My cousin did it to one of his ears. I guess it's ok, but I doubt I'd ever do it.

is gauging your ear when you gradually stretch it out?

QUOTE(madchenallein @ Jun 7 2005, 9:35 AM)
I think ear gauging is kind of gross, personally.  It can look cool on a young person, especially with a neat colorful titanium ring, but with body alteration I can't look at it without seeing the whole picture and considering the alteration in light of aging or a change in personal circumstances, eg. a really great job that doesn't mesh with a piercing or tat, or getting really fat and stretching something out, or surgery and having part of it removed...  I have my tongue pierced and it's a small gauge, a 14.  I like that if I decide I don't want it anymore (I've had it for 2 years) I can take it out and it will heal up almost as if I never did anything to it.  When you stretch skin though, it doesn't shrink back.  I can't imagine being 50 or 60 years old with saggy earlobes that a person can see through.  Saggy bubbies are going to be bad enough, lol!

But, to each her own, if we were all the same, it would be an awfully boring world.

well....congratulations on saying everything that crossed my mind. I just got a job at blockbuster, and they made me take out my tongue ring. I've had it for almost three years, so its no biggie. But yeah, it can be a real set back to getting a serious job. Not that blockbuster is a serious job, but if I can have peircings there, think about if I worked for a law firm or something...

it all depends on who it is..

whoever said big gauges look painful... how can you say that.. i mean when you gauge it, it hurts a bit but once its healed you cant even tell..

my ears are at 7/8in right now.. one gauge away from an inch.. i cant even tell theyre in, unless i go to pull my hair behind my ears and it snags.. but other than that its no problem.

different sizes look better on different people for 2 reasons.. 1, a size may fit a person perfectly and they may like that size. 2, their lobe size.. if your lobes arent that big.. going REAL big is stupid.. you may blow them out or have hardly any skin left. and if their lobes are smaller, smaller gauges look fine.. i had considerbly larger lobes (never really noticed it) and when i was at 5/8s i still had a considerable a mount of skin left.

eh its all personal judgement really.

err... eww? I think they look really ugly. ermm.gif and they stretch your ear lobes, so if you take them out there's like a saggy hole pinch.gif

Travis from GCH looks so f**king sexy as hell with his gauges. I was thinking of getting gauges, but in the long run I don't want my earlobes stretched =\ But i think its cool on most people.
