I got a wasp sting at the Dragon Boat Festival yesterday, and it was fine until a couple hours later and it started swelling. Right now my ankle's about the size of a baseball, and I can't stand on it. Any advice?

do your parents know? and if i was you, i'd get to a doctor right away.

yea my parents know. There was an ambulance at the Festival, but it wasn't swelling then, and they said it should be fine.

I think you're allergic, because when I got a wasp sting, it just hurt like hell, although i didn't get any swells or anything...

put some ice on it and maybe still go see your family doctor.

This is from my BC HEALTH GUIDE that i found lying around.

QUOTE(HOME TREATMENT )
- Apply a cold pack or ice cube to the bite or sting. Some people also find that applying a paste of baking soda, meat tenderizer or activated charcoal mixed with a little water helps relieve pain and decreases the reaction.
- Take an oral antihistamine ( such as Benadryl or Clor-Tripolon) to relieve pain, swelling, and itching. Calamine lotion or hydrocortisone cream may also help.

Its supposed to be for spider, insect bites and stings. So im not sure.. but best check with doctor.

Put some ice on the pain when you're on your way to your doctor because ice slows down the pain reactions and it cools the pain.

Yay! I'm mostly better now, my foots still a bit purple though. I'm not allergic, but it was a localized reaction. I took the antihistamines..it helped with the itching, and the ice really helps with the pain.
