whatever happened and comment later.

edit: yeah, Joseph can get on my nerves sometimes but really, EVERYONE, community and staff members alike should just chill out some on the guy. That being said, who doesn't say shut the f*ck up sometimes? I've said it. What I don't care for is the last sentence, but we all blow up sometimes. If it continues to happen, we'll go from there.

Posted by: DoubleJ Jun 24 2009, 04:40 PM

I will decrease the warning when the time allows for it, but you do know the rules. It states that a member cannot use another members photo without their permission and I believe that you did do that. Now do people break rules around here all the time? Of course they do. It just so happens that what you did touched off a firestorm of backlash, and as a result you have had your warning level increased. I know it may seem like a bitchassness thing to do on your part, but rules are rules.

Posted by: superstitious Jun 24 2009, 05:36 PM

Steven, you could have been double warned, for your behavior in MP regarding dressyoureyeldids. You were given one warning, for the posting a member's picture without their permission.

Also, merged with mod performance, since essentially you are complaining about a moderator's decision.

edit (since I wanted to hurry up and post since you didn't wonder where your thread went):

You're a cool guy, Steven but sometimes, you just cross the line o' bashing. You shouldn't get uptight when you get warned.

Cool story bro. You are in the wrong because I wasn't bashing anyone in the OP. If you wanted to get mad at people for flaming trolling member bashing you name it, you should have given out individual warnings. If you had been able read then you would have seen in the topic that it in no place bashed a createblog member. It was completely anonymous and aliased. Sound good fatsweetcheaks??

Also note that this is not against the TOS, as gorillas are not people (not counting the awesome band) and this can not be considered a personal attack. Thank you, back to culinary school, the taco bells around here have horrible burrito makers. I'd rather have a friendly and thin nurse to fill out my paperwork.

Oh and a legitimate complaint :] Diana (Hypnotique) acts immature and childish and posts inappropriate things from time to time. Her overly sexual behavior does not reflect well upon the moderating team and she has been noted to make pointless posts such as "Ugh." in a thread that clearly was created without malice and had potential for intellectual, albeit controversial, conversation.

Anyway, twig when i said id ignore it is because no matter what you say to defend yourself, you still will not win the argument as the topic itself turned into personal attacks and so on and so forth.

Even if you meant "good" and "innocent" you can blame the other posters in the thread for having your little topic closed and besides, you had your little fun for a while before i stepped in so I dont see why you should take so much offense laugh.gif

again you can take this to PM and this time the "gorilla" might read it and possibly respond _smile.gif

Listen, Joseph, I told you when you did this back in June -- create a new topic when the month starts. If it was like 5 minutes before August, it wouldn't be a big deal, but you're over a day off. Besides that, moderators should be starting the new topic. I let it slide before, but I'm closing this just so you don't make a habit of it.

Since when is this a rule? It's just that moderators are usually the ones that make it cause they're the ones that close the previous one.

Posted by: superstitious Jul 31 2009, 09:28 AM

I'm trying so hard not to say what I want to say to you right now, Thomas, because I'm all for turning over new leaves. You just make it so damn difficult for me not to lose my patience. You're bringing up petty feedbacks, now here and formerly in the mod changes thread. Bah. I'm stopping now.

I'll say this - this is the second, maybe third time that Joseph has jumped the gun on a new monthly topic. I don't think that a mod starting the topic is that big of a deal, but the month hadn't even turned over yet. That's mostly what Michael is addressing.

It's not a "rule", just an unwritten, long-standing policy. I remember way back in July or August of 2005, when James-Kryo was still a mod, I started a new screenshots topic like one minute past midnight on the first of a month, and James chastised me for starting a new topic because it was one of the mod's duties. It's just an old tradition -- mostly for the reason you stated, in fact. A new "cyclical" topic (screenshots thread, Members' Photos, etc.) shouldn't be started until an old one is closed, and only mods can close topics, and if a mod closes an old topic he might as well start the new one...

Also, it's a policy that doesn't matter. You gotta pick your battles, man. You should read Paul Graham's essay "http://www.paulgraham.com/say.html" and really take it to heart. I mean, I'm not gonna go around warning people for starting new desktop screenshots threads, but it's just a long-standing courtesy to let a mod clean all that up.

I'm not saying that Michael's way out of line for closing the topic, I just didn't understand that "policy" of the only people that are allowed to create sequential topics are moderators. To me, it sounded like he was pretty much censoring Joseph, telling him that he's not allowed to post the new topic. And on a bigger scale, that members were losing posting privileges. I know for certain that I posted one or two new desktop threads, as well as Brandon, when neither of us had the privileges to close the previous one. It was only a question on how and why Michael said what he said.

It's not August so an August thread doesn't need to be made, yet. Even if it was a topic that hasn't been made before, people would point out it is still July. It's not that big of a deal, there are no rules about it. Blame the calender, not the mods.

I agree that Joseph should be warned for that and will take care of it after I finish this post. I'll also go ahead and warn you for posting a member's picture without permission. After all, we should do our best to be fair, right?

It's ok... I've already Screen shotted a few of your post and have sent it in for investigation. As well as hypnotique... I mean it's only best for parents to know that an adult on the internet isn't feeding their children with pornographic material.

I hope you took that name serious when I mentioned it... if not... heh, you're in for a big surprise.

(and you call yourself a moderator of an online forum board that's mixed with all ages, you should be ashamed of yourself)

Oh thank goodness! This porn posting really needs to stop!

edit - Pushing anti American sentiments on such impressionable youth isn't a very good idea, sir.

