I think it looks ok, It'd be more interesting if there was more color on the page in my opinion. But overall maybe you can try moving the content down a few px , at least for me it's on top of the color bars. The colors you chose look good though, some of the header brushes are out there but not bad. :)

about the strips, it has some grassy-looking flares, to be honest, it's looks undesireable. you did not need to go overboard right across the screen.

make your banner BLEND with the repeated backgroud. it looks soo busy on one side and boring on one side. therefore, it lacks equality/balance to neutralize the "feel".

i know my screen resolution is high and wide.
