Welcome to CB!

Here at CB, there is a group of rules we follow. It's called the Community Guidelines. Please read through them before you begin posting on CB.

After you've been here a while and you have the proper requirements, you can apply to be an official member. This is a special title given to dedicated members who contribute to the community. If you are a very good skinner for either Xanga, Blogger, MySpace, Livejournal, websites or all of them, you can apply to be an official designer; but the requirement is acceptance of at least 7 skins. wink.gif

If you have any suggestions to make the community better or more accessible to people, you can post a topic in the Feedback forum.

If you have any questions about the site, you can check the CreateBlog FAQs and if your question is not answered there, you can PM one of the moderators your question pertains to. (For example: If your question is about the Community forums, PM a People Staff, not a Myspace Staff.)

Have fun, and enjoy your time at CB. _smile.gif

N.B.:
QUOTE
Spam will not be tolerated and consists of:
  • One- or two-word posts (unless it is in the Forum Games)
  • A post with only smileys (unless it is in the Forum Games)
  • Anything not pertaining to the topic (i.e., "South Park is the bestest show ever, no?" in a topic about, say, MySpace codes)
  • Chatting --> Some is tolerated, if it relates to the topic, but personal conversations and chatroom talk are not allowed. PM or comment each other if you get off-topic.
  • Blatant ignorance of forum/topic rules (ex: Members' Photos: there's a rule that you must thumb pictures that stretch out the forums, and if you keep doing it after you're warned, it is considered spam or warning-worthy)
  • Repetitive posts (ex: in Introductions, copying and pasting "Welcome to cB, and enjoy your stay!" for each thread)
  • Repetitive topics (Club topics. It's pretty obvious when they're serious clubs and when they're just spammy, chattering clique-y clubs.)
  • Posting the same topic in more than one forum. There is a place for everything.

Anyone caught copying and pasting will be subject to a verbal or increased warning.

Using the search bar
This is important if you plan on posting a new topic (which will be explained below). You have to use the search bar. Or the advance search. This will allow you to search to see if you are not duplicating a topic. Which is against the Community Guidelines. To use the search bar, you have to use keywords. Such as "Community Guidelines". You can't use keywords such as, "ad in div" the search bar will not let you search for any word that is under 4 characters. To use the search bar, which is located just beside the forums in the navigation at the top of this page, you will have to be on the (Forum Index Page) to search within all forums. The page that you are on when you make the search is the page, or forum that you will be searching. If you are in the tutorials page, you will search in tutorials. if you are in the Forum Index page, you will search the Forums for those keywords. You type your keywords in, separated by commas, and then press go. You don't press (Submit) that is the portal to contributing to CreateBlog, which will be explained below.

How to customize your posts with BB code
You can always press the BB Code Help button at the bottom right of this table if there is something that you don't know how to do.

If you choose to use the add reply button you will see a table, and many small icons above it. These are the BB Code buttons. You can hover any button if you do not know the function. If you choose the fast reply at the bottom of the topic, you will see only a few buttons, none of the font style options are avalible for fast clicking in fast reply.

How to post a new topic
You can post a new topic on any forum except the announcements forum unless you are an administrator, head staff moderator, or the creator which is micron. You can press the button "New Topic" to make your new topic. It is the one that is next to the "Add Reply" button. Before you make a new topic, make sure that you have searched to see if your topic has already been posted. If your search contains only irrelevant topics than what you want, that means that you can make a new topic! Press the "New Topic" button. You need to specify a Topic title. If you are making a Topic about Bad Fishing Habits. You can make the title of the topic "Bad Fishing Habits." The description is optional but you can always add one for further detail. Make sure that your Topic Title isn't too long, 3 or 4 words max. Make it short and sweet. Think (main idea).

The poll options link will let you create a poll, I will tell you how to do that below.

When you are ready to post your topic, you press the "Post New Topic" button. I would suggest that you first preview your post, before you post it, to see that your coding is okay. At the top if you are missing something it will tell you that your BB code does not agree. And you will have to see if you left off something such as an closing tag.. (/text) such as that.

