I really need help on my upper back around the back shoulder and neck area.

i'm starting to have more bumps on my back. When i scratch it off, i think it causes spots. Will it ever go away? What other ways can i deal with it? I dont know what i have to say. i just need suggestion to heal my back to normal where it used to be. i made it worse before because i didnt stop scratching it because it felt good when i scratch it.

---------------------- EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT
March 5, 2005

My back have gotten worse and darker (bumps) for about 7 months since i got back issue. I rarely scratch or even touch my back anymore a long time ago. Everyday, my back gets minor itchy but it still bothers me. Sometime it gets stronger and unbearable. The new things that I’ve done to reduce the back problem was to change my home-style clothes very often, sweater everyday, jacket everyday, and pull my shirt upper to cover my back neck everyday . (And every night too!)

Anyways, i did go to my doctor. He was kind of useless to me, i think. He didnt tell me any medicine to reduce my bumps. (Because of too many side effects.) All he told me was to reduce eating oily food, caffeine, and chocolate. That's it. Shit man, I’m so f**king piss off. Doctor suck ass. He should at least recommend "something" for my back even though it is cause my puberty... but there are ways to reduce it, not get rid of it. Sheesh. What’s up with doctor these days? Do they care about their patient or the god dam money? I’m getting those freaking emotional pain from it. I hate my skin and every crap on myself, f**k, f**k, f**k, f**king f**k, shit.

Now, i dont know what to do. I feel so lost and no one to guide me. i hate bumbs, acne, or whatever it called. Life's a bitch, you know? My only hope is left to you guys, fellow cB. Any suggestions? Oh yeah, i'm using tree oil ... i dont think it's helping me at all. Idk.

You know what i think, it's keratosis pilaris. I could be wrong though. Thanks Anna for letting me know this info from http://www.helpforkp.com/

Please do not ...
refer me to dermatologist, no money for that. My family cant afford it.
tell me to go to the doctor, it's pointless.
use any product with aloe vera. i tried it ... it didnt work.

My Bro has the same prop try using soap-less cleansers when you wash your back, plus it might be pimples you never know o_o i dont really know much about this but try going to the doctor and ask him/her for some anti-tich pwoder/lotion and you wont scratch therefor no more scars =)
WhiteLotus*
I think they're just pimples. Just use a acne-medicated body wash in that area, and you'll be fine. The itching should stop.
anubis
damn. you probably have back-acne--or "bacne"

just do what they said. wash it with some special cleanser. it's just like how someone would have acne on their face--hard to deal with--except it's on your back. ermm.gif
Azarel
It's not acne.

QUOTE(simplyme123 @ Jul 14 2005, 9:18 AM)
I have it too.  ermm.gif  It's called keratosis pilaris, and it is a common heriditary skin condition.  Here's a website I found that explains KP and has pictures, etc.  http://www.helpforkp.com/

I've tried all kinds of things to treat mine, but nothing has helped. I have it on my arms and legs...I may try some of the treatments on that site to see if they will get rid of it.

Mmm I wouldn't say soap would be necessarily helpful, it can dry out your skin and stuff. Something with collodial oatmeal would probably be good, like aveno body wash, maybe? Also, remember to moisturize! (within 10 minutes after you shower is best)

hehe. i have moisturizer. i wonder if aloe vera helps?
mai_z
aloe vera might help, but I wouldn't randomly start putting stuff on it. Aloe vera's supposed to be good for pimples and stuff, and it's not really strong, so I guess you could try it.
lovescream
i get those too.. or maybe. i'm not sure. but you know those scrubby things? you use to scrub your body is it's like sorta spikey-ish.. like a feeling I can't really explain. but use those with some body wash on your back and it should come off without marks.

sounds like that but I get them sometimes on my arm. Your best bet is to go to a dermatologist... They can prolly subscribe you some ointment to make it better, or to make it reoccur as less. But it sounds like a mild reaction to something. Maybe its your clothes or your diet.

she meant it as a joke, the black plague is muuuch worse than what you have.

ugh, i think i used to have the same crap on my upper arms pinch.gif but, it's gotten better since i've used a loofa (those puffy things) to scrub my skin clean with body wash and regular soap. just plain regular soap with the loofa should be okay. i also use body cream afterwards from bath and body works but normal cream/lotion should work.

