Yes, but the reason is likely considered to be pretty subjective. I personally find the iPod to be a very good MP3 player that is much more usable than other ones, although the subjectivity is that others might disagree.

well, i like to record lectures and listen to radio when i music bores me..
and i don't want to carry around a 20 buck attachment for each, so the extra thickenss of the iriver was good (plus they ddin't have the color ipod then)
ipod color over iriver h10 20 gb version tho, def.

i can't stand the radio, so i don't plan on buying an attachmentfor that. and my other alternative was the 20gb h10, and since it was better, that's what i went with. the only feature i regret not having is the recording

I like Ipod better, not because of the popularity.
I had an Iriver, and it nice, but its nothing special.
The Ipod also works as a Harddrive (its an option in the menus) and that makes it really helpfull when I need to get files off one of my computer that has no network access.

The h320 owns the ipod in almost everyway.
If you didn't get that, then the h10 20 gig should suit you just fine

You seem to have this constant grudge against the iPod and frankly it's annoying. When buying my mp3 player, I weighed the features of each player, and decided that the iPod was most what I wanted. Not because of the brand name status, but because regardless of what you seem to think, it
is a good player and has some advantages over other players

and come on. it's like the difference between a hot girl and a not hot girl- the hot girl is obviously more preferable.
and at this point in time, i think ipod is catching up to the iriver h10 series. (although the h300 series is yet to be surpassed, but it's discontinued.)
although, on the mini/ flash player mark, the iriver u10 surpasses everything ipod has, and ipod will probably match it in a few years...

Ahh, good point. Headshot.
I used to like the iPods. Infact, I've actually wanted one. But after finding about the bare mp3 player it is, without any features I was surely shocked. Im a tech geek for sure. But after finding out all it has more faults then greatness, I sorta, kinda , hated it.
And advantages? The only ones I can think of are maybe the easy to use function, and the ability to get free headphones and other accesories by using a trick on the apple website.
Also, I don't even have an mp3 player.

Ahh, but you see I don't have an mp3 player. BUT I have a PVP. So my opinion will vary from others. I expect high quality sound, endurance, performance, and video capability, and others. But I expect more because of the fact I have a PVP. The h320 does video support, whereas the iPod doesn't, but can be used to watch videos using Ipod Linux, just with no sound. Linux will void your warranty, whereas the h320 firmware MIGHT, void, but everyone who has upgraded said that iRiver happily replaced theirs when it broke, or stoped functioning correctly.

No no, I also judge it on the mp3 factor, so basically I have 2 opinions. Yeah it's kind of confusing. On terms of just an mp3 player, I don't like it. I think it's too fragile, the design does't appeal to me and its so bare. The only good thing is the ease of use. I don't like iTunes either. Only good thing is that iTunes is free in korea, free downloads for everything. But even then the iPod doesn't appeal to the Korean Market.

the h300 wasn't designed for videos either.
and why is everyone waiting anxiously for a video ipod, if there's no need?
and why does everyone who has an ipod who sees my iriver play a movie become utterly facinated?
video is prominent in the PVPs, which ipod is not, but now as color screens proliferate, video support is growing much.
people say they don't want to watch movies on a small screen. but they forget about music videos.
ah yes, music videos. quite easily viewed on a small screen, and it's a logical progression from a regular color screen MP3 player.
QUOTE(xnofearx @ Sep 8 2005, 5:45 PM)

err...
the PMC the PMP and the H300 show video, so that's three.
and the H300 is a standard MP3 player. same size (besides thickness) as the ipod, and what's that thick? it's the almost half a centimeter of casing on each side, which protects against falls. it's the higher capacity battery.
------------
within 5 years, ipods will play video clips (music videos), and all the people who said "i don't need no stinking video" when i pointed out that my H300 plays video, those people will be like... "wow look at ipod it's got video that's innovative it PWNS all others."
