Idk, dreads are ok. But the problem with them is that a lot of the times, I see people that have dreads that are disgusting due to the fact that they did not take care of them properly... pinch.gif

Only on a SELECT few do dreads look good on people. My personal favourite, Captain Jack Sparrow.

I don't have that kind of money. sad.gif
to be honest, i've never had my hair cut at a salon because i never have any money and my parents are too cheap to pay for me to get my hair cut.

Where do you get your hair cut, if not at a salon? Anyways, one of my friend's dorm mate cut my hair and it was pretty good for a guy who has only cut his own hair and his girlfriend's hair. Fortunately I have straight hair (with a slight wave at the end). Honestly I think you should save up money to go to a decent salon so that you can ask them what kind of hairstyles would work with your face and how to fix your hair up. shrug.gif

As for hair straightening -- prices depend on the chemicals they use on you, plus it takes time to do. My boyfriend's sister offered to do the straightening on my hair if I pay for the chemical, which costs about $100 (at least that's what she told me). Plus she says that depending on the hair, it could last at least a year. It lasted at least a year on my sister in law.

For dreads... doesn't that mean you wouldn't be able to wash your hair? sick.gif

^last time, my cousin's friend whos in beauty school cut it for me.

I'm not really sure about straightening my hair cause i kinda like it curly and its starting to look nicer since i learned some stuff from the links that berrypop(i think) posted. :D

and yea. i kinda decided not to get dreads after my mom told me she'd chop my hair off if i did.
and i know she will. >_<

everyone in DC has dreads..so i'm really used to them. i think it looks right on the person, it's cool, if not...just don't do it because it's a tedious process.

If you actually took some time to understand what the f**k I was saying, then you would know that growing dreads means a lot to west indian people. It was really originated there, and it is something that they take pride in. They would be able to give the best insight on the process, meaning, how to maintain them etc.
