i got my top wisdom teeth out yesterday at around noon. the operation was fine because my gums were completely numb (there was a little pain here and there, but it wasn't bad at all). however, after a 2 hour nap, the pain hit me. good thing i had hydrocodone (a painkiller).
the operation did not hurt whatsoever (you can feel a LOT of pressure, however, because they pretty much yank out your wisdom teeth). i had to stick gauze in my mouth to soak up the blood and to help stop the bleeding. the bleeding wasn't that bad...it pretty much stopped within a few hours (but I kept switching out the gauze as a precaution).
the part that REALLY sucks is the fact that your diet consists of nothing but jello, applesauce, pudding, and ice cream (and mash potatoes and mac n cheese if you'd like). this is what i've eaten in the past 2 days:
thursday: regular breakfast (eggs, bacon, toast); half a thing of jello for lunch; a bowl of ice cream for dinner
friday: finished the rest of that jello and ate half of a snack pack (pudding) for breakfast; ate a little mac and cheese for lunch (which i thought tasted disgusting and it was hard to eat because i had to do all the chewing with my 2 front teeth), some ice cream for a snack, and more mac and ice cream for dinner.
i must say, i'm really loving this awesome diet (/sarcasm)....the worst part: because i'm a guy, i'm a carnivore. i need meat to survive. the problem is, meat requires you to chew, and that is something i unfortunately can not do. and to top it off, i can't really go outside or anything because 1) i'm swelling a little, so i kinda look like a chipmunk, and 2) talking too much makes me bleed. so i'm pretty much stranded at home, on this stupid laptop of mine, and waiting for my mouth to heal so i can enjoy these last 2 weeks of summer
just so that this isn't just a stupid rant and a worthless post, i have a few questions to ask those who have had their wisdom teeth removed.
1) how long did it take before you were able to eat normally?
2) when'd you start brushing your teeth again?
i didn't brush my teeth yesterday, but today i started rinsing my mouth with warm salt water (it sucks), and tonight i tried brushing my teeth (my bottom teeth are sparkly clean, but i'm not too sure about the top teeth near my holes). i just don't wanna open up the holes again because that might result in dry sockets. and i definately wanna avoid that.
and...
3) when'd you start working out again?
my doctor told me not to engage in any physical activity for 3-4 days, but i don't know if i can last that long. i'm a workoutaholic, and i need to either work out, run, or play basketball every day....otherwise i'll die!
if you got down this far, then thanks for listening to my crying and whining and complaining haha

I have a similar situation. Before I got my braces, I had to have four premolars pulled out. I guess it's less painful than having your wisdom teeth being pulled out though.
1) I basically could eat normally the day right after the operation. But I still can't chew anything slightly hard (e.g. cookies

).
2) The day after the operation. The orthodontist told me to brush the 'holes' gently too. If you don't brush your teeth, you'll get cavities easily.
3) I can't really answer these question. I'd guess try avoiding too active sports for a while.

I hope that kind of helped.

My sister had her wisdom teeth pulled out a couple days ago.
1) You could eat, but you should say away from hot foods or anything hard.
2) You could either brush later that day or it's better to wait for the day after the operation. Brush gently.
3) Sorry, I have no idea on this one. XD

oh shit man.
i went through that in january. TWO DAYS before my
birthday. i couldn't eat my own birthday cake a friend baked for me. damn.
but for the first week, all i tasted was blood. everything = blood. water = blood.
and everything made me bleed. it was like..
but after a week or two, it gets better and eventually heals. just don't bite down too hard--i did that and it hurt like f**k.
but yeah. let the blood clot. it'll suck for a while but, in a few days, you'll notice less and less of it. but as for now, you can't eat your favorite food for a while

Because I have a bad gum. I couldn't eat good foods that are like crunchy and stuff. It had to be soft foods like applesauce or soup. Because my gum was so weak and bad, something rough touches it makes my gum KILL ME LIKE I HAVE NOWHERE TO HIDE! -_-;;
It was sucha killer. But good thing IT ENDED!! well for the next 4 days, -_-;;
It was hard to drink or eat cold stuff because my gum was so bad -_-;; One time I skipped brushing my teeth because once the toothpaste touched my gum... omg.................................................. i felt like it was the end of the world. i was screaming a lot -_-;;; and cried. i had to so i can AT LEAST RELIEVE IT! -_-;;

i have never gotten my wisdom teeth pulled out
but i got at least 8 teeth pulled out in my life..i think you can start eating normally when it looks healed(see no more blood) or you feel no more pain completely
and don't ever tried touching that empty spot with your tongue cause it feels really nasty

Should this be in health?
Anyway, jeez, that sounds horrible. I had 5 teeth pulled out and it was the worst experience of my life. The worst part was the dentist was just going on a pulling spree AND HE PULLED OUT A TOOTH WITHOUT NUMBING IT (and one we didn't pay for)!
I was on a similar diet. Goodness. It actually sounds like a lot more trouble for just 2 teeth you got removed. Have fun...?

i think i might have to get my wisdom teeth pulled. i like mashed potatoes and jello though.
i also know someone who just had their wisdom teeth yanked out. maybe scientists can go through and find out exactly where in your dna your wisdom teeth are and remove it because the teeth are gonna most likely be taken out anyways.

That sounds painful.

I've (obviously) never had any teeth pulled out. My jaw hurts just thinking about it...but I do like mac n cheese, ice cream, mashed potatoes, and jello.

hahah...this will NEVER happen. there is no way scientists will spend millions of dollars researching the gene that gives people crooked wisdom teeth, when they're focusing on curing cancer and fixing birth defects
