Sometimes when I listen to music & read it helps me focus more but it does depend on what the song is. If it is soothing music and not loud screaming it wouldn't be a distraction. On the other hand, loud music I would feel distracted.

That's me though. I think it mostly depends on who you are and what you would wanna do. happy.gif

No, it actually distracts me because I can't concentrate. Especially if i'm reading.

And btw, this belongs in either school or the lounge.

Depends on othe person.

Music distracts me because then i start focusing on the music instead of my work. I have to have the tv on when doing work, i dont know why though.

I can listen to soft, calming music while reading or doing homework because it relaxes me. But I can't listen to loud, obnoxious music because then, I can't focus.

I did a science project on this in middle school.
That music helps you with your math homework and stuff.
Classical and Christian actually came out on the top.
It was interesting.

I have to listen to music when I do some things, otherwise i can't concentrate. However, when I read I like it to be quiet.

I listen to music every minute of the day it does in a way effect me but doesnt at the same time. Like when im doing homework or something it doesnt bother or distract me, but in general music is a big part of my life, i wouldnt kno what to do without it.
[edit]
oh and reading defiantly effects me. I dont read garbage I read inspirational stories and true stories. It gives me a more optomistic point of view, and sometimes it depends on the book, it gives me more knowledge on a certain culture or belief. I love to read.

Yes, it does. It improves them. I can't concentrate on anything at home if I don't have some background noise. I constantly have music playing, it's just a part of me.

I'm able to block out the other sounds (like creaking desks) if I'm taking a test and listening to my iPod. I generally block the music after awhile since it's a consistent noise.

Depends what kind of music and what I'm reading. If I'm just doing basic research for a conference, some music in the background is alright. But if I'm studying Physics or Calc, music totally throws me off.

However, I absolutely cannot write a legitimate essay with any music in the background.

I am a very musical person.
So when I'm doing homework, it's usually a must that I have at least some mellow music on with no words, that way I'm not too distracted.
