^ Call the Obs MD, Kathleen. :) Also, have you (provided your parents will allow you to) considered birth control? Helps regulate.

Feb 5 2007, 02:59 PM
^ Out of all seriousness, I've begged/attempted to persuade them into allowing me to get it. It's not like I'm having sex all the time or anything, either -- my boyfriend lives on the other side of the country. But I want it for all the other reasons OTHER THAN its initial (i.e. regulation, relief for cramps, etc.) purpose, y'know?
In all seriousness,
OKEE thx rebecca. ill d0 tht

I'm 13, and I already started my period, and everything is fine, but whenever I have my period, I worry I'm going to bleed on the sheets (at night; this has already happened before), or on my jeans when I'm walking. Is there anything I can do to stop myself from bleeding on my sheets? (normally I just check my pants quickly, and my jeans are fine at school)

Feb 12 2007, 12:29 AM
Oh, well, my mom knows already that I have my period, but I'm just too embarrassed to ask her to go buy those. I'm too embarrassed to even tell her that the pads are out (usually my sister just puts more in). Ah, well, I guess it's not a big deal.

^ Try wearing a tampon with a pad for extra protection against leakage. Works for me when I'm having a heavy period.

Well I wrote this to help this girl on packing a period kit in this topic.
Someone said it was helpful so I thought I would post it in here..
1.
Calcium Or Tums - if you take enough calcium a day or at least 4 of those Tums it will really help and help decrease some of the symptoms from your period such as bloating, food cravings, and moodiness..
2. Drink tons of
water & stay clear of salt - Salt retains the water in your body which is probably the biggest and main cause of being bloated, water flushes out all the toxins in your body and will make your feel better. Also if your really moody on your period you may want to stay away from the caffeine

3. If your on the go a lot then get those
Thermacare heatwraps - I'm sure they'll work wonders

Cramps are just muscle spasms in the uterus, and the easiest way to relax them is with heat. Heating pads of course work well too if your able to just sit or lay down and rest. For really bad cramps though a good suggestion is to use
anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen. And of course what many love
midol I'm sure will help too

4.
Tampons/pads - of course.
Suggestion
5.
Exercise - Even though its the last thing you would ever want to do at a time like this, it works really well. Exercising helps regulate hormones, decreases stress (nice when your really stressed about school and things ;]), and your body is producing endorphins which naturally put you in a good mood
Hope this helps?

i have a question....can a period can mess up you body and maybe gain weight?
It makes you bloat.
For a couple of days.
No, it shouldn't mess up your body...
It's totally natural and it keeps your body in balance more than messes it up.
It can't make you permanently gain weight, no.

Just gotta say that yes it is something completely natural for women, but people do need to clean...
Otherwise, that's just unhygienic.

I do ballet & a bunch of other dance so I know what you're going through. Just use a tampon when you're cheering/practicing. Usually that does the trick since pads + ballet = ugh...no.
PS: Don't use all caps when you type, it's pretty annoying and hard to read.

Just use a tampon..thats what their mainly made for was for sports.
