Yes, I would make a topic about this. Selena counts, OF COURSE! <3 Selena.

I listen to Selena's spanish songs! There is nothing wrong with that. I think she is really talented.

Baila Esta Cumbia
La Carcacha
Como La Flor
Amor Prohibido
Bidi Bidi Bom Bom
El Chico del Apratamento 512

I love Juanes. But I don't really like his newest album. I think his first and second albums are better. I'd recommend you download..err, buy them. Oh, and Shakira! Check out ¿Donde Estan Los Ladrones? and any of her earlier work. It's not like her English stuff, so you should be..surprised?
Oh! And there is a group I listen to called Gotan Project. If you like obscure, almost-poetic music--that's nearly "electric tango," you should look them up. Maybe you'd like Caifanes. They remind me of a Mexican version of the Cure. Oh! And Maná? They're like, classic rock. Mayhaps you'd like some of their stuff. I haven't really paid much attention to their albums since I grew up listening to them. Lawl. OH OH. DOWNLOAD "Zapatos Viejos" by Gloria Treví! I USED TO SING IT 24/7...when I was three. Hah. And I've heard good things about La Oreja de Van Gogh but never really looked them up. Hmm. Okay, I'll shut up now :x.

Yes, Juanes is awesome, that's a given. But I don't know, Maná reminds me too much of Nickleback, especially due to their new song, "Labios Compartidos." pinch.gif Meh, maybe I should listen to more of their stuff before judging them.

edit: I downloaded "Zapátos Viejos"! Omg, I seriously think I've heard that song before.
edit2: OMG, Gotan Project = amazing. throb.gif

Julieta Venegas! :D (Any love for her?)

Some people have expressed their blatant disgust for reggaeton, but it's just so damn catchy, I can't stop listening! If you like mainstream hip-hop/rap in English, you'll like reggaeton. In terms of songs, I'm really enjoying "Ay Chico" by Pitbull. It's not deep or interesting like Gotan Project, but it's so danceable!

Then you, my dear, are listening to the wrong kind of music. Ranchero is the Mexican equivalent of country; a select few like it, but about 98% of the population prefer the demise of such crap that doesn't even deserve to be called music.

i think Calle 13 is awesome, they need some more music though. I absolutely love Mana, i think they're great. I learned my spanish (besides from my parents) but alos because of Selena, i memorized her songs. I think Juanes is good too, i like the earlier album; he somewhat remidns me of Ricardo Arjona (if you know who he is). And i like Shakira, but not so much when she sings in English. I like regeatton, kind of sick of Don Omar but he;s good. I love the kind of spanish songs where you know you just have to get up and shake your butt. for sure.

Currently listening to: Mas Maiz by N.O.R.E.

i must say i CANNOT stand that type of music. i think its extremely annoying. i like regeaton cuz of the beat ( the lyrics are not the best messages) but at least it's a type of music that you just wanna get up and dance to. not the "mexican ranchera music"