The attachments will also be explained below.

Gow to search the scripts section before you ask for a code

Before you make a topic in any of the support forums, I would suggest that you search the scripts first. To do so, press the scripts link in the navigation. This will show you a page for all types of scripts. Xanga and MySpace are the most popular scripts, you should find whatever you're looking for here. By default, when you press the scripts link in the navigation, you sort the scripts by all scripts, and the most recent ones first. You can change these setting by clicking on the drop down lists, and choosing which ones you want to see, and how you want to sort them. The category option is for MySpace and Xanga scripts and will let you choose between enhancements or customizations. On this page, you can also search scripts, which I touched base upon earlier, when I talked about using the search bar. You can use the search bar here too! The same rules apply. Search your keywords, and look for relevance. You may have to read all the scripts that come up, because the scripts that you searched do match the keyword(s) that you typed in. When you can't find the script that you are looking for, you can post a topic in the appropriate support forum. (Support Forums) You should read the pinned topics in the support forum as well before you post the topic to see if it has already been answered.

How to search the tutorials section before you ask how to make something
This is very similar to searching for a script, except you would press the tutorials link in the navigation, when you press that you will get the same looking page as the scripts page. and you can define your search the same way (with the drop down lists) and you can search the same way. One difference with this, is you wouldn't post a help topic in the support forums, but inside the (Designers' Café).

How to send a user a message
You can do this directly from their cB profile, or you can do this from their subprofile, or even from the forums. Sending the user a message is sometimes referred to as sending the user a PM. To send them a message from their cB profile, you would click the Private Message link, which is located directly under their profile picture. You can send them a message from their subprofile if they don't have a profile by clicking the Send user a message link below their avatar a few lines. The third way that you can send them a message is by clicking their username in the forums and selecting the third option "send user a message." The user's profile is the first option, the second option is their subprofile or statistics page, and the other two are self-explanatory.

How to make a poll
Yay! this is the part of the topic where you can make your very own poll. You can poll about anything and everything. The only forum that doesn't allow polls is the debate forum. besides that they are most popular in the locker rooms. To make a poll you would click the link, "Click here to manage this topic's poll". This is my way of making a one-question poll.

Poll Title - Make a poll title. Then click the link to add a question to the poll.

Poll Content - This is the title of the question that you asking. Press the link to add a poll choice (answer). All polls need at least two answers. Most include Yes or No. But they all vary.

For the multiple choice questions, you will need to make another question. Or if your question has answers that can be applied more than once. Once you have done all that, that is the bone structure of your poll, and you can vote on it only once.

The poll will still need a topic and title and everything else too.

How to upload attachments to the forums
You can upload attachments two ways, you can do so in your controls page. Or in the New Topic form. Your current attachments are located in the drop down list in the upper right of that table, and you can choose which file you want to add to the topic from the choose button, which will pop up in a new window and ask which file you want to upload to CreateBlog.com from your computer. Pretty forward concept with attachments.

How to use the forum shortcuts
cB4 offers many forum shortcuts, such as the fast reply, and one that I use a lot is the mark forum as read. You can easily mark a specific forum as read by clicking on the cB box just to the left of the forum title on the Forum Index Page.

How to submit different things to CreateBlog.com
To make any contribution to CreateBlog.com, you need to hover the submit button next to the search bar on the forum. And you will choose which you want to pick from.

To submit a layout:

This form lets you completely customize it, so you can specify what it is you are submitting. The requirements and statistics are also shown on this page.

To submit a graphic is just like submitting a layout, but doesn't involve as many options.

Submitting a script and tutorial are also just like submitting a layout.

Follow the forms, and you shouldn't have any problems. If you do have problems, the page will tell you what the problem is, and hopefully you can fix it.

How to join member groups
All applications for member groups such as official promoters, official members, and official designers, will be posted in this topic: (Apply for official member/designer/promoter)
