Do you think we should increase the number of requirements for official member-dom? Currently it seems that one can be an official member in just a day, which doesn't show a lot of dedication to createblog. Perhaps we should implement a rule that says they should have joined CB for a minimum of a week (or something like that) with a ppd of 5?

Discuss.
bfleenor
hmm.. good idea it took me like a week to get 50 posts...........
yeah thats a good idea..... but what does it hurt haveing more offical members to tell people abot cb?
racoons > you
why not up th erequired number of posts to 100?
heyyfrankie
well, even though you could easily fulfill all of the requirments in one day...you have to keep up witht he 5ppd which keeps you coming back every-so-often. but i concur with james...i think that 50 posts is too low. ermm.gif

^ I agree up the posts to a min of 100
technicolour
It did seem pretty easy to get it. But it shoulda been 100. the 5ppd thing will getcha though.

However, if the minimum post count for the official member status were raised, it'd be great since I'm starting to see too many people trying to get fifty posts in one day for the mere service of the xtracker and then leaving after they get the status (which, they usually don't so they keep spamming).

Well if you think about it, one can sign up and post 100 posts that day, apply for official memberdom, get their tracker, and leave. And it'll take a long time for their ppd to drop to 5, so they're not dedicated; they just had free time one day. That's why I think there should be a minimum time period for when they've been at CB.

However, the 100 posts would still be much better than the 50 we have now.
Paradox of Life
I know I'm a bit late, but I agree. It should be at least 100. If not, up to maybe 150 or so. It seems a majority CB can be an official member right now and it's kind of weird to see an official member with 70 posts, 5 posts a day and be around for only 2 weeks..

Post Per Day, isn't too hard to keep up with. 5 in a day isn't too hard, is it?

when i got this account (since my other was hacked) in three days i had a PPD of 10.2.

not that difficult, really.

I just noticed that... it's still cool though. I never thought it'd be possible.
illesztnena
Yeah I jus joined but still, I think 100 posts is much better, it's making the members give more dedication to CB so yeah I like the idea ;D
Libertie
I agree. "Official Member" status should be somewhat of a challenging goal, and if you can attain that status in one day, then it sort of loses its luster. :P

I think we should have that rule. and not raised the minimal post count? or a limit to how many post you can post per day?
[Deep]Thought63
i don't see nothing really wrong huh.gif , but im with 100 posts, even though its hard for me.
lKVNiiKINKYl
I agree with the 100 posts thing because it's not that hard to become an official member -.-
racoons > you
an exam-le of the 'quick 50' thing:

go to writing, and look at [deep]thought, who has just replied to every topic on the first couple of pages, with one word or short replies, such as 'great!' or 'i like it'

^ Hm, well the mods do check for past member's posts for spam, no?

it took me about 5-6 months to be an offical member because i didnt understand the post count shit. it was confusing.
butthead
Can anyone tell me how to become an official member?
xenosaga
I definately agree with this, since it is easy getting 50 posts and 5ppd in just one day, because all they could do is spam. We should also mek sure the member's will stay active. Since the Official member title gives you opportunities to use the uploader and such.

yep. i'm on cB everyday.

^ Well, you have a PPD of 6, so it can't be that hard. _smile.gif

By the way, your sig image's grammar should be like this:

Eh, well the point is, your PPD is still qualified, so it shouldn't be hard. If you're on CB everday and you can keep it above 5, you're good. It's not hard for anyone, really. I post at least 8 times a day..
yukichan
I agree with the idea..
For me, its easy to keep my ppd average high..
carlito1589
biggrin.gif Im not an official member (yet) but i still definately think the requirements are too low and way too easy. I could easily do all that in one day but im taking my time on purpose happy.gif Come on make it more challenging....... shifty.gif
xquizit
Well, one of the other requirements is to maintain a 5+ PPD so I think that takes care of inactive members. I do check official members PPDs regularly so I don't think this is a problem.

And I don't want to discourage members from applying for Official Member status. Plus, raising the post count requirement may encourage members to spam even more within one or a few days.
misskitty_purrs
i'm ok with uping the number to 100, but the 5 ppd is hard for me. i have been a member for a while now, and since i am on the less techincal side of things it's hard for me to post at least 5 times in one day.

You're going to have to post A LOT to raise your PPD if you continue using this account since you've been on cB since January 2005 (same as me). If I were you, I'd create a new account and work from there.

increase to 100?? wow, it will make my life difficult though...hehe..everyday i will drop by cb but not means that i will post everyday. Looks like i will forever dont get to be official member..pity me.

You can be an official designer though... I see you make a lot of layouts.
An official designer has the same privileges as an official member.

Ya, i'm applying for that post 1 or 2 days ago. I hope i can get it..(extremely want it) since i realised that I will forever wont get the Official Member tongue.gif
OhXiet_ItzDonnA
Yeah, I agree. 50 post in one day? Makes me think they've been spamming. Well, some people already was spamming. mad.gif
iNyCxShoRT
I agree with you, it would be too easy for members to get 50 posts. I say increase to at least 100. And for the ppd I think 5 is good.
silent whisper
um it took me like 3 weeks to become an official member or maybe like 4 weeks. about a month or something i dunno.

reason #1 (yes i come on everyday) i replied in topics that i can actully help in. (this proves i don't spam)
reason #2 i don't really have alot of problems to post about.

another question? lets say they raised the number of post to 100, and there are already people who are official members, with like 81 post or around that area would they take the "official member" groupy thingy away? because its not really fair given the fact that i i/we worked hard for it.

other than above, i totaly agree. biggrin.gif

The horrible thing is. I've been on CB for ages. And making up for all that PPD is horribly hard.
racoons > you
^

which is why there ought to be a way for members who have lon gperiods of inactivity to appeal about official memberdom.
but that's another thread

i dont get it...usernames dont got nothing to do with ppd...being and staying active does...why did you?
incoherent
why does it matter?

i changed usernames so i could do more things...as in im more dedicated now. before, i signed up before everybody and their mom signed up and never really came around. thats why my old member number was really low. (my member number was 10x as small as what it is now.)

so, in other words, my ppd was really small meaning it would take ages to get up because i didnt post for over a year so i had like 780 posts with a ppd of 1.5...

get it?
latinprep12
yeah...well i wanted to know if someone was like me..this is my second one...my ppd last time was around 5 and now its...gone to sh*t...well i feel you on that...this is my second and im more into now with this name...i was wondering because you said you changed your s/n because of ppd so i was wondering, but i understand
incoherent
alright...

im more up on this one, too, and i just applied to be on staff because i actually met the requirements this go read.

Well, be frankly Official Member is too easy to get. Just found out that member who join cb later than the date i'm applying *official Designer* already become an OFFICER MEMBER 2-3 days ago. My application laying there about 2 weeks & the applicants above me ---> worse, their application laying there almost coming 1 mth still dunno the status yet...pity us.. _dry.gif

Ok, Official Designer request the Design skill and Official Member request to be active on posting in cb. hMmm...Both posts get the same privileges though.

huh...so do you think that Official Member Requirement lack of something?