And Freedom of Speech isn't against the law. But what you've done along with a few others, is definitely against the law across the U.S. and Canada. wink.gif

I'm not saying that jcp's argument is justified, but I'd just like to point out that you attacked him first, illriginal:

You suck, jcp... you suck.

Note the timestamps: yours is a half hour before jcp's.

I'd also like to point out that you're...what? 23? 25? Something like that? jcp is...14? Sounds like someone needs to be the bigger man (or perhaps the adult) here.

You also haven't refuted my point that you essentially started it. jcp may have escalated it, but you started it.

Not necessarily as you refuse to look further back. The fact of the matter is... racism shouldn't be tolerated especially when it comes to falsifying a religion with "suicide bombing on another race"

Lets be honest, if it was I who made a racist remark as far as that little shit went, I would be banned for at least 2 weeks if not perma-banned.

How are jcp's comments any different from you comments about people of other religions, or people who you find to be "promiscuous", or things of that nature? Haven't you threatened to, e.g., slit people's throats with a scimitar because they disagreed with your religious beliefs? Hell, within the past couple of days you told karmakiller to go overdose on birth control. How are those comments any different from those of jcp?

At any rate, the thread was shut down as soon as I saw it, and jcp has been warned. Happy now?

Not really... Since racism should be an auto-ban. But I'll let you know when I'm satisfied, hopefully.

So what about sexuality? You've made a lot of offensive comments about homosexuality -- should that be an auto-ban, too?

Sexuality should be kept in privacy to begin with... whether hetero or homo... skin color and ethnicity cannot really be kept a secret.

So you banning the little shit? If not, then I guess I've discovered a new boundary.

I know this has nothing to do with mod performance, but I really don't understand why someone who hates it here stays. If you don't like the people here, the rules here, the topics here, then why are you still here? You start shit with someone who is 10 years younger than you and then you whine like a little baby when he actually says something back to you. Yes, he was childish, but so were you. I know Joseph can be annoying sometimes, but he usually doesn't personally attack people unless he's provoked... and making a topic directed at hating on him counts as him being provoked. The way a mod looks doesn't have anything to do with how they mod, btw.

Like I said, if you don't like the forum or it's people, then why are you here?

Says you. But that's one person's opinion.

You can't have it both ways. If you want people to be tolerate of you and your religious beliefs, "race", etc., then you have to be tolerant of other people. I can't justify banning a member for racism if we don't also ban you because of your hate speech.

Anyway, aren't you a proponent of free speech? The right to free speech includes the right to say things that illriginal may find offensive.

I believe the entire mod staff ahs been doing a phenomenal job dealing with createBlog. There has been a lot to take care of on this wonderful site and everything has been kept great looking. I can't speak for the design side of things beacuse frankly I'm ignorant to that part but I haven't seen anything bad and we have some wonderful design staffers!

Some mods that in particular strike mas doing a wonderful job are:

Manny The Dino - You've been particularly mature with dealing with me and my shenanigans in the past. You've also been wonderfully unbiased in dealing with issues around the boards.

Cristy - You've got to be the cutest of the mods. You are active in more than just the lounge or pictures. You're always ALWAYS in music and the k-pop thread. If you weren't with James I would want you to be mine. As G-Dragon said, you're a heart heart heart heart hearttt breakerrrr, only because we didn't start talking before James walked into the picture. No hard feelings though, James is my homie for life.

Hi - C - Intelligent. Straight up, intelligent. Fashionable too. She's one of the few to actually follow my tumblr when I posted it before I forgot about it :( I'm sorry! I'll try to be more active! Yours is wonderful, too!

Mike - Fashion king. He's always posting about shit he's bought, keeping an artistic side to the forums going around. He also doesn't follow the guidelines strictly and be boring. He has a sense of humor, and a cute mustache.

TJ - TJ TJ TJ. I've been an ass to you, but you're wonderfully mature for your age. There was some "e-drama" the other week and you handled it well. Better than I could have, especially when I was younger.

Posted by: brooklyneast05 Sep 7 2011, 06:48 PM

we complained about needing a capatcha a billion times. it's something that jusun would have had to implement since i don't think anyone else had those powers. aka nothing ever happened cause nothing ever happened that involved him and he was too much of a bitch to just suck it up and hand over the site powers to mipadi, which would have been amazing, and we would all still be having fun here because michael would have actually done something. it's not like he's some nutcase 16 year old either who would have f*cked shit up, but nooooooooooooooooooo. jusun wouldn't know who was actually sane here because he didn't come here enough to know who was sane here or have any context for what we were talking about.

IDC ABOUT RUN ON SENTENCES

Posted by: boot Sep 7 2011, 11:06 PM

last time I remember the site being updated was removing features, disabling the themes that someone created (it was so long ago that I don't even remember who made them). before that I'm pretty sure was adding that stupid blue bar up top or possibly breaking something

moral of the story is that if jusun isn't going to handle it (at this point I can only assume he either doesn't care or died or something) I don't understand why he never gave it to someone who would

Posted by: brooklyneast05 Sep 8 2011, 06:41 AM

trish made those themes. they were nice. yeah, if he would have handed over the power to someone, this site would have been fine without him. other members are knowledgeable enough to do shit, and cared enough to donate some time to it.

i'll never understand why he wouldn't do that. just cause that psycho girl got pissed and tried to delete the whole site once back when he apparently gave admins too much power. sure, that was a bad situation, but again, she was like 16 years old.

Posted by: boot Sep 8 2011, 11:06 PM

but of course now admin is barely more than moderator because he toned it down too much

Posted by: Simba Sep 10 2011, 09:34 AM