I don't know if your problem is acne, but if it is, Neutrogena has a great acne body wash that helps people with bumps on their back,so you could try that. I knew a girl with bumps all on her arms sholders and back, she used it and it really cleared up the problem. Also, try proactive, its expensive and you'll need someone elses help, but its the number one acne treatment and though most people use it for their face, some do use it on their back. Thats almost a fail proof method. I know it sucks, its a hard thing to go through, I have scars on my back for a few years ago when I had a problem with it from beign in marching band a sweating in the heavy uniforms. Its very embarrassing. But try those, they could really help you. :)
sw33t_rouge
try exfolating you back everyday to slough off dead skin cells that might block your pores and cause "backne" also use an oil-free lotion to moisterize

p.s

keep using tea tree oil it's useful you might know the diffrence now! good luck

Niez cho, my doctor did a checkup ... he didn’t make any big deal out of it. To him, it was like... "Whatever”. Oh yeah, I'm not the only one who experience this type of problem as a growing teenager so it shouldn’t be a very limited knowledge. I know it's natural to have back problem ... but there's always a way to make it better such as face wash.

Same here, the bumps does feel rough on my buttock, thigh, and etc. My back feels itchy and flamy. I'm sure it can’t possible be acne. It doesn’t have any white puss on top of my red bumps.

I did some family research about keratosis pilarsis ... two of my brothers actually had acne ... one sister seem to have keratosis pilarsis, I think. I could be wrong though. One of my brothers has some bumps problems around his buttock.

Thanks for giving me the tips ;]

Oh by the way, i have tried baby lotion. I don’t think it's working at all. (Been doing it for about 3 weeks, nothing changes)

Wow, sounds interesting. What's loofa and what does it look like...? Thanks for letting me know but ... you’re talking about acne, right?

That’s a horrible experience ;[. Acne suck ass.

Does the product have to label "body wash”...? My sisters have Neutrogena for her face acne. She asked me to use Neutrogena because it helps reduce acne.

Speaking of scientifically, you can actually irritate, squish, ruin, and POP your bumps to make it worse. i wouldn’t do it though.

I’ve been using tree oil for a month, it doesn’t seem to make any different.

Ooh, I might be able to help you on this one!

Well, I guess have this condition as well. Until I read this topic, I thought it was just body acne. I have it on my upper arms and thighs. Anyway, during the summer, I went to go get Neutrogena Body Wash for the body acne to see if it could just reduce the amount of "bumps" or whatever. It actually did work! happy.gif The "bumps" pretty much reduced and aren't as noticable anymore. Also, I dont' think much of it grows either. If you read the article, you can see that they say Keratosis Pilaris clears up when you're in adulthood, so it'll eventually go away. Don't stress about it.

Oh, one more thing:
QUOTE
Although there’s no cure, proper care can control the problem. Dermatologists recommend chemical exfoliants that are found in alpha hydroxy moisturizers, such as Eucerin Plus Intensive Repair Creme, rather than physical exfoliants, such as a loofah sponge, which can be too abrasive on the skin. This type of treatment is very effective because it prevents hair follicles from clogging. In fact, a recent clinical study on people with keratosis pilaris found skin tone and texture were improved after just two weeks of using Eucerin’s alpha hydroxy moisturizer.

^They provide the names of the products that can help you get rid of KP there :]

Oh hey! So THAT'S what I have! :D Dang. Kinda ruined it though.

Anyway, I'm really happy with my freaky kero-whateverness skin. It's all cool and lizardlike. Maybe smooth skin is in, but I'm cool with my own.

Just be happy with yourself dude. Honestly, people get used to it. No one cares. ^^
