many beauty products have a best before date, but even if its not printed on the pakeage, all products have a limited lifespan. using outdated makeup can result in clumpy application, irritation & even infection.
so here a chart to help you how long your makeup can last
.
Foundation
Liquid Water-Based - one year
Oil Based - 18 month
Cream - up to one year
Powder - up to two years
Concealer
Liquid Water-Based - one year
Oil-Based - 18 months
Cream - up to one year
EyeShadow
Cream - up to one year
Powder - two years
EyeLiner
Liquid - six months
Cream - up to one year
Pencil - two years
Mascara
Cream - up to one year
Tube - three months
Blush
Liquid - one year
Cream - up to one year
Powder - up to two years
LipLiner
Pencil - two years
LipStick
LipStick - up to two years
LipGloss
LipGloss - six months
Nail Polish
Nail Polish - up to two years
Other Signs Of Out Of Date Makeup
- liquid contents have seperated
- it should be moist, but has dried up
- the surface is spotted & discolored or particles are floating inside the container
- pencil tips are coated white of grey
- lids are coated with hardened product
- it's goopy, clumpy or the consistency has changed
- it smells bad
- the application is inconsistent
the color has changed
Extend A Product's Shelf Life
Do
- apply it with a cotton swab, sponge or clean brush to reduce baterial contaminstion
- close lids firmly to keep air & germs out
- store in a dark, dry & cool place
Dont
- apply with your fingers
- keep it open unless you are using it
- store in the bathroom. heat & humidity 'cause premature aging

wow. thanks. my mom has been saying stuff like that to me before, but i never really knew the specific dates. it's nice to have it all in one place...i think i might print it later lol...thanks!

This kinda thing is pretty helpful. My basic rule of thumb is "If i've had it for more than a year or two....toss it"

A really helpful guide.
However, I don't use make-ups, but quite helpful for those who use make-ups.

I didn't know that makeup had an expire date on it.
Man that is some stuff....cause I think I got makeup that is more than 1 year old and I still use it cause it hasn't done nothing mention here.
but thanks for the guide, cause it is a good heads up on stuff.
