around two days ago was my dad's birthday. so i made him a card that's got a pop up cake and candles ..it also wrote how old he's turning. then today. he gave it back and said "i dont want this. who needs birthday cards? where am i going to keep them? you take it back"

we always had this bad relationship. on my birthday and the whole family was celebrating, wen hes by the window talking to his friends and watching the tv. making him eat the cake was like feeding someone cow dung. he always shouted me for the smallest things and she likes my sister way better than me. i dunno wat to do..

I'm so sorry that happened to u.. just ignore the fact that he did that...well u cant really do anything about it, its not ur fault he did that..its ur dads..in the mean time, try to better your relationship with ur dad..even if it seems like it isnt getting better..good luck!

and he wasn't celebrating with you on your birthday? i don't know what to say.. i mean--everyone should always love their parents, regardless of what ever happens because: they're your parents.

like.. i was hit pretty badly when i was a kid, but i still love my parents very very much. i guess you really got your feelings hurt, eh? i'm just surprised you'd still care so much when he obviously shows no sign of it.

actually theres this problem between my mom and dad too..if it werent for me and my sister they would haf divorced..

im sorry your dad did that to you, i know how that feels. when i was like 7 i gave my dad a painting i made and he said why would i need this and threw it in the garbage in front of my face. things like that have happened all my life.

if you WANT a better relationship with your dad, talk to him tell him that he hurt you doing that.

that's a lot better then my dad. i gave him a birthday card i was working forever on and it was perfect. the next morning i find it ripped in a million pieces in the living room...he doesnt even bother to say anything about it...

It's hard to give you any advice when I don't have such a good relationship with my dad either. Like as I'm typing he's crying and making himself look pitiful because the dog is nibbling him. He ALWAYS wants people to feel sorry for him and give him attention and etcetera, but he never gives it appropriately in return. And I mean, he's just a puppy and he nibbles at me all the time. Yeah, I guess I'm just ranting and blabbering now.

If you feel comfortable enough to talk to him, I'd encourage you to have a 1 on 1 with him and sort things out.

And if you're thinking why I "haven't" done this already, the answer is I have many times and he ends up yelling at me and verbally beating me into a bloody pulp.

My Dad, I have good realtionship with him, but he's f**ked up in the head. No one in my family wnats anything to do with him, I'm sorry he did that to you, sometime speople are incosiderate, even parents, tell me how much it hurt you. If he doesn't listren, well, I don't know....sorry I wasn't much help was I?

Well I'm not sure about you, but what I look forward to is that I only have 2 more years (I'm going to be a junior in september) with that filthy mother effer and then I can be my own person and don't have to see him. Hopefully you're in high school and you would be able to get out of the house for good =)

If you are willing, I think you should confront him on why he treats you this bad. If he doesn't want to talk about it, you can ask your mother for help.

Yes, I have a bad relationship with my father, too.

I've been through alot of things, and I don't like being with my Dad alone because he tends to yell at me in public or threaten to hit me in front of my friends. When he and my mother get divorced next year, it's gonna be hard for me to tell him I don't like being with him without my Mom or sister.

I think your best choice is to just stay out of his way for awhile until you think you can handle it again, or move out, whichever comes first.

I gave my Dad a birthday card once. And I was the only one, so he told me thank you and it made my month. He still hates my art, though.

to all of you people...just don't take things like this to heart, just try to have a "whatever" attitude, you tried your best to give him a happy birthday. he should love whatever it is you made him whether it's something you just made in 2 seconds because you took time out of your life to do something for him. it's not your fault he's just being as ass about everything
