Oh, I knew that. ![]() When I said that I was thinking more along the lines of people like Susan. She used to get bashed on a lot, though she was a sweet person--because of her spelling/grammar and other typing issues. Aww I like Susan. ![]() Don't worry about it. And you better get used to it, because unfortunately, there always will be atleast one person in the world that doesn't spell it the right way. Yeah, but she was just pointing it out. Also, there are those that can learn from this. |

I screw up the "your" and "you're" thing, every now and then. When I am in a hurry.
and I think I mixed up "then" and "than" like.. once. ![]() |

But you have to understand the fact that sometimes it just turns into a bad habit. You know? Kind of like some people spell weird as "wierd". Some don't know it's wrong, and others do but can't really break it because they have been doing it for so long. Some people know that saying "your" is wrong in the sentence, but it comes out automatically because they have been using poor grammer for their entire lives and when someone finally bothered to correct them at school or something, it's harder for them to change. What probably will bother them is if they keep making that mistake, and then their peers online make them feel stupid about it. That will cause then to say, "Get over it!" or "Stop being so anal!" And then some people just honestly slip up every once in a while because they aren't really paying attention. Don't worry about it. And you better get used to it, because unfortunately, there always will be atleast one person in the world that doesn't spell it the right way. well, why not try to break that habit? That explains it, but doesnt excuse it. Maybe, if people correct them enough, they will FIX IT, rather than complain about being correct. or, at least, that would be the intelligent response. well, if we correct them all, that wont be true, now will it? unless you have a theory that the universe will implode if everyone gets their grammar right? |

Also, it's not asking much. I don't see how hard it is to type; you're cool rather than your cool.

Well, it really is just a matter of making an honest mistake and just not looking over what you wrote. What really bugs me is when people purposely type "teh" for "the". OH MY GOODNESS. I've only seen it a few times, but still.

Well you can't assume that everyone here is a native english speaker! I'm not, but most people think I am. Well, I actually learned two languages at the same time but mastered the other one before English..(I grew up in a tri-cultural, bi-racial home). Some people make more mistakes than others, and not everyone catches their mistakes all the time. ![]() Besides if I say "Do you're homework. It's better then doing theres!" you can't tell me you don't understand what I said. I mean if you can still understand it and they're not typing in sticky caps over 1337 and using "`"'s instead of " ' "' s then just try to deal with it. ![]() Um. I'm not native either ![]() |

OMFG, I hate it when people do that. Seriously. I could understand if they only made that mistake once because they were in a hurry or something, but seriously, seeing it OVER & OVER AGAIN gives me a headache & makes me feel like whacking the person in the head.
Also, I hate how some people can be ignorant & instead of trying to learn from their mistake, they respond with "get over it". ![]() |

Another common confusion is "It's" and "Its". It seems appropriate that "It's" should be posessive since there's an apostrophe. After a while, you get used to it but when I was first trying to memorize it, it hurt my brain. :[

It really annoys me too. -_-' The sad thing is that people honestly don't know the difference. It's not like they're just doing it because they're just chatting it up with their friends and not paying attention.

Ahaha, this reminds me of this icon I saw once.
"Your stupid." "My stupid what?" And the internet does waste people's minds if they type like that. These girls in my math class used STICKY CAPS on the cover of their math report. It wasn't an overly serious report, more like a one-page thing of facts, but COME ON. STICKY CAPS? |

You're all right. It's annoying when people from English speaking countries don't know when to use punctuation and don't know the difference between "you're" and "your."

Thank you. Someone besides me making a grammar rant!! For some reason, Sandra, I thought you got annoyed when people got annoyed by this stuff, but it's much more preferable to know you're irked.
And Angelina Taylor, just out of curiosity, what was your first language? |

Sandra, for you:
![]() In any case, Americans are extremely lazy, in case you couldn't tell. "It saves time"? Please, spare me. Typing out a few extra letters isn't going to save much more than nanoseconds. And it's because said Americans (in general) refuse to be cognizant of pretty much everything (including grammar/spelling rules) that other countries hate us. And we wonder why. ![]() And I learned to speak Mandarin before English. :D |
