is it me or is has the search feature hasn't been used before starting a topic..

posting a topic with another same thread makes the forums more messy.

i think we should have warnings for this.

i can understand if it's your first mistake, but you'd probably be using the search now before posting a new topic (or at least i do). if consistency continues, warn them prz.
Harp
this.
creole
I know, but some members don't search before posting.
Gigi
It's not really that big of a deal, just ask a mod to either close or merge the topic. If we start being anal about it, people will either stop posting threads or start complaining about mods abusing their power and then go on a spamfest. _dry.gif

^Agreed

Can you please point out some of these threads or actually use the report feature once in a while.
Simba
hate the report feature, lol
Simba
well, I guess it's great for spamming mods' inboxes

To this day, I've only received a few.

But yeah, I appreciate the concern for the lack of searching, but the best thing to do is point out the thread(s). Making a feedback topic regarding members' inability to search for something isn't going to be terribly fruitful.

loveee the report feature

I have love/hate relationship with report.

Some i really take and look into and others is just either noob error or just someone being a jerk

I dont like the search. You can only enter one word and it has to be longer then 4 letters and it searches the content not titles. Finding threads is a real on this site. If something is in new posts and its not the next day i dont know where to go to find it.
mipadi
We should form a committee to discuss what can be done about members' failures to use the search feature!
Simba
I guess cB members are just incredibly unoriginal

The advanced search feature is much more powerful and flexible.

You can enter more than one word. If the title is short, then use a word from a post from that thread that is has four letters, and you're all set. ;D
Gigi
Yeah you're completely not utilizing the search function to its fullest.

Forums --> Advanced Search

From there you can search with multiple words, search in the topic title or the entire post, or in a specific subforum...etc. But it still has to be over 3 letters.

OMG! I have never even noticed the drop down box under forums! haha

The end.
karmakiller
LOL, yes, there is an advanced search. If you're that bothered by people making a topic that has already recently been made, then just post in that topic that there's already one on cb and a mod will merge them.

I've only noticed a couple of topics that have been made on course of a new member making an accidental duplicate topic. Don't sweat it. Always nice to have a clean topic for new discussion. ^_^

LOL i always forget about VNP.

I just go through the forums and randomly spit out words.
karmakiller
I love View New Posts. Otherwise I'd probably miss some threads in the forums less traveled.
heyo-captain-jack
I use My Assistant. VNP is for losers.

abzz
also bump?
heyo-captain-jack
Yeah, you bumped an old topic.
abzz
why can't you do that?
-no one told me this.

heyo-captain-jack
If you've got something to add, or it's become relevant again, then there is no problem.
manny-the-dino
Yeah abzz, please stop. Like CJ (Buttsex) said, if you have something significant to add or it's become relevant again, then go ahead and post. If not, please don't bump the topic.
