The videos I took in africa are all mts format! I have never seen or heard that format and I cant edit them in windows movie maker. Does anyone know of a free video editor that has a broad range of extensions it can work with?

Why do people not realize that changing the name doesnt change the extension.

The file with then be called, lions.avi.mts. It wouldnt be an actual avi file.

That doesn't work with most extensions. Images, sure, but not videos.

LOL, you don't know how to properly change the name of a file.
  1. Open Windows Explorer
  2. Goto Tools>Folder Options
  3. Click the View Tab
  4. Uncheck "Hide extentions for known file types"
