I was watching the Commercial for this stupid thing today and I almost fell off my chair laughing.

Here is what AOL is trying to Market...
A $300 system running Windows XP Home on a 2GHz Intel Celeron. A 17-inch monitor and a Lexmark inkjet printer are included, as is an AOL-branded edition of Sun's StarOffice suite.

!!! Buyers [B]must[B] also sign up for a 12-month AOL membership at $23.90 a month !!!

The computer also comes with "AOL DESKTOP" which is basically a giant memory munching program that lets you use AOL without turning on AOL. (WHY?!)

The whole thing seems a bit stupid especially the "AOL DESKTOP" which it does not look like you can disable so the user of the PC is locked into paying for and having this weird program running on their desktop at all times.

Opinions on this odd little idea by AOL?

It's made for grandmas and grandpas that don't know how to use a computer. This computer isn't made for the power user.

And no remotely technologically intelligent person would use AOL in the first place.

Unless, of course, their parents pay for the ISP, so yeah.
