I'm aware that there is probably an old thread like this somewhere. But since I need some new material, I thought I'd make one anyways. Hopefully this topic won't just die in the forums.
Make any book recommendations, new and old. If you're really nice you'll include whether it's fiction, nonfiction, mystery, etc. Tell me what to read. |

![]() i just finished this book this morning. The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammett. it's a detective book. i suppose it's considered a classic. i thought it was pretty good. it's only 216 pages and it's a nice read. the book i read before it was a meticulous read so this was a good kind of "break" book if you need one of those. oh yeah, it's old btw. like 1930s old. |

![]() Personal Effects: Dark Art. It's a fiction mystery/horror/paranormal type ish. Best book I have read in a loong ass time. I think it just came out a few months ago. It's about a blind guy accused of killing 12 people, and an art therapist who needs to find out weather he is mentally fit to stand trial. The first day I got it I read through the whole thing. Only about 320 pages though. |

two of my most favorite fiction books ever:
the kite runner and a thousand splendid suns. khaled hosseini has become one of my favorite authors-the way he writes is really amazing. |

I haven't read A Thousand Splendid Suns, but it's hard for me to find any negative reviews when it comes to his books.
Dang, I think saw the "The Maltese Falcon" film when I was little. I think I'm going to try to get a hold of the book. |

^ A friend of mine is in her 3rd year of nursing and is thinking about becoming an OBGYN, so her reading material has included a lot of vaginas and creepy things that can go wrong when a baby is born... mostly gross creepy things. This is why I come to CB for book recommendations haha

I'm not saying that I don't enjoy reading about vaginas... or looking at them. That's why I have so many mirrors. But I don't enjoy reading about vaginas that have babies coming out of them or vaginas that need stitches... or have infections *shivers*
I need to go wash my hands after writing this post. |

Murakami. Anything by Murakami. I personally have finished reading Kafka on the Shore, The Elephant Vanishes, and Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman, so I can personally vouch for them. The last two are collections of short stories and read particularly quickly.
