Cameras are for taking pictures. Software is for doing post processing. Do your post processing on a 17" monitor, not a 2" LCD screen.

...don't cheap out and get what you THINK is a good camera. i made that mistake-although i wasn't too much into photography-last christmas when i asked for this certain Kodak camera that's only good for people-pictures.
i've heard amazingly good reviews on the Nikon D40's-i actually want one. |

If you have Photoshop or something to edit your photos on computer, I wouldn't bother trying to find a camera that can edit in-camera. But hey, you might just happen to find one that can. My Nikon D80 can edit, though I never really use its editing functions. |

i have kodak megapixel 5.0
i hate it >.< get olympus, cannon or sony. any megapixels higher than 7.0 is pretty good. i dont think i need to repeat what people said about editing on the camera. however, my friend has this sony camera. its touch screen and can edit as good as ms paint. |

I use a Sony Cyber-Shot with 7.2 MP. I sometimes use a Canon that has 5 MP. The Cyber-Shot takes pretty good pictures, though.

I really want to get into photography--it looks like fun. Your best bet would be to look at the topic Arjuna posted a link to. I have a Sony Cybershot T-30, but it's not really a photography kind of camera.

If you want something slim get the Canon SD series. If you want something cheaper but bigger with pretty much the same quality, get the Canon A series.

I have a NikonD80, and I think it's amazing, so I'd recommend that 100% the only downside is the price, I bought mine with different filters/lens/and scopes about 6 months ago and it cost me about $2300.00 but I bet if you bought one used without accessories you could easily get the camera for like $1000.00 maybe less

If it's for serious photog use, don't get a cheap one. I like my Canon 10D, and I LOVE my 20D even more.
If you just want one for snapshots and giggles, then it doesn't really matter what kind you get. Holgas are fun. :D |

Ahh I really want that one, but I'm waiting until I feel the need to buy a new camera. I have a Canon SD600 and it takes pretty good pictures anyways. But man it was really expensive last summer ($350 >_<") for a reg. 6MP camera. But it's all good. I actually prefer the lens from Canon powershots over Sony cybershots. |

Expensive cameras do not equate to good, professional pictures. It's about what you do with it. I have seen some incredible pictures come out of film cameras that are only $50. And, yes, as all of the above mentioned, you have to use software to fix any imperfections.
On the whole, I would recommend Canon Powershot Pro. Good quality and very sturdy. But, remember, it's about what you do with it. |
