I didn't find another suitable place to post this so im just going to post it here

i have problems with my computer i have a Windows XP with 30.9 GB hard drive and last night i downloaded some software and i think it had a virus cuz i had about 9.22 GB left before the download and later i checked and i had about 2 GB left, then 1GB, then 800MB i did a virus scan and spyware scan and they took long, but deleted some threating files and still had low memory so i did a system restore to before i downloaded the software and still had low memory, then i did a system recovery and went up to 2.22GB.

What can i do?
is there a way i can now wich file(s) takes the most memory?
What Antivirus and Antispyware do you recommend and it has to be free software?

Right now i have Norton free edition or something; i downloaded it from google software or something like that, i also have Spyware Terminator

I have a macbook now, but when I used to own a PC with Windows XP, I would use Grisoft's AVG anti-virus. It's handy because it detects viruses/trojans pretty fast. As for spyware, I would just use Lavasoft's Ad-Aware.

I don't know if a system restore will do much though. And wtf you have a hard drive with 30.9 GB?! nuke.gif

It might not be a virus. How much RAM do you have? You may have just had a large chunk of hard drive space used up as swap space.
