...I thought I was gonna freaking die.
I had only been asleep for a few hours when I woke up, but i was practically still asleep. Eventually i noticed that my right ear had an odd buzzing that was starting and stopping and I didn't think anything of it. Then all of a sudden I realized what was actually happening and i jumped out of bed SCREAMING! I wasn't sure what it was but it felt like a BUG in my ear and it was traveling deaper into my ear and it felt like it was burrowing into my brain! And it was so loud because it wiggling and squirming in my ear canal and touching my ear drum! My dog who was asleep was now intrigued and he was watching me tug on my earlobe, and shake my head. Then in the rush, i guess I was over my bed at some point and the pain, and the wriggling, vibrating stopped, and I looked down. And I found...an earwig crawling across my bed. Like any sane person, the first thing I did was google "earwig in my ear" and I found a few blog posts that basically described my exact situation. They say it is just a myth that earwigs crawl into your ear and eat your brain, and even though I doubt the earwig was planning on eating my brain, it is no myth. I now know where they get there name, and I don't think i'll ever be the same. Moral of the story, sleep like a south African, and rest your neck on your propped up arm so nothing can crawl in your ear. And here is that article. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn41...4/ai_n15905354/ CB: My most recent facebook note. |

The earwig is the most disgusting creature I've ever seen in my entire life >.<
![]() IT'S SO GROSS IT'S CREEPING ME OUT SO MUCH!!! QUOTE(wikipedia) Earwigs are generally nocturnal and can be seen patrolling household walls and ceilings. Interaction with earwigs at this time results in a defensive free fall to the ground below, and the subsequent scramble to a nearby cleft or crevice. Earwigs are also drawn to damp conditions. During the summer, they can be found around sinks and in bathrooms. Earwigs tend to gather in shady cracks or openings or anywhere that they can remain concealed in daylight hours. Picnic tables, compost and waste bins, patios, lawn furniture, window frames, or anything with minute spaces (even artichoke blossoms) can potentially harbor these unwanted residents. Upon gaining entry to the basement and living areas of the home, earwigs can easily find cover in undisturbed magazine and newspaper piles, furniture/wickerwork, base boards, carpeted stairways, pet food dishes, and even inside DVD cases and keyboards. Earwigs can be considered in some ways a beneficial part of the garden, especially when they prey on other insects, but they can become a nuisance because of their habit of positioning themselves within leaves and feeding on soft plant tissues. Diatomaceous earth is a possible long term earwig repellent. I DON'T WANT THAT THING ANYWHERE NEAR ME. QUOTE(wiki) Forficula auricularia, the Common earwig or European earwig, is an omnivorous insect in the family Forficulidae. The European earwig is a common household pest in North America. Though they frighten many, they are harmless but tend to take up habitation within the home. They mostly appear frightening because their name literally means that they crawl into one's ear and are rumoured to burrow into the human brain, but this is entirely false.[1] Instead, F. auricularia is a species that nurses their young and has survived in a variety of environments. We have a lot earwigs. I woke up once and one crawling on me, but I was so sleepy that I just picked it up and tossed it across the room... I never would have done that I had been totally awake.

I was also happily unaware that the average human swallows one to three spiders in their sleep a year.

I was also happily unaware that the average human swallows one to three spiders in their sleep a year. Thankfully, myths such as that usually aren't true. http://www.washington.edu/burkemuseum/spid...leyousleep.html QUOTE(countless sources) This myth came from a book that was written in the 1950s and brought to life again in the early 1990s... it was written to test the gullibility of people. Do you really believe everything written on the internet? I will keep searching to find the book. http://www.cracked.com/article_16241_6-mos...statistics.html ^this source is awesome. It does a great job of explaining it. |
