So I have to make a video for my debate class on malnutrition, and I used downloadhelper to download some documentary clips from various websites, the only problem is, they are all in .mp4 format and windows movie maker dosent realize that format so I have to convert everything to .avi format, I have already tried media-convert.com but the server seems to crash everytime I try, so what are some other options available?

The simpler fix would be to download a better multimedia player, namely VLC.
As for conversion programs, just go to download.com and search "mp4 to avi". Tons of free, safe programs will pop up.

Yes, download.com will work for the OP, but there are some on there that will ask you to buy or get a trial version of it that will only convert 5 minutes of the video.
your best chance of getting a converter that does NOT have those 'catches' is 50/50.
You can try changing the extension of the video and see if that will work.
