I think figure skating is. Although hockey is rough, I think figure skating takes a lot more practice, effort, and definitely a lot more time! (Especially when you think that we have to get up at 4 AM sometimes!)

figure skating is extremly difficult and takes a lot of time and effort, but hockey wins this one. hockey is probably the roughest sport there is. it is extremely fast so if you get hit in hockey, it HURTS. you need to be fast, strong, quick stopping and turns, good stick handling, etc, etc, etc. you need to be in excellent shape which takes a lot of time. trust me its not that i dont think figure skating is rough, because anyone that can do that is amazing, i kno i never could. i just think because of how rough hockey is and what great shape you need to be in, and the strategy that it takes to win a game, it takes more time to get good at all of that, because as my friend [ who plays hockey ] says.. if you aren't up to par with everyone else, you get killed.

Hockey. Definitely. Figure skating takes obvious time and effort as well, but with hockey, you have to work with a team and it takes a lot of effort in doing that. Time is obviously big, too, in that there is a lot of training and whatnot and getting into shape.
I wish I knew more about figure skating, though.

I'd say hockey, because you probably have to train just as much as figure skating. Like Teesa said, you also have to work as a team. And you also have to keep persevering despite all those bruises and injuries you get from playing hockey.

figure skating is harder since you're more of an individual and stuff---so you HAVE to practice to make yourself better because that's all there is.
for HOCKEY--you have a team--so it doesn't even matter that much if you don't put too much effort into it--because there are like 32458023456 other guys/girls/w.e there with you.

Hockey... some hockey players are actually figure skaters (Scott Niedermayer, for example) as well. You need to develop that skill first and then coordinate the hockey aspects into your skill.
Working in a team can sometimes be more difficult than working individually, since you can't work at your own pace and there is pressure from your teammates to do well.
In addition, hockey makes you that much more susceptible to injuries, skating around with so many others on the ice surface. I dated a hockey player before and he was always injured. Things like tripping over sticks, a puck in the shin, etc.
There are mental and emotional factors for both the sports, but hockey definitely takes the cake in physical terms.
Oh and PS. There are plenty of 4AM practices in hockey too.

Hockey because you work your ass off in practice and games. I'm not saying figure skating doesn't need hard practice, but when you compete you have relaxing music and you only have a run for a few minutes where hockey is like hours. And you gotta skate with padding and stuff.
i remeber i used to be a goalie.

I'm sure both sports require a tremendous amount of effort, but I like figure skating better because it's just so graceful and beautiful.

i don't like either. skateboarding is the awesomest :)
if i had to choose, i'd choose figure skating. it's really pretty to watch during the olympics. besides, the Hurricanes suck now.

Well I play hockey, but I don't really know which would be harder because I've never tried figure skating. There are so many things that are happening all at the same time in hockey, which makes it difficult. You have to worry about multiple things. And figure skating looks pretty hard, I mean I skate well in hockey, but I'd be lieing if I said that it was easy to spin around in the air 4 times and land on my feet.

Hockey because the same requirements are there as figure skating you have to be able to turn and stop and all of that good stuff . The only real difference is the contact in hockey and the movement in figure skating. Hockey takes more time though because you have to get used to all the pads and work on the checking and the basic rules of hockey.

Hockey, because a goalie has to stop almost every shot in the game and also has and because of the players...
