Haha, how come I see william in every emo thread I happen to visit. None of the bands you listed on your poll is "emo"...The only one who really made some sense about emo was Akaryux...

SOTY was the only band I was surprised to see on the poll...I saw them at Warped Tour && I have their cd, they're not anywhere near even today's "we'll call this band emo to get all the teens to listen to them" genre...They're just really loud...

I'm not really a huge fan of Sunny Day Real Estate. "Fool in the Photograph" is a good song, but I didn't like a lot of their other stuff. I'd have to say one of the best emo bands is Texas is the Reason. Toadies are also good, although it's arguable they are emo; I guess they're more post-grunge, but grunge (and post-grunge) and emo are pretty similar genres anyway.

I never claimed to know everything about this genre, I don't even think I do. I'm just certain that the bands listed on her poll aren't emo. Sure I wasn't around a reasonable age when it started coming out, but it's the same with the younger generation and 80's rock or Nirvana [I'm not a big fan myself though], nobody has a problem with that though.

I don't intend to to start an argument or anything, I just wanted to answer your statement.

Reading a previous forum on emo music, i know this definition of mine is incorrect, but emo music to me is something that actually sounds sad. Soft, mellow.. not a big screaming mess of whatever you call that.
