(it looks intimidating, but read it all.)

i still remember the day
i stepped out in the rain
and saw the sky light up
with the start of the elephant wars

i was a child, growing up
and i wanted to go to war
to find glory and fame
and adventure too

five years later
the fighting not done
so i went and enlisted to fight
in the elephant wars

i went and learned
how to fight and kill
i learned what i needed
every skill

i couldn't wait to go to war
i wanted to see what my gun was for
and so the plane came and went
with me on board, and my fellow men

the door popped open and out we went
into the mist of the elephant war
we jump and tucked and there we were
falling into the elephant war

i saw the bodies fly apart
i felt the blood spatter on my face
i fire my gun and saw him fall
the enemy- a fellow man

and then i found what i want
i got the glory i sought
the adventure- it was there
and i was a happy one

a few years went by, and then we won
i had helped win the elephant war
i went home, and found my mom
was dead from cancer when i was gone

i walked around and then i found
my girlfriend left for my brother
i sat there with my gun
and thought of the elephant wars

they stuck me in a home
they gave me food and drink
and i sat there with a gun
and thought of the elephant wars

i thought of my buddies, who died
died in the elephant wars
gunned down in all thier youth
and i was left to age

and i sat there with a gun
and thought of the elephant wars
and i sat there with a gun; thinking of the elephant war
and then i was no more.

i like it. especially the last stanza.

Very focused on war. Good way to keep the reader informed and a good way for memorization with the repetition of the word "war."
