im trying to have a transparent image
but i dont know what to say it as.

when i save i as gif : it always comes out with a pattern no matter how i do it .
when i save as png transparent: the file is way to big

and yes i save for web.

I also suggest saving as PNG-8. It's like a super-powered gif file in a way.

if i saved it as png it would be
900k+ and thats big. it was over 900k .

but on png-8 its pratically the same thing as gif it comes out w/ patterns or noise

..... How much of the image needs to be transparent? You can slice it if not all of it requires transparency.

What happens when you save it as .JPEG?

Well, the transparency goes away, for one thing; JPEG's don't support transparency.
