Look, I'm a high school freshman. My parents want me to study hard, not get jobs and to work hard. Why would anyone hire me anyway? Who would hire a 9th grader with no working experience?

You probably dont meet the age requirements anyways, even if your parents would let you have one. At my parents bank, you have to be at least 16, with a job (so that your putting money into the account on a weekly basis). So why whine about wanting one when there's nothing your parents can even do about it?

well you don't have to necessarily have to have a debit card, I just opened a savings account under my name but under the watch of your parents/guardians where you can save up money and withfraw anytime. The only difference would be that it's not like a debit card where you can purchase things in stores and online, it is more like an ATM card. where you can get cash from any ATM machines.

thats a good idea i had that too. but i needed a debit card cause i hated getting charged 2 dollars everytime i took out money not from my bank.

i feel for you cause i really wanted one but i am in college and i think i needed it more. i just had a atm card and the only thing it had was a savings account. but when i turned 18 i was so happy to get my debit card.

i think you need one lol, i wouldnt want to carry all that money. but as for debit card i dunno, i dont think its necessary but an atm card would do just fine. all you need is a savings account with an atm card. any bank should have a plan like that. but just say

Actually, if you're 18, you don't even need parental consent to open up a bank account. I opened one at a bank my parents didn't have an account at.

^ In other words, some comes from your mother. Your mom is just looking out for your best interest. You're a Freshmen you don't need any kind of cards . Just get a savings account, then your money will collect interest... not a lot but at least some. If your bank charges for withdrawls, then just keep out enough money for spending and put the rest in the bank.
