I mean, they said that there was like 600,000 people in Philadelphia, if they charged people just like $1 to get in, that's $600,000 right there.

That's the difference between Live Aid and Live 8. Live Aid, the concert 20 years ago, was to raise money. Though money is well and good, it gives the appearance as if the problem has been solved. Money doesn't mean spit if people don't understand that there's a massive problem still out there. Live 8 wasn't a fundraiser, it was for awareness, as others above me have pointed out. Also, like others said, if enough people make their voices heard, then something will have to be done. It'd be irresponsible and an abuse of power of the G8 to not to.

liveAid bought africa lunch. whoop-de-f**k-de-doo

if you feed a man for a day, he'll be full for a day

by bringing problems to light, and fixing the SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM, which is DEBT and aLACK OF FAIR TRADE, you can feed them for the rest of their lives

hunger isnt the root of the problem. its just one branch.

^Ok, it's not that hard to raise awareness and money at the same time... Also the money doesn't have to go to buying food, it could go for debt relief. Even if it did go to food, it would be more than a days worth or whatever because it wouldn't go to purchasing the food, but to the farmers to improve their farming technique/supplies for better crops.
