My idea on this:
I think it would be great, but when it really comes down to it. You need man(or woman, it's just an expression)-power that you may or may not have. I was in the school newspaper during my high school years. Even then it was difficult to get all the articles you needed for the paper to look complete. If you can do it, then do it! You need some dedicated members though. |

i agree a theme could help, but with cB's diverse community it'd be hard to find a unifying theme. what i'm going to say now is just what i envisioned it would be like when i thought of this idea. first, we'd have a few weekly "column" type posts, for instance, a movie update, a music update, a politics update, etc. based mainly on providing information. We can also have focus articles on various topics Who's going to do that? Will it be sucessful? It's not easy to find people to write an articles or whatever. QUOTE between these we'd have room for editorial comments on the information, opinion pieces and the like. it sounds great. QUOTE basically, it'd be like Time magazine in blog form, written by cBers. cB news had good content, it was just delivered wrong. with a blog format allowing for individual up-to-date postings, as well as the ability of the community to comment, i think it will work. it was delivered wrong? what? Do you mean like ... Xanga? Sorry, i'm confused. QUOTE so as for a general theme; i think providing a consice place for teenagers to receive information about their world might work. that sounds interesting and nerdish. QUOTE Eventually, if it's possible to be integrated into cB accounts, it'd be very awesome if you were able to select which content you wanted to view; for instance, you could choose to not view "US politics" if you were not interested. unlikely to happen before the blog is sucessful, so don't dwell on this idea. Yeah. QUOTE so, does this seem like something people would read? Probably. QUOTE and as for where this would be physically located? Well, i hope it could eventually be the front page. that is unlikely to happen immediately, but i hope we ccould start out with a "blog" or "news" link next to the "forums" link on the first page, or better yet, seperate with a sentence introducing it so we'd get more clicks. We can ask Micron to deal with this for CB4 I'm thinking of this way: http://www.jusunlee.com/ QUOTE and yes; this would be open to contribution from anyone. We would need editors to help choose what is quality enough to get in, and because this is a position of power, i think all editors should have a weekly column as well, to ensure we have enough columnists. Hopefully it will get to the point that the columnists will be able to post without need for pre-editing, although that would certainly be needed at first. Enough columnist? when will they be kicked out? Because, there are people who might be interested. |

well... cB news came out only every so often and people couldn't comment on specific articles.
anyways; i don't foresee any limits on the number of columnists; i foresee a shortage. We can certainly change if that's not the case. The only limits I think people might encounter would be quality controls, but basically if any article is any good it would be published. micron's website looks good, although all that information would be compressed into a longer weekly article (in my vision). The only thing is, i don't see a way for people to leave comments, which will be critical to developing interest in this project. |

well... cB news came out only every so often and people couldn't comment on specific articles. If Wordpress is used, there shouldn't be any problems allowing people to comment. One problem is I forsee with that is people impersonating one another when leaving comments. As well, Wordpress is perfect for archiving articles.

well, the impersonation might become a problem, but i don't want that to be a barrier to getting this started up, so i'd think wordpress would work for now.
Things we need to get started: 1- our own forum where articles can be submitted, etc. The old Newsstaff one could work if anyone remembers it. 2- Writers. We need to establish a core of columnists- entertainment, technology, current events, etc. 3- website- we need to have the actual blog where we can post things, put a link on the front page, and then get started. |

Anna and I are cleaning that forum out as we speak, so it should be clean and useable pretty soon.

alright, I'd suggest anyone who's remotely interested in this or has any opinions to go ahead and register.
That way we can do our best to see what needs to be done and get about doing it. |

alright, so there just hasn't been enough interest to really get this off the ground.
i guess we have to shelve this idea for now. I doubt cB will survive long enough for us to implement it, but i don't really see much else to do. |

Perhaps try making a thread in The Lounge and elaborating on the idea? Some members, like myself, aren't really sure on what cB News is/was, perhaps there'd be more support if it was put in a place with a lot more traffic and explained in one post.
