So I was wondering when the next Shopaholic book will come out and I said to myself I hate waiting for the next book in a series to come out. Which got me thinking. . . do you prefer to read a series (like HP or The Wheel of Time), a Trilogy (Like LOTR), or a Single shot book (Like The Redeption of Althalus)?
Personally, I think I prefer a trilogy best. Long enough to get a lot done, and if done correctly excellent character development and story telling. But some series' I like too, like the Riftwar Saga, Incarnations of Immotality, and HP. But some series turned me off, specifically the Wheel of Time, and The Bellgariad. The Redeption of Althalus was a nice long book, and was/is a single shot deal. Perhaps that one could be a trilogy. . . Anyways, what do you prefer to read? |

Actually, doesn't really matter for me. As long as the book is good, any book that is.

book series are usual better cuz the author has more time to develop that characters and story ... and people don't usually read huge books. i don't think harry potter would be as good as a big book ... it would actaully be pretty shitty ... hahahah! so iguess series are better ... and im just against trilogies because of lord of the rings cuz my english teacher made us read them all ... talk about boring

i usually enjoy single story books;; but then there are some great books that when i finish, i wish for a sequal =P.. lol
last book i read was 'the da vinci code' which rocked, and i found the prequel 'angels and demons' -- so.. in the end i'd have to go with series of books =P |

I prefer series. They usually have a great storyline to them, and are most likely unique. (Most of the time)

I think it really depends on the book. Some books rock as a series, and others just strecth out the same old crap time after time. But there are some stand-alone books that really could go into another book. But I'm a totally a bookworm, so I'll go with a series of books.

One book.
Sometimes, the author gets lazy with the sequels. I hate bad sequels. Kills the character and stuff. Good sequels are awesome though. ( eg LOTR and Harry Potter. ) - Chinkieeyedpnoi |
