Ryan and Volchok make a deal after a fallout at prom. Sandy is chosen as Man of the Year, but this sparks the DA to dig deeper into his involvement with the hospital problems. Marissa goes and sees Kaitlin at her boarding school and Seth visits the Newport Group HQ and lights up the joint.

In an impressive feat of editing, Ryan takes Volchok to the hospital with some cool colors and music the background. The surf nazi is far from dead, however, as he asks Ryan to meet him at his apartment the next day. Once there, Kid Chino is told that he'll be accused of assault unless he helps Kevin with something illegal.

Then there's the Sandy/Kirsten absurdity. She hears from Julie that her husband will be investigated by the D.A. and then turns to the bottle in response. Seth finds his mother passes out from vodka and then overhears her blame Sandy during her A.A. meeting. Son is now pissed at father. Not as pissed? Caitlin, who calls Marissa for some convoluted help at her school and the sisters bond. Yeah. That's all we have on that one.

Back in Newport, Ryan drives Volchok to a neighbor's house in order to steal a car. The cops are bearing down at this takes place, though, and chase the V-Man down the street as Ryan flees. He somehow thinks they may still be after him and therefore tells Marissa to help him with an alibi. In a story line that might make a tad more sense, Seth is very, very angry at Sandy. So he smokes pot again in the Newport Group office before picking up a painting for his father (who is being honored at a party as Newport Man of the Year). When the formerly funny, often annoying character goes to leave, however, his doobie falls into the garbage can. A fire ensues because the sprinkler system must have broken in a previous episode.

We end this nauseatingly boring hour with Sandy's speech at the gathering - he actually turns down the honor because he wants to be more of a family man. Just when it seems as though the Cohens are gonna be okay, the police come and arrest Seth for arson. In the process, they set a record for fastest arson investigation of all time. Police Chief Wiggum would be blown away.
